EA, in an attempt to gain ownership of SSX.com ahead of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ssx-2012">the series' February relaunch</a>, challenged Abstract Holdings International LTD's claim on the address, saying that the URL was registered in "bad faith." A panel at The National Arbitration Forum, however, has determined that EA's argument was insufficient.<br />
<br />
"The EA allegations of bad faith in part are based upon the lack of due diligence conducted by retailers of domain names like Respondent," the Forum determined. "EA would seem to require that entities like Respondent conduct an international search for relatively obscure trademarks in order to determine whether a name is a registered mark. The Panel is not willing to go so far."<br />
<br />
In this case, EA's claim of "bad faith" hinged on the fact that SSX.com briefly contained video game-related advertisements. Since these advertisements are now gone, there's nothing inherently malicious or misleading about the site, negating EA's ability to claim any misuse. For now, SSX.com remains the property of Abstract Holdings, although we imagine several zeroes and a few commas written on EA letterhead would change their minds.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/06/ea-unable-to-gain-rights-to-ssx-com/">EA unable to gain rights to SSX.com</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jan 2012 14:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kirby-mass-attack"><em>Kirby: Mass Attack</em></a> promises to be a barrel of cuteness wrapped in a bow of adorable-osity floating in an ocean of kitties and baby penguins, according to its <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/tadj/index.html#">new Japanese website</a>. If you can stand the brightly colored assault on the senses, the site has bunches of new videos for <em>Mass Attack</em> and enough miniature Kirbies to populate a small, bubblegum-colored island.<br />
<br />
<em>Kirby: Mass Attack </em>is scheduled for release on September 19 for Nintendo DS, so stock up on preventative action movies and death metal now, just in case the cuteness is too much to take later this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/17/test-your-resolve-against-the-kirby-mass-attack-japanese-websit/">Test your resolve against the Kirby: Mass Attack Japanese website</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 17 Jul 2011 19:15:00 EST. This past Wednesday, hackers reportedly broke into the Eidos and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution">Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a></em> websites, erecting an "Owned by Chippy1337" banner and signing some names and aliases below (a possible red herring). In IRC chat logs, <a href="http://krebsonsecurity.com/2011/05/anonymous-splinter-group-implicated-in-game-company-hack/">obtained</a> by former Washington Post reporter Brian Krebs, the hackers also claim to have stolen the personal data of "at least" 80,000 users. So, first things first: If you've registered on an Eidos site or with the <em>Deus Ex</em> site, now's the time to change your password (we should all be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-outage-2011">used to this</a> by now).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-13-deus-ex-hack-game-not-at-risk">Eurogamer</a> has spoken with "Venuism," one of the hackers implicated in the theft, who clarified that the "src" (source code) the hackers allegedly obtained pertains to the <em>Deus Ex</em> website and not the actual game. As of this writing, the <em>Deus Ex</em> website still isn't back to normal, while Eidos.com, which was also apparently compromised, appears fine now. (Venuism maintains that he and the others listed below the banner have been set up by a rival group.)<br />
<br />
Most troubling, Venuism suggested that the stolen user data -- the extent of which is unclear -- had already been leaked. We've contacted Eidos parent company Square Enix for an official comment on the situation.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: Square Enix has confirmed that Eidosmontreal.com and two of its product sites were compromised. The company states that 350 job applicant resumes "may have been accessed" and those individuals are being contacted. Furthermore, 25,000 email addresses, which were "not linked to any additional personal information" were obtained. Read the full Square Enix statement after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/report-eidos-and-deus-ex-websites-hacked-user-information-obta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Eidos and Deus Ex websites hacked, resumes and site registration emails obtained [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/report-eidos-and-deus-ex-websites-hacked-user-information-obta/">Eidos and Deus Ex websites hacked, resumes and site registration emails obtained [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 May 2011 09:48:00 EST. <a href="http://the-witness.net/news/">The official site</a> for Jonathan Blow's "philosophical, and quiet" next project, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-witness"><em>The Witness</em></a>, recently underwent a massive update. While the archaic poetry certainly got our conjecture wheels a-spinning, the renovated site promises more concrete info through continuous updates while the game is developed. <br />
