Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is preparing to enter the fray

Camelbak hydration pack? Check. Bear mace? Check. Economy-sized package of adult diapers? Check. No, we're not planning an excursion into the Alaskan wilderness -- we're preparing to wade into the tumultuous warzone known as the holiday shopping season. It's a six-week-long test of will and endurance, punctuated by intense capitalistic bloodbaths such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Fuschia Wednesday. Oh, man, you don't know about Fuschia Wednesday? We'd tell you all about it, but we'd hate to add to the competition. Fine, we'll give you a hint: Pottery Barn. Oh, no! We've said too much!

As we attempt to figure out how to finance these euphoria-inducing shopping sprees, check out our seven favorite gaming-related webcomics of this past week, which we've posted below. You can vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump, then tell us what strips we might have missed out on in the comments section!

The Price of Loyalty
(Penny Arcade)
The Bomb (Digital Unrest)
Poke Graph
(The Ninja Ken)
Powers of Ten (2P Start)
Stealth (Brawl in the Family)
Short Fuse (Monday Night Crew)
Stained (Dipswitch)

Readers pick best webcomic: Babicide

The dynamic duo from Penny Arcade have had long-standing animosity with infants, as evidenced by a number of their past strips. This cycle -- and the comic's victory streak -- continued in last week's Webcomic Wrapup winner, titled "Babicide." Just to be clear, they're talking about demonic baby murder in this strip, and not that blue liquid that hairstylists use to clean combs. Yes, that's how it hit us first, too.

Second and third place went to Brawl in the Family's "Zombie Attack" and Hiimdaisy's "Big Long Persona 4 Comic Part Two," respectively. If you've got a favorite strip you'd like to see in tomorrow's poll, it's not too late to send it in! Just leave a link in the comments section of this post, or shoot us a tip!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is filled with the spirit of All Hallows' Eve

We tend to treat Halloween like any other holiday when it comes to post content -- it's basically an excuse for us to bombard you with topical links to our favorite holiday-themed corners of the internet. Like this one! And this one. And this one! Let's not forget this one. And ... well, no, that's one's just inappropriate. Y'know what? We're going to leave it at four. That's a pleasantly round number.

You know what else is a good number? Seven. Hey, that's how many webcomics we've got lined up for your perusal below! Check them out, vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump, then tell us what strips we may have missed out on in the comments section. Happy Halloween!

Zombie Attack (Brawl in the Family)
Move Over Teen Wolf (Virtual Shackles)
Cabela's Tetris (Of Noobs and Men)
The Big Long Persona 4 Comic Part Two (Hiimdaisy's Livejournal)
Gun Lust (Nerf Now)
Anti-GBA Micro (Digital Unrest)
Babicide (Penny-Arcade)

Readers pick best webcomic: Ambiguitas

We hate to drop spoilers on you guys, but we've gotta impart one important piece of information from Uncharted 2 before the above comic will make any sense: Nathan Drake is a straight up genocidal maniac. Now, this fact is never really explored by the game -- fortunately, Tycho and Gabe managed to expose his manslaughtering habits in last week's Webcomic Wrapup winner, "Ambiguitas." Remember, kids: Henchmen have families, too.

Second and third place went to 2P Start's "Scariest Boo Costume" and Virtual Shackles' "Groundhog Day in Hell," respectively. Got a strip you'd like to see in tomorrow's wrapup? Just drop a link in the comments, or send in a tip!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is pondering a spooky wardrobe

It took a great deal of deliberation for us to settle on our Halloween costume for this year, but we think we landed on a real winner: Every vampire ever. We'll adopt the rich accent of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The keen mathematical mind of Count Chocula. Alucard's penchant for the overdramatic. Edward Cullen's shiny, shiny skin. Spike's bipolarity. The entire cast of True Blood's impossible sensuality. Of course, a costume of this caliber would be way too difficult to pull off for one obvious reason: We're pretty terrible at math.

As you ponder your own Halloween garments, check out our seven favorite webcomics from this past week, listed below. After reading, vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump. After voting, tell us what strips we missed out on in the comments section. After doing that, go enjoy a tall, relaxing glass of lemonade. You've earned it.

