If that sounds like a lot of nerve-wracking work, well ... it is. But there's only one thing more terrifying than that: the size of the rooms at the Boston Convention Center, PAX East's embiggened new digs. We'll level with you: We can't fill 'em. They're too large! But we've never been above stone cold bribery. Seeing as how bribery is such a pejorative term, we're going to call it the Joystiq PAX East Loyalty Program, and here's how it works.
  • Attendees of Friday night's Joystiq Podcast LIVE!: The Reunion - 7:30 to 8:30pm in the Wyvern Theatre - will get a raffle ticket while waiting in line. We'll have some prizes to hand out during the podcast, but we'll have way more to hand out over the course of the show.

  • Finally, you can attend the "Ten Games You Need to Play: The Digital Game Canon" panel at the IGDA Dev Center on Sunday, at 2PM, or "It's Not The Length or the Mirth: Game Length vs. Value" on Sunday in the Wyvern theatre at 4:30PM. The prizes? Uh ... the discussion generated by the esteemed panelists, of course. Yeah, let's go with that.

Update: After playing a single online game, EA's servers booted us right out of play and wouldn't allow us to reconnect. We'll reschedule a real event soon.

You may have noticed some of our regular features have been MIA in recent weeks. In order to prepare for E3 and make time (and room) for special features, some of our content has been put on a temporary hiatus. Until the madness that is E3 subsides we're putting a hold on Community Content, Would You Rather and Points>Life -- technically, just Xav. You may see random special editions of our content during the event as special bonuses, but we're just giving you the heads up incase you were wondering where your favorite feature is.

As you may be aware, if you listened to the latest X3F Fancast -- Richard, Dustin and Alexander will be bringing the show on the road with special podcasts as E3 progresses. It's another way we're keeping everyone at home up to date while allowing the home crew to recharge the batteries.

One thing we can't put on hold for now is X3F Live and considering the popularity of Battlefield: Bad Company on our friends list we're going to be game hunting later tonight (again, just Xav). So tonight from 9 to 10 PM EST watch out for Gamertag: Snypz and hopefully we can cause some mayhem together. This isn't an organized event, but Xav is looking for some game time before the craziness takes over!

Update: Well, it seems that no internet was any match for a decent game of Team Fortress 2. All of us (Xav, Richard and Dustin) attempted to get a game going but twice it crashed and once it was so laggy your character went for a swim in the 2Fort water without your permission! So. That in mind, tomorrow night at 9:30 PM - 11:30 PM we're going to host a roundtable of Halo 3 madness! Join us tomorrow and let us all thank Team Fortress 2's bad connection for a great time! Thaaaaaaaaank Youuuuuuuuu.

Just so the entire night isn't a bust. Some of our team are going to play some random online games and would love for you to join up. If you see any of us online playing, drop us a line and request an invite!

We had so much fun playing Gears of War and Uno on Monday that we decided we're not going to wait another six months before our next X3F LIVE event. On Monday, June 16, we're handpicking two other titles from last week's poll and choo-choo-choosing it for another round of X3F LIVE madness.

Prepare yourself for another onslaught of gaming with the team at X3F (if you so choose) where we'll partake in a little Bomberman Live from 9:30 - 10:30PM EST and then retire to Team Fortress 2 from 10:30 - 11:30PM EST.

The votes are in and a recount isn't necessary. Gears of War swept up the competition claiming the top spot for tonight's gaming session; with Uno leading the charge for Xbox Live Arcade. Originally we were going to have a dedicated Gears of War marathon tonight but the rest of the team has fond memories of Uno and decided to throw it in hour numero one (you thought I was going to day Uno didn't you?).

It's been a busy few days around X3F Towers so we need to get some quality gaming time in! In lieu of a Community Content post (no ComCon today folks, sorry) we're having a poll to decide which game we're going to play for our next X3F LIVE event.

The event is scheduled for 9:30-11:30PM EST on Monday, June 9.

Since our previous two events were centered around Halo 3 and GTAIV we're omitting those two picks from the list. Let's try something new this week! Don't worry thought, we're planning on having another one real soon!

Now, before you read the choices. Not every hot title is on it, we're skipping some key titles based on what the staff has kicking around in their collection. So, no Call of Duty 4 or PGR4. But, maybe next time!

We're thirty minutes from another, but not frequent enough, gaming session with our awesome community. A few people have mentioned problems adding the X3FLIVE gamertag to their friends list so we've come up with an idea to fix that issue.

At around 8:45PM tonight we're going to go through our X3FLIVE friends list and drop a handful of people who aren't online. If you'd like to join us just fire up your Xbox to stay on the list and for those of you who are getting request bounce backs will be able to add us.

We're going to go through our list and play with a handful of people and then end the session and play with others. We'll send out the invites, so if you're interested in playing make sure to be in GTAIV (that way we know not to disturb a Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 session). If you don't get an invite right away join up with other people on our Friends of Friends list and we'll try to get to you.

We know this isn't the best system, but its the fairest way around the 100 friend limit on Xbox Live.

We're going to do sessions of Cops vs. Crooks with Auto-Aim disabled, so bring your 'A' game--cuz we sure as hell won't! We look forward to stealing your car and running you over with it later tonight!