<br />
The blog's first post reveals <a href="http://the-witness.net/news/?p=9">a cadre of concept art</a> for the game, as crafted by designer Eric Urquhart. It looks appropriately pretty and mysterious -- what's behind the door? What's with that force field? Who is the sculptor? Is it all just one big allegory for the atomic bomb? (Whoa, sorry -- we got our J. Blow games mixed up.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/28/official-site-for-jon-blows-the-witness-launches-reveals-con/">Official site for Jon Blow's 'The Witness' launches, reveals concept art</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 28 Feb 2010 13:00:00 EST. <em>Halo: Reach</em> isn't the only story that you'll find in next month's Game Informer -- the magazine's blog has also revealed that the developer known for the past two years as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/2k-boston">2K Boston</a> will be returning to its roots as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/irrational-games">Irrational Games</a>. The change isn't unexpected, as we've seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/01/take-two-files-trademark-for-irrational-boston/">hints of the old identity</a> coming back to the spotlight for a while. But apparently the company is going full force with the "renewed commitment" to the legacy: it'll be kicking off a new website soon (in about three days and 16 hours as of this writing, according to the countdown now running on <a href="http://www.irrationalgames.com/">IrrationalGames.com</a>) that will contain lots of community features and information about Irrational's past -- including fan favorites like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/system-shock-2"><em>System Shock 2</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/freedom-force">Freedom Force</a>, </em>in addition to 2K Boston's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock"><em>BioShock</em></a> and future titles.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, the company has a new logo -- spiffy! -- and the next Game Informer will have more information about the studios' history and why it made the choice to turn back the clock on its identity. We look forward to reading all about it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/08/2k-boston-is-bringing-back-irrational-games-name-legacy/">2K Boston is bringing back Irrational Games name, legacy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Jan 2010 19:30:00 EST. The folks behind our favorite high school lifestyle sim/dungeon crawler series, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/persona"><em>Persona</em></a>, are apparently having some internet woes. It seems that yesterday, a "third-party entity" hacked <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/atlus">Atlus</a>' website (currently still down) and managed to embed a trojan that, "may have made its way" onto the system. The publisher is guessing that those who may have been affected by the trojan would have visited its website between 9AM PST and 2:30 PST, give or take.<br /><br />While we're used to whacky press releases from Atlus, this is most certainly <em>not</em> one of those. If you believe you may have been affected by this trojan, the company implores you to "run malware removal software," though, more than likely, you probably aren't reading this if that's the case, eh? All jokes aside, Atlus does seem to sincerely apologize, stating, "The faith and trust of our fans is of the utmost importance to us, a responsibility we don't take lightly." Here's hoping the <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2007/20070716.jpg">dirty, dirty <em>haxxorz</em></a> didn't get to you!<br /><br />

It appears that the <a href="http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Animus">ANIMUS</a> has been fired up once again. A <a href="http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/teaser/">teaser site</a> has appeared for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Assassins-Creed-2/">Assassin's Creed 2</a></em>, along with a host of clues about the future of the franchise. While the teaser leaves a lot to the imagination, it does feature Leonardo da Vinci's famous <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitruvian_Man">Vitruvian Man</a></em> quite prominently, lending credence to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/rumor-assassins-creed-2-details-uncovered/">the rumor</a> that the sequel is set in the Renaissance era.<br /> <br /> Beyond snippets of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15th_century">15th century artwork</a>, the teaser site doesn't reveal any other details for the Assassin's second outing. The website does, however, include an interesting bonus: Printing off a logo of an artifact that displays at the end of the teaser video and holding it up to a web cam while on a special section of the website reveals <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/1474334/full/">a 3D model</a> of Altair's hidden blade weapon -- which appears to be one of five images available. Spooky ... but, hey, marketing team! Wasn't Altair (and the rest of his assassin brethren) missing a finger?