Sure, there are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-clash"><em>some</em> Clash songs</a> available for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-3">Rock Band 3</a></em>, but how about the entirety of the band's most famous (and arguably best) album, London Calling? Coming February 1, you can get just that.<br />
<br />
Out of the legendary album's 18 tracks, five have "Pro" guitar and bass functionality available for an extra $1 each, while all of them have <em>thoroughly enjoyable music and lyrics</em>. As per usual, individual tracks are available for 160 MS Points/200 Wii Points/$1.99, and the entire album can be purchased (at a hefty discount) for 1600 MS Points/2000 Wii Points/$19.99.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/27/rock-band-3-to-receive-a-london-calling-this-february/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rock Band Weekly: The Clash's 'London Calling' album</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/27/rock-band-3-to-receive-a-london-calling-this-february/">Rock Band Weekly: The Clash's 'London Calling' album</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Jan 2011 18:00:00 EST. Looking to expand your <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dj-hero-2">DJ Hero 2</a></em> and/or <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock">Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock</a></em> catalogues at a significant discount? Activision's <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/free-downloadable-content-now-available-for-dj-hero-2-and-guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock-presented-by-coca-cola-110117594.html">offering of free DLC</a> for each game seeks to solve your problem, adding a DJ Tiesto-mixed three-track pack to <em>DJ Hero 2</em> and a My Chemical Romance pack to <em>Warriors of Rock</em>, each of which is free in the US "via redemption code while supplies last." The catch: each pack is free for <em>this week only</em> before becoming paid content on November 30 (also, the content for <em>Warriors of Rock</em> is only available to Xbox 360 owners).<br />
<br />
Details for both packs can be found after the break, including pricing for when they're no longer free next week. But hey, you're on top of things, so you're totally gonna get them while they're free. Head over to Activision and Coca-Cola's <a href="http://www.mycoke.com/guitarhero">code generating website</a> "while supplies last."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/23/dj-hero-2-and-guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock-free-dlc-available-n/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DJ Hero 2 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock free DLC available now until Nov. 30</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/23/dj-hero-2-and-guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock-free-dlc-available-n/">DJ Hero 2 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock free DLC available now until Nov. 30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Nov 2010 16:30:00 EST. <font color="red">Update 2:</font> "View Compatible Controllers" is now a separate link in the details of each game listing in the Shop Channel. Also, we've corrected the Japanese version number. It's 3.3 everywhere, up from the last update ... 3.3.<br /><font color="red"><br />Update:</font> Reader John writes in and points us to <a href="http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_System_Updates">Wiibrew</a>, who is reporting this update kills The Homebrew Channel, as well as the Mplayer that makes DVD play possible. If you've already followed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guide-to-watching-dvds-on-wii/974761/">our guide for playing DVDs</a> and installed The Homebrew Channel, then you're fine. <br /><br />Chances are, your Wii may have told you this already -- either through the friendly blue light or a message that pops up when you load the Wii Shop Channel. But in case it hasn't, Nintendo has sent out a new Wii firmware update. In <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/10/23/nintendo-preps-for-dsi-launch-with-shopping-channel-update/">Japan</a>, the software is <strike>up to 3.4</strike> still <a href="http://www.inside-games.jp/news/318/31868.html">3.3</a>. The Shop Channel is down for maintenance as well, as all references to Wii Points are changed to "Nintendo Points" and various other pre-DSi maintenance is done. But in America and Europe, not much seems to have changed.<br /><br />This <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339752">NeoGAF thread</a> is tracking the potential changes -- most notably that some people are now unable to install the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/28/wii-homebrew-made-dead-simple/">Homebrew Channel</a>. People with pre-existing installations are fine, but it's possible that this new update has blocked the ability to install homebrew. There <em>was</em> a fairly ominous message in the update description about deleting altered saves! Of course, these reports could turn out to be in error.<br /><br />Other reported effects include improved Shop Channel loading speed, possibly reorganized item listings, and nothing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/new-system-update-may-block-homebrew-channel/">New System Update may block Homebrew Channel [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 10:51:00 EST. A new system update for Japanese Wii consoles has introduced an intriguing new function to the Wii Shop Channel: bonus content. The feature, which prompts users to enter a 16-digit code when accessed, has so far been used to distribute the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/nintendo-wii-speaker-channel-for-blasting-band-bros-sequel/">Wii Speaker Channel</a> using a key included with <em>Daigasso! Band Brothers DX</em> for the Nintendo DS.<br /><a href="http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=2108"><br />Nintendo Everything</a> and <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/07/23/the-new-japanese-wii-shop-menu-item-demystified/">Wii Fanboy</a> speculate that the Shop Channel's new feature could potentially be used to redeem codes included with games for everything from free Wii Points to downloadable content and Virtual Console titles. Might we suggest a code that, when entered, simply rewards users with smiles? Nintendo certainly has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/engadget-and-joystiq-live-from-nintendos-e3-2008-keynote/5">a lot of them</a> to go around.