Ambiguitas (Penny Arcade)
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy, Joy (Dipswitch)
The Scariest Boo Costume (2P Start)
Awesome Overload (Of Noobs and Men)
Cheers (Nerf Now)
Groundhog Day in Hell (Virtual Shackles)
Balloon Fight (Digital Unrest)

Readers pick best webcomic: The Logic As Applied to Toilets

Make fun of the new, flushless can featured in Digital Unrest's "The Logic As Applied to Toilets" all you want -- it's the future of human waste elimination. See, because it doesn't flush, it's less analog, and therefore, must be more digital. As we all know, digital equals future. We're pretty sure you understand -- you voted the strip into a first place finish in last week's Weekly Webcomic Wrapup.

Second and third place went to Virtual Shackles' "Still Better Than Mafia Wars" and Monday Night Crew's "Half-Minute Hero," respectively. If you've got a favorite webcomic you'd like to see in today's poll, then drop a link in the comments section, or send in a tip!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is Where the Wild Things Are

Ten sentences. That's the length of Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book, which was recently adapted into a full length film by respective geniuses Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers. Say, that's not much longer than the amount of dialogue in your standard three-panel webcomic, is it? We'd pay good money to see a gaming webcomic-to-film adaptation -- though it may lack the innocent sense of wonder that Where the Wild Things Are brought to the table. Those Things, though Wild, rarely made references to genitalia, you see.

Our seven favorite comics from this past week are listed below. Check them over, vote for your favorite after the jump, and tell us which Wild Thing is your favorite in the comments section. (Ours is, of course, Denise Richards.)

The Logic as Applied to Toilets (Digital Unrest)
Garbled for Your Protection (Penny Arcade)
Still Better than Mafia Wars (Virtual Shackles)
Better Without Subtitles (Warning: Uncharted 2 spoilers!) (Of Noobs and Men)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (Another Video Game Webcomic)
Half Minute Hero (Monday Night Crew)
Scott's 360 is Dead (Extra Life)

Readers pick best webcomic: Tweet the Deets

At a whopping 47 panels, 2P Start's "Tweet the Deets" might just be the longest Weekly Webcomic Wrapup entrant in the history of the feature. Fortunately for the comic's creators, it seems our poll participants enjoy a lengthy read -- the comic blew away its contenders in last week's Wrapup. Congratulations, 2P Start crew!

Second and third place went to Virtual Shackles' "In Case of Need I Will Make Big Guns" and Penny Arcade's "My Friend Totoriol," respectively. If you want to submit a strip for consideration in tomorrow's Wrapup, drop a link in the comments, or send in a tip!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is O.C.D.

Oh, we've been waiting for this moment for years, people. At long last, the comics we've chosen as our seven favorite of the week ended up forming a perfect, beautiful staircase without any cajoling or rearranging. Was it fate which lead to such beautiful, orderly construction? Was it divine intervention? We aren't sure -- but we do know that it's just lovely. Almost lovely enough to distract us from the doorknob, which we have to touch 14 times to keep the ghosts at bay, but we're pretty sure we only grazed 13 times earlier today.

The seven aforementioned webcomics are listed below, in a hauntingly beautiful right triangle. Pick your favorite from the seven: Will it be the proud peak? The humble base? The unflagging middle? Let us know by voting in the poll after the jump, and leaving a comment to tell us what hideous, disruptive strips we may have missed out on.

Ridley (BitF)
Tweet the Deets
(2P Start)
My Friend Totoriol (Penny Arcade)
A League of His Own (Digital Unrest)
Same As The Old (Republic) Boss (Dipswitch)
Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Monday Night Crew)
In Case of Need I Will Make Big Guns (Virtual Shackles)

Readers pick best webcomic: Polygonous Polygamy

If the characters in Aion -- regardless of gender -- are as divinely beautiful as Penny Arcade would lead us to believe in their Wrapup-winning strip from last week, "Polygonous Polygamy," then the world of married gaming fanatics is about to be rocked to its core. If you're betrothed, we beseech you: Play something less hazardous to your relationship. Like Second Life! Oh, wait.

Second and third place went to 2P Start's "Eyeing the Prize" and GU Comics' "News Worth Celebrating," respectively. If you feel like tossing your name (or the name of your favorite gaming-related strip) in the hat for this week's wrapup, drop a link in the comments, or send in a tip!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is celebrating Rocktober

In the spirit of a musical appreciation spawned by Brütal Legend (then swiftly trademarked by Activision), we've decided to observe Rocktober in our own special way: By listening to nothing but the heaviest, most hardcore rock music on the planet for the next 30 days. We're talking that heavy metal, friends. We're talking Phil Collins. A little Fleetwood Mac. Perhaps, on warmer days, a touch of Buffett.