<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Update:</span> Thanks to our commenters who pointed out a backwards message that says "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/1477892/">Game Informer 04.16.09.</a>" Expect more <span style="font-style: italic;">Assassin's Creed 2</span> news soon!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/">Assassin's Creed 2 - Teaser Site</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/#1474309"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/animus2222_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/#1474311"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/animus33333_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/#1474310"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/animus5555_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/#1474322"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/animus88888_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site/#1474312"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/animus66666_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site-launches-includes-severed-arm/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassin's Creed 2 teaser site launches, includes severed arm [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/assassins-creed-2-teaser-site-launches-includes-severed-arm/">Assassin's Creed 2 teaser site launches, includes severed arm [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 15:15:00 EST. Not only do we have the first two non-scanned shots of the game in our gallery below, and the first trailer after the break, but the official website has more action shots, as well as a beautiful downloadable wallpaper that features the aforementioned concept art. If Square Enix is trying to whip us into a froth for this one, well, it's working. Not that they have to do much to get us going. <br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/first-screens-and-video-from-blood-of-bahamut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First screens and video from Blood of Bahamut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/first-screens-and-video-from-blood-of-bahamut/">First screens and video from Blood of Bahamut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Nov 2008 11:00:00 EST. <br />Along with the news that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/26/segas-new-rpg-world-destruction-depicted/"><em>World Destruction</em></a> will be releasing in Japan on September 25th (shock, gasp, it was pushed back a week!), Sega has released a new video for the title. Although it shows some more gameplay footage, most of it is your classic RPG fodder and not battle scenes. Still, we're pretty impressed by how it seems to be turning out. Not only does it look great and have an interesting story, but the 300 event scenes and plethora of maps and voices that Sega promised should be enough to excite any RPG gamer.<br /><br />Also, folks interested in the game (or anime, or comic) can go and check out <em>World Destruction's</em> <a href="http://wd.sega.jp/">official website</a>. There's not much in the "Game" section, aside from a nice-looking background and a gorgeous song (the one from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/31/trailers-created-for-world-destruction/">previous trailers</a>), but the song alone is enough to get us to keep on coming back until they add some content.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/25/sega-shows-more-destruction/">Sega shows more Destruction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Jul 2008 20:00:00 EST. It's still lacking in compelling content, however, aside from a downloadable wallpaper and a beautiful background song. (You can also see the Japanese character profiles for Roxas and Axel, as well as browse through a few screens in the "Story" section.)<br /><br />The other interesting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/a-move-toward-the-original-rumored-kingdom-hearts-details/"><em>358/2 Days</em></a> news is that in the manual for the DS remake of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/theres-plenty-to-do-in-dragon-quest-v/">Dragon Quest V</a> </em>(which released last week in Japan), an ad for the game boasts "Coming 2008." We'll probably find out for sure at Square Enix's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/kingdom-hearts-sigma-harmonics-playable-at-square-enix-event/">DK&Sigma;3713 event</a> whether this is true or just an advertiser's wishful thinking, although it's important to keep in mind that us non-Japanese gamers will have to wait for localization, anyway.<br /><br />[Update: Everything on the website is translated into English <a href="http://www.khinsider.com/latest/358-2-days-official-site-opens.html">here</a>. <em> Blue Dragon Plus</em> is only a few months away (if you happen to live in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/blue-dragon-plus-in-japan-this-september-with-uninspiring-box/">Japan</a>). It's not too much of a stretch to expect a delay in North America, despite the vague "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/blue-dragon-away-shuffle-dungeon-confirmed-for-u-s/">fiscal year</a>" confirmations we've been hearing about. The artwork of Akira Toriyama must be acknowledged on a tiny screen real soon, or RPG fans are going to start dishing out angry mob justice.