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/07/23/the-new-japanese-wii-shop-menu-item-demystified/">NWF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/nintendo-debuts-wii-bonus-content-feature-in-japan/">Nintendo debuts Wii 'Bonus Content' feature in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Jul 2008 02:00:00 EST. <div align="left">The latest Japanese Wii software update added <a href="http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=2108">this item</a> to the Wii Shop Channel's settings, with a gold icon and a label about "bonus content." Above it is a link to Club Nintendo through the browser and a link to the settings for Wii Shop presents. The "bonus content" link prompts users to enter 16-digit codes before being awarded ... something. But <em>what is this bonus content? </em>Free Wii Points as a promotion for game purchases? VC games linked to retail games in the same series? A puppy?<br /><br />It might be that stuff later, but for right now, it's how you get the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/band-brothers-dx-speaker-channel-in-action/">Speaker Channel</a> that interfaces with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/band-brothers-dx"><em>Daigasso! Band Brothers DX</em></a> on the DS. A bit disappointing, sure, but having infrastructure in place for Wii Shop bonus stuff could lead to interesting things in the future. <br /><br />

Hopefully it'll help some of you determine whether or not this Channel is worth your download. Personally, we think it is.<br /><br />Watch as we check out the many informative videos available, as well as the plethora of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/wiis-nintendo-channel-ds-demos-now-available/">DS demos</a> on tap.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/wii-fanboy-walks-you-through-the-nintendo-channel/">Wii Fanboy walks you through the Nintendo Channel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 May 2008 10:30:00 EST. <span style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 7px;"> <script> var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/nintendo/Wii_Update_Nintendo_Channel'; </script> <script src="http://digg.com/api/diggthis.js"></script></span> That blue glow from our Wiis can only mean one thing -- time for an update!<br /><br />This wasn't just any old update, though. After months of coveting the service, the Nintendo Channel (known in Japan as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/27/everybodys-nintendo-channel-available-in-japan-to-sate-hungry-d/">Everybody's Nintendo Channel</a>) is finally available for download via the Wii Shop Channel. The download is free, but will take up a few blocks, so make sure you have enough space. You'll also need to have updated your Wii since March 20th in order to get it, according to Nintendo.<br /><br />We're pretty pleased with what the channel has to offer so far. There's already around forty videos available for your viewing pleasure. Most of them are just trailers for upcoming Nintendo games, but there's also a nice little <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/miyamoto-is-your-time-person-of-the-year/">Miyamoto</a> interview.<br /><br />Aside from watching videos, make sure to click on the "Find Titles for You" tab. Here, you can check out the newest titles for Nintendo consoles, and also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/wiis-nintendo-channel-ds-demos-now-available/">download demos for DS games</a>.<br /><br />These are just our initial impressions from browsing around the channel, so if you notice any other neat features, be sure to let us know in the comments! Nintendo also posted a video of the various things you can do with the channel, which you can check out <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/wii/channels/nintendochannel">here</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/nintendo-channel-now-live/">Nintendo Channel now live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 May 2008 06:30:00 EST. <font color="red">Update:</font> Looks like the Wii Shop Channel is back up and running fine. <br /><br />Imagine our surprise when going online to check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/vc-monday-madness-river-city-ransom-and-some-other-game/">this week's Virtual Console releases</a>, anxious to try <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/is-this-fun-yet-it-will-be-next-week/">the game</a> you all are undoubtedly looking forward to, when we see this screen. For shame, Nintendo, to play with our emotions and expectations. We <em>need</em> this game, so let us have it already!<br /><br />No word on when the maintenance will be over, but we'll keep checking it. If you notice before us, be sure to toss us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tips/">a tip</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/wii-shop-channel-down-for-maintenance/">Wii Shop Channel down for maintenance [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:04:00 EST. <br />We've known <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/28/c64-games-to-hit-virtual-console/">since late 2006</a> that Nintendo intended to add classic titles from the Commodore 64's library to its Virtual Console service, but Nintendo of Europe has been hesitant to reveal any concrete details until now. <br /><br />According to NoE, the C64 games are only planned for release in Europe so far, and they will be available to purchase for 500 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiipoints">Wii Points</a> (&euro;5, approximately $7.35) later this year. 500 Wii Points?! That's as much as an NES release on the Wii Shop Channel!<br /><br />Nintendo has already confirmed <span style="font-style: italic;">Uridium</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">International Karate</span> as potential VC titles, both of which you can find video for after the post break. The 25-year-old console has a line-up of over 4,000 games to draw from, so it's guaranteed that we'll see regular C64 releases for years. Maybe this means that Nintendo will start putting out three to four Virtual Console games a week again.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/commodore-64-games-coming-to-european-vc-later-this-year/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Commodore 64 games coming to European VC later this year</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/commodore-64-games-coming-to-european-vc-later-this-year/">Commodore 64 games coming to European VC later this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Feb 2008 09:45:00 EST.