Below are our seven favorite rockin' webcomics from this past week. Check them out, then vote for your favorite after the jump. While you're down there, make sure tell us what strips we may have missed out on in the comments section. You could also leave a comment telling us your favorite Phil Collins song -- but we already know the answer is, of course, "Sussidio."

Polygonous Polygamy (Penny Arcade)
Chilean Advertising: Different than American Advertising (Dipswitch)
Eyeing the Prize (2P Start)
The Power of Cutscenes (Virtual Shackles) [Warning: Fable 2 spoilers!]
The Circle of Gaming (Monday Night Crew)
Have You Heard (Plus One)
News Worth Celebrating (GU Comics)

Readers pick best webcomic: The Old Switcheroo

Yes, we intentionally cut the punchline out of the image above, which depicts a pair of panels from last week's Weekly Webcomic Wrapup winner: "The Old Switcheroo" by Dipswitch. We figured it would be best to spare your fragile psyches from the horror that awaited on the final panel in that strip. We'll give you a hint: If Batman is using that shaving cream, that means someone else is using Batman's explosive gel. Here's another hint: He wasn't using it to shave his face. (Congrats, Dipswitch crew!)

Second and third place went to Penny Arcade's "The Wisdom of Solomon" and PvP's "Bat-a-hang," respectively. If you've got a favorite strip you'd like to see in this week's line-up, send it our way in the comments section of this post, or shoot us a tip!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup's cup runneth over

The gaming webcomic community really brought their A-Game this week. When given the choice of "going big" or "going home," they clearly chose the former. You could say they went to town. You might even say they went to town in a Lincoln. In recognition of their efforts, we decided to break our weekly cap of seven strips, bumping the total up to a nice, round 10. We hope you don't mind the extra reading.

Set some time aside to check out our 10 favorite webcomics from the past week, listed below. Don't forget to factor in a bit of extra time to vote in the poll. Given the surplus, it'll probably take you a bit longer to deliberate. Don't give up! We thrive on your democratic input.

Bat-a-hang (PvP)
The Old Switcheroo (Dipswitch)
The Wisdom of Solomon (Penny Arcade)
Prepare to Drop Dollars (Digital Unrest)
Voice/Off (Sidescroller)
Drawing a Blank (2P Start)
Wait, There are Levels? (Virtual Shackles)
Tough Times (Nerf Now)
Where's Waluigi? (Brawl in the Family)
ODST Rly? (Monday Night Crew)

Readers pick best webcomic: Tried to Make Me Go to ReSTART

Once again, relative newcomer Virtual Shackles took top honor in our weekly revue, with a very special look at gaming addiction titled "Tried to Make Me Go to ReSTART." It's a poignant (and relevant) look at medical rehabilitation centers -- though it lacks the subtle hints of irony present in the chart-topping Amy Winehouse song for which it's named. Congratulations, guys!

Second and third place went to xkcd's "Scribblenauts" and Digital Unrest's "A Rupee for Your Thoughts," respectively. If you'd like to suggest an entry for this week's wrapup, drop a link in the comments section below, or hit up our tip line!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is pirate-talkin'

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day, everyone! We hope you've celebrated appropriately -- by discussing the benefits of IP blocking software and remote relay points for worry-free torrent distribution. Just kidding! Piracy is illegal. If you do it, your mom will get brutalized by a SWAT team, you'll be attacked by push broom-wielding inmates, and Klingons will make disparaging comments about your illicit behavior. Trust us on this one.

Below are our seven favorite (piracy-free) webcomics from this past week. Vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump, and tell us what strips we may have missed in the comments section!

Scribbling (Brawl in the Family)
A Rupee for your Thoughts (Digital Unrest)
Penny Arcade (by Tiny Kitten Teeth) (Penny Arcade - Guest Strip)
Caring is Sharing (Nerf NOW)
Scribblenauts (xkcd)
Tried to Make Me Go to ReSTART (Virtual Shackles)
New Sonic Game!!! (GG Guys)