<br /><br />The "promise" we experienced with the <em>Blue Dragon Plus</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/blue-dragon-plus-site-shows-promise/">website</a> has been somewhat fulfilled, after being updated with a new Japanese trailer. While this isn't especially handy for English speakers, it does run for over three minutes, giving fans a good deal of gameplay footage, CG cutscenes and character art. We've managed to circumvent the awkward media player on the website and rustle up the trailer in all of its YouTube glory, so check it out and get your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blue-dragon-plus/"><em>Blue Dragon</em></a> nerve twitching.<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/07/16/blue-dragon-plus-ds-official-site-and-video-released/">videogaming247</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/blue-dragon-plus-website-adds-a-new-trailer/">Blue Dragon Plus website adds a new trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Jul 2008 15:30:00 EST. Hold on, what's all this? A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/inconsequential-sadness-news-287-website-more-details-comi/"><em>Sadness</em> rumor</a> that actually came true? This can't be right -- and it sort of isn't. <a href="http://nibris.net/projekty_sadness_en.html">The website</a> is there, and it's got stuff on it, but the stuff is old and it's a pretty amateur attempt at a website. It's just, you would think that the creators of the most talked-about Wii game <em>pretty much ever</em> would make the effort to put together a good show, but it looks somewhat awful.<br /><br />The screens are old and tiny, the text is formatted all wrong (and translated poorly), and there is no trailer, although it will be "Coming soon (this vacation maybe)." Maybe? <em>Maybe</em>? Whatever.<br /><br />To top it off, the release is scheduled for Fall 2009. That is, over a year from now. On the plus side, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nibris/">Nibris</a> representatives will be attending the Leipzig Game Convention this year, so if nothing turns up at E3 we might find something there.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/">Sadness</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#855243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/sdns-nwf-may31_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#740193"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/sadness-screen-nwf-0407_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#551776"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/pos1ue2279af_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#551774"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/sdns011ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#551773"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/sdns008ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=48292">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/sadness-website-does-nothing-to-dispel-vaporware-rumors/">Sadness website does nothing to dispel vaporware rumors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 09:30:00 EST. We'll post about this "news", oh yes -- but until a physical copy of the game is actually in a Nintendo Wii console, right in front of us and running properly, we won't be certain of its existence. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/nibris-licenses-gamebryo-for-sadness/">Forward motion</a> is a myth.<br /><br />The latest on Sadness is thus: the official website will be launched next week, along with some new images. A chap from Fog Studios (because they're so damn <em>hazy</em> on the details) says it's all real, and Nibris is still working away <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/nintendo-states-the-obvious-regarding-sadness/">without a publisher</a>. The lack of a publisher means a lack of a release date. If the game exists.<br /><br />Rest assured, if any of the above <em>actually happens</em>, we will let you know. We know what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/nibris-returning-with-more-promises/">a promise</a> from anyone remotely associated with <em>Sadness</em> is worth, so don't hold your breath.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/">Sadness</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#855243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/sdns-nwf-may31_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#740193"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/sadness-screen-nwf-0407_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#551776"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/pos1ue2279af_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#551774"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/sdns011ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sadness-1/#551773"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/sdns008ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=46986">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/inconsequential-sadness-news-287-website-more-details-comi/">Inconsequential Sadness news #287 -- website, more details 'coming'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jun 2008 16:15:00 EST. <div align="center"><a href="http://www.taito.co.jp/english/csm/sie/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/invadersweb_cs_0604.jpg" alt="" /></a><br /></div>