Update 2: Our community friends list is currently full. Tonight at 8:45PM EST we will be deleting some people who aren't online to make room for any last minute people who would like to add us and get into the game.

Update: Our community gamertag, X3FLIVE, has been cleared of all friends and are now accepting requests for the event beginning at 9PM EST. If you've had issues adding us in the past it should be all cleared up now. In order to play with as many people as we can, who are interested that is, we're alternating players between rounds. We like to be fair! We look forward to shooting you in the face.

On Friday evening X3F LIVE made it's triumphant return with an hour long romp in 2Fort, from last week's Community Content. While the initial match of multi-flag went horribly wrong due to my inability to set a time limit, Xbox Live's wonky server issues and the horde of X3F readers attempting to get into the 16-player game, the event ended nicely with four solid rounds of single-flag.

We'd like to thank everyone who participated in the event and promise you won't have to wait long for another X3F LIVE evening.

Simply add the gamertag X3FLIVE to your Xbox 360 Friends List and you'll be able to see when other X3F readers are online using the "Friends of Friends" feature! Now, coordinate gaming sessions with your fellow X3F Army recruits any time you go online!

We'll open the game at 8PM EST and the first readers to join will be able to play a few rounds, and then we'll cycle a new game for a new batch of readers. That is if anyone can make it to our very short notice session at all!

I've put it off for way too long, I've procrastinated a bit too much, but tonight I'm going for it. With your help of course. Tonight at 9:30PM eastern (6:30PM pacific) I hope you'll join me as I make my way onto Xbox Live, play some Rumble Pit Halo 3 and finally try and earn my final Halo 3 achievement ... Maybe Next Time Buddy.

I'll need a few dedicated fanboys to join me in my adventure as we'll veto our way through Rumble Pit in an effort to get a vehicle equipped multiplayer map to appear (I believe Snowbound is the only option). It'll be rough as one cannot be sure when the correct map will appear, but we'll be diligent in our quest for Maybe Next Time Buddy glory. Shoot me a friend request (SuperDunners) and hop into my Halo 3 party tonight at 9:30PM eastern when this Maybe Next Time Buddy edition of X3F Live goes down.

Also, due to there being only one of me and only seven five other slots in the Rumble Pit party, we could possibly setup other Maybe Next Time Buddy achievement parties. If you're interested in hosting a Rumble Pit match whose goal is to earn this coveted Halo 3 achievement, simply comment below with your Gamertag, what time you'll be hosting and I'll update this post with the information. We'll make this the biggest, baddest and most successful Maybe Next Time Buddy achievement unlocking night EVAR! W00t!

Listen up kids, because in less than one hour we and all the cool kids will be heading online to play Halo 3 as part of our very special Xbox Live birthday edition of X3F Live. If you're not too busy and can find room to schedule us in, make your way onto Xbox Live tonight at 7:30PM eastern to join Richard (SenseiRAM), Dustin (SuperDunners) and David (Knuckles Dawson) for some FPS fun and cake*. We promise to play nice and make lots of corny "wort, wort, wort" jokes. Tonight, 7:30PM eastern ... be there.

*We don't actually have cake, because Richard forgot to bake one.

It's that time everyone, the fifth birthday of our most beloved gaming service. We're talking about Xbox Live, of course. Don't forget that their are festivities galore planned today. There's Game with Fame events, free Carcassonne (like a gift bag, but geekier), free MS Points for the brave individuals that subscribed way back in 2002, and more. For a full recap on everything that's happening, check out the roundup we posted earlier this week. We're jumping onto the Xbox Live birthday bandwagon by doing our own online celebration, with you, the X3F community. Because really, there's no better way to celebrate Xbox Live's birthday than gaming with everyone here at X3F. So it was agreed upon, word handed down and plans made ... welcome to the second ever X3F Live.

You're cordially invited to the Xbox Live birthday edition of X3F Live which will be taking place tomorrow, November 15th at 7:30PM eastern on Halo 3. Your favorite bloggers Richard (SenseiRAM), Dustin (SuperDunners) and David (Knuckles Dawson) will all be online and ready to dish out the Spartan (or Elite) pain for a few hours. Well, most of us anyway. Richard is a very busy man and may have to duck out a bit early. Something about a multi-million dollar real estate deal ... whatever. We've mentioned the idea of setting up a gaming night numerous times on our Fancast and even promised that we'd do something soon. But, sadly, we've haven't lived up to our word and nothing has been organized. So, tonight on a mission to right our wrongs. It's with great pleasure that we here at X3F announce one of our first organized gaming nights that we're calling X3F Live and we're kicking off the festivities with some Halo 3 custom game fun.

If you're available this evening, log onto Xbox Live at 6:30PM eastern (3:30PM pacific) and look for Richard (SenseiRAM), Dustin (SuperDunners) and David (Knuckles Dawson) on Halo 3 and join in on the fragging fun. We're not sure how long everyone will be able to stay online, but we should be able to get in an hour or two of game time and we can 100% guarantee that there will plenty of fun, fanboys and madness ... with free refills to boot!