Both the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/arkanoid/"><em>Arkanoid DS</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/nms08-joystiq-impressions-roundup/">Space Invaders Extreme</a> </em>websites went live yesterday, and they couldn't be more different. Going to the <em>Arkanoid</em> website is like going to a Saturday brunch with your mother, while going to the <em>SIE</em> site is like hitting up a night club twelve hours later, staying out until 5 AM, and puking up everything you've had to drink before bedtime (we mean that in the best of ways).<br /><br />If you want something more descriptive than a simile, the <em>Arkanoid</em> site is cleaner and more organized than its <em>Invaders</em> counterpart (and it's also silent), but we think that may be because there's no "Extreme" in its title to live up to. Those who prefer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/space-invaders-extreme-and-arkanoid-ds-in-a-color-explosion/">trippy visuals</a> and loud music on their web browsers, though, should head on over to the <em>SIE</em> page (consider this a <strong>sound alert</strong> for those of you in "not safe for audio" workspaces). If you've visited the Japanese website for this title before, you'll know what to expect, as it's <em>exactly the same</em>.<br /><br />As it stands, there's not much to do on either site except read about the games. We were hoping that little demos or browser games would be present, but alas, our wants were denied. <br /><br />At least we'll see the real things in only two weeks.<br /><br /><br /><br />[Via press release]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.taito.co.jp/english/csm/arkanoid_ds/">Source:</a> <em>Arkanoid DS </em>official website<br /><a href="http://www.taito.co.jp/english/csm/sie/sie_ds/index.html">Source:</a> <em>Space Invaders Extreme</em> official website<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/space-invaders-extreme-and-arkanoid-websites-are-polar-opposites/">Space Invaders Extreme and Arkanoid websites are polar opposites</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 15:00:00 EST. Did you neglect <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/08/wii-fit-preorders-jog-away-from-retailers/">to preorder</a> <em>Wii Fit</em> or pick it up on launch day, yet still want to buy Nintendo's much hyped fitness title? Then you might have noticed that it's pretty hard to find, depending on where you live. If <a href="http://catalog.ebay.com/Wii-Fit_UPC_045496901080_W0QQ_fclsZ1QQ_fifptsZ1QQ_pidZ61478816QQ_tabZ2">eBay is any indication</a> of the market's general trends, though, supply is currently not meeting the game's demand.<br /><br />Should you want to avoid the hassle of calling all your local stores and waiting on lines, you might want to utilize <a href="http://www.zoolert.com/wiifit.html">zooLert</a>. The website updates every two minutes, checking all the major online retailers that are selling <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/metareview-wii-fit/"><em>Wii Fit</em></a>. You can have the site email you when the game is in stock online, or even add the feed to your RSS so that you don't have to constantly watch the page.<br /><br />Procrastinators, this one's for you.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://cheapassgamer.com">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/tracking-wii-fits-online-availability/">Tracking Wii Fit's online availability</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 May 2008 16:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/wii-fanboy-review-final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as/"><em>My Life as a King</em></a> fan, are you? Then you'll be happy to know that Square Enix created a <a href="http://member.square-enix.com/na/mylifeasaking_fcdoor.php">love-fest site</a> for the game, in which you take a break from being the king and become the adventurer instead.<br /><br />When you first enter the site (assuming you've logged into your Square Enix Member's account), you'll be greeted by a quiz that will determine your job (this blogger sadly conjured up the <em>lamest of the lame</em> jobs, the white mage). Once you have a job and a house, you can dally around the town.<br /><br />Different places in the virtual kingdom let you do various things. At the castle, you can write questions, comments, or thoughts about the game to its developers. Throughout the town you can also check out the bulletin to see the "king's behests," download some goodies (like screen savers), see other members' "houses," and other random stuff.<br /><br />The website is a nice idea for fan service, but to be honest, there's no reason to spend more than five minutes there at the moment. Hopefully Square Enix will add some more neat things to it soon.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/square-enix-launches-everyone-s-kingdom-website-86919.phtml">Destructoid</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/my-life-in-the-everyones-kingdom-website/">My Life in the Everyone's Kingdom website</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 May 2008 22:33:00 EST. That doesn't make the wait any easier, though, so we're glad Square Enix recently updated the official North American website with <em>actual stuff</em> to keep us busy.<br /> <br /> Assuming you can make it past the site's <em>annoyingly slow</em> load time, you might enjoy some of the things it has to offer. So far, multimedia and information on the battle system is listed as "coming soon," but there's still plenty to keep you occupied. Mainly, you can look at a few character profiles, and also some of the different races and classes that will be available in the game. <br /><br />We can already see our summer evaporating right in front of our very eyes.<br /><br />

We know how much you kids love your Squeenix, so we hope you're intrigued by the company's refreshingly new IP, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/square-enix-reveals-new-adventure-rpg-sigma-harmonics/">Sigma Harmonics</a></em>. If you're not, you should still check out it's <a href="http://www.square-enix.co.jp/sigma/">Japanese website</a>. Even though most of us here at DS Fanboy can't read a lick of Japanese, we've never wanted a game so much before <em>because of</em> an official site. The art looks all kinds of gorgeous, and clicking on the "Story" link makes you feel like you're watching a trailer. We're also fond of the song choice -- it somehow puts hints of noir into a whimsical melody.<br /><br />Last but not least, there are some wallpapers to download, if you're into that sort of thing. <br /><br />

There may be more Mega Man games than you'll ever get to play (or <em>want</em> to play) in your lifetime, but that hasn't stopped Capcom from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/its-official-mega-man-is-the-most-milked-series-ever/">milking the franchise</a> even more.<br /><br />The next game planned for the Blue Bomber is another title in the <span style="font-style: italic;">Star Force</span> series. Yes, those of us outside of Japan haven't even gotten <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/mega-man-star-force-2-forces-details-upon-us/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man Star Force 2</span></a> yet, but a third game is already on it's way. <br /><br />Capcom has put up a <a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/ryusei3/">teaser website</a> for it, which is actually pretty nice-looking as far as official sites go. Currently, though, you can only download a wallpaper version of the picture shown above.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=41268">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/teaser-site-reveals-mega-man-star-force-3/">Teaser site reveals Mega Man Star Force 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 18:00:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.wipeouthd.com/en_GB/index.html">official <em>WipEout HD</em> website</a> is ready to visit and includes a huge amount of information on the game. For those of you who are fed up reading, there are plenty of pretty pictures of all of the tracks and vehicles. Not only that but you can preview the soundtrack of the game and even watch fly-throughs of some of the levels. Phew. Just about the only thing you <em>can't</em> do is play the damn thing. Not until it's released in "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/mtv-dates-upcoming-psn-games/">late May or early June,</a>" anyway. <br /><br />If you're not already psyched up for this game and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/wipeout-hd-trailer-need-we-say-more/">last trailer</a> didn't do it for you, be sure to check out the website. It's certainly got us excited for the title all over again.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/wipeout-hd-website-lets-you-know-exactly-what-to-expect-from-the/">WipEout HD website lets you know exactly what to expect from the game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 14:00:00 EST. We often <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/03/contra-4-owns-your-face-even-more-with-its-official-site/">let</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/30/populous-teases-us-with-website/">you</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/25/dungeon-explorer-website-ready-for-exploring/">readers</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/14/days-of-ruin-official-website-advances-on-the-internet/">know</a> when websites for games go live. That got us to wondering, though -- just how many of you like to look at official game sites?<br /><br />If you <em>do</em> tend to visit these websites on occasion, what brings you to them? Do you often check them out for titles you're really excited for? Or, do you normally wait until a gaming blog has something to say about a particular site before your curiosity makes you venture over? Also, has an awesome (or terrible) website ever pushed you over the fence on whether or not to buy a game?<br /><br />I guess what we're asking is, just how important are game websites to you when all is said and done?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/09/ds-daily-official-websites/">DS Daily: Official websites</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Feb 2008 10:30:00 EST. In order to promote its upcoming game, though, Atari has recently added some rather disturbing stories about Central Park to the game's official<em> </em>website. For those of you lucky enough to enjoy <em>Wipeout Pulse</em> right now, you may want to pay attention. The official <em>Wipeout</em> website has opened, and it features a skin editor so you can create your very own ship designs and import them into the game. You'll need a PLAYSTATION Network ID in order to get started.<br />
<br />
We're going to join the others that are going to play with this fun new tool -- even though we don't have the game yet! We're confident that a lot of PSP Fanboys are going to do the same.<br />

The Japanese website for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/ffiv-looking-as-sumptuous-as-ever-in-new-trailer/"><em>Final Fantasy IV</em></a> has updated with new goodies. First off, is an update to the character section, which describes a lot of the game's characters. There is also the download section, which has some sweet wallpapers available. Three of those wallpapers are of in-game characters, with the last new wallpaper available being one kickass piece of concept art. So, head on over and check the new stuff out.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=31292">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/final-fantasy-iv-japanese-site-rolls-out-the-updates/">Final Fantasy IV Japanese site rolls out the updates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 13:30:00 EST. Following its participation at Jump Festa, there isn't much of anything new to report on regarding the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/26/first-glimpse-of-the-upcoming-kingdom-hearts/"><em>Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days</em></a> for the DS. That is, except that there is a new teaser site for the game. But, as with the game itself, there isn't anything new there ... yet. We're suggesting you get your bookmark on, as it's bound to be updated in the near future with juicy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/screens">screens</a> and tidbits of information.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=31195">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/10/kingdom-hearts-358-2-days-gets-its-tease-on/">Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days gets its tease on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Dec 2007 10:30:00 EST. The official site for <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> has expanded from a sly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/13/final-fantasy-iv-vocalist-wanted/">tease</a> into something bigger and better. A few character portraits are up, which juxtapose the in-game images with some of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/22/its-a-whole-new-world-for-final-fantasy-iv/">artwork</a> we found so eye-catching, as well as a few other tidbits. The "download" section isn't up yet, but we'll guess that eventually wallpapers will fill that space.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.jeux-france.com/news21721_final-fantasy-iv-ouvre-ses-portes.html">Jeux-France</a> has also reconfirmed that the game will be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/03/dragon-quest-iv-and-others-playable-at-tgs/">playable at this month's Tokyo Game Show</a>.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/07/final-fantasy-iv-site-expands/">Final Fantasy IV site expands</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 16:30:00 EST. The "actual content" we speak of is none other than several small videos, each of which covers some of <em>Forever Blue's</em> (or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/e307-forever-blue-crossing-the-pond-as-endless-ocean/"><em>Endless Ocean</em></a> to us English-speaking folk) many aspects.The last video, which is much too short for our liking, even gives us a look at the co-op diving <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/10/japanese-forever-blue-boxart-revealed/">promised</a> by the title. Other videos highlight the perfectly normal diving technique of <em>petting and poking every underwater lifeform you come across</em>.<br /><br />We can't wait to play this game! <br />With cinematics and tutorials galore in modern games, it's a wonder that we ever get around to the actual gameplay. Maybe that's why Joystiq's own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/kyle-orland/">Kyle Orland</a> has started <a href="http://gamesforlunch.blogspot.com/">Games for Lunch</a>, a unique videogame review blog that judges games on the first hour alone.<br /><br />Every weekday, Kyle sits down with one game, for one hour, and writes a play-by-play transcript of his experience and opinions. At the end of each review, Orland rates the game by deciding whether it's worth playing for more than an hour. The reviews are succinct and snappy, and they demonstrate just how much gameplay actually makes it into the first hour of the games. Already flush with pages of content, and updating daily with new reviews, Games for Lunch is worth checking out, if only for that magic hour.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/kyle-orland-eats-games-for-lunch-on-new-review-site/">Kyle Orland eats games for lunch on new review site</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Jul 2007 22:30:00 EST. Back in April, Dan Marshall of <a href="http://www.gibbage.co.uk/">Gibbage.co.uk</a> announced an initiative to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/10/indie-gaming-site-to-fund-fresh-and-funky-and-innovative-and-ex/">fund fresh new indie projects</a> using the limited revenue from the site. If Dan saw a team working on something that the world needed to see, out comes the sack of cash to help the programmers focus on creating. Now, Gibbage has turned up the heat a notch and transformed into an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/indie">indie gaming</a> portal featuring the "latest and greatest tippy-top new Indie games". Indeed.<br /><br />We're sorry to see the blog format go, but the portal will help fund more games and serve as a hub for newbies to the indie scene. Like some sort of space-time feedback loop, getting games there <em>magically</em> creates more games in the future.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/16/indie-gaming-blog-gibbage-turns-into-a-portal/">Indie gaming blog Gibbage turns into a portal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 Jun 2007 10:26:00 EST. At least, we hope that the new English version of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/10/new-details-on-doki-doki-majo-saiban/"><em>Doki Doki Majo Shinpan</em></a> site means we might see it in this part of the world sometime in the distant future. Though the site still only lists a Japanese date, there are at least two translated versions -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/15/the-witch-groping-phenomenon-goes-international/">Chinese</a> and this rough new English site -- so we'll keep our eyes peeled for any signs of a non-Japanese release. <br /><br />[Thanks, Ricardo!]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/07/english-speaking-gamers-can-hunt-witches-too/">English-speaking gamers can hunt witches, too</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jun 2007 18:50:00 EST. Founder and writer Boson (who apparently can't blow bubbles with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/26/david-jaffe-compares-xbox-live-to-ashlee-simpson/">bubblegum</a>) made the announcement over the weekend. GameHippo features only legit freeware games, unlike many of the sketchy sites lurking in dark corners of the web. No demos, no shareware, and no <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/02/mac-users-arent-really-into-game/">ruddy Mac titles</a> (all eight of them). <br /><br />The purchasing party was not revealed, though Boson did say "he's just a good old guy like myself". The site has been stagnant over the last few months, so the first order of business will be to push a few new games onto the front page.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://indygamer.blogspot.com/2007/04/gamehippo-sold.html">Independent Gaming</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/23/freeware-downloads-site-gamehippo-sold/">Freeware downloads site GameHippo sold</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Apr 2007 16:28:00 EST. It's the usual fare of media essentials (including a <a target="_blank" href="http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/_media/_vid/teaser_trailer.html">link</a> to the new trailer) enhanced by a creepy 40s-era motif. If anything, the attention to detail on the site is a reminder that Irrational isn't playing around. Having earned numerous 'Best of Show' awards at E3 this year, <em>Bioshock</em> is certainly a game we should look forward to.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/18/bioshock-website-is-alive/">Bioshock website is alive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Dec 2006 14:25:00 EST. Brawl</em> director Masahiro Sakurai has updated the official game site, adding a polished version of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/03/new-smash-bros-brawl-trailer-flaunt-combos-fox/" target="_blank">Nintendo Word 2006 trailer</a>, which debuted earlier this month. Aside from crisper audio and visuals, the new version includes English text (not that this provides new information).<br /><br />Sakurai also dropped some more "screen shots" onto the site -- as always, don't expect the quality of these images to reflect that of the actual game. As for a release date, Sakurai vaguely writes, "it will be a little while longer before you can play it!"<br /><br />[Thanks, insertnamehere]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/new-smash-bros-trailer-in-english/">New Smash Bros. trailer, in English</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Nov 2006 14:45:00 EST. The official US website for this RPG opened a few days ago, and gives a few tidbits on the game's story and characters. With the "Trailer" and "System" sections of the site currently unavailable, it seems like we'll have more to report on in the coming weeks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/25/valhalla-knights-english-website-opens/">Valhalla Knights English website opens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Nov 2006 11:20:00 EST.
