If next week's blitz of Tom Clancy-brand discounts on Xbox Live doesn't eat up your remaining Microsoft Pellets, you'd be wise to invest some in <em>Pac-Man CE DX</em> the following week, when it's on sale for $5. The only thrill greater than being chased by a ghost train is turning around and <em>eating it!</em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/17/upcoming-xbox-live-sales-to-feature-half-price-pac-man-dx-disco/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Upcoming Xbox Live sales to feature half-price Pac-Man DX, discounted Clancy content</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/17/upcoming-xbox-live-sales-to-feature-half-price-pac-man-dx-disco/">Upcoming Xbox Live sales to feature half-price Pac-Man DX, discounted Clancy content</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Feb 2011 15:30:00 EST. When the sun set on the Xbox Live service for original Xbox games on April 15, some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-2"><em>Halo 2</em></a> players decided they just didn't want to let go. So they've been in-game and have left their consoles running past <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/05/xbox-live-service-for-xbox-1-games-to-be-discontinued-on-apr-15/">the designated April 15 shutdown</a>, staying in <em>Halo 2</em> for almost two weeks now. They're going to <em>flip</em> when they see their electric bills!<br />
<br />
This <a href="http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=43235214&amp;postRepeater1-p=1">thread</a> over on the Bungie forums lists the numerous individuals still online in <em>Halo 2</em>, the last few people able to play the game online <em>ever</em>. Determined not to abandon it until they're forcibly removed by Bungie or Microsoft (or their consoles blow up, which is a <em>very</em> <em>real</em> <em>possibility</em>), you can clearly see each individual's commitment via their profile page on Xbox.com:

This week's Xbox Live <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deal-of-the-week">Deal of the Week</a> finds a few Xbox Originals at a 33 percent discount (sounds so much more substantial that way). As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/xbox-live-marketplace-release-schedule-for-march-revealed/">previously noted</a>, the promotion includes the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable"><em>Fable</em></a> for 800<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10), along with <em>Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne</em> and <em>Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas</em> at the same $5 discount.<br />
<br />
Before you impulse buy, make sure you aren't interested in next week's Deal of the Week, which finds all of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fallout-3"><em>Fallout 3</em></a>'s DLC (<em>Operation: Anchorage</em>, <em>The Pitt</em>, <em>Broken Steel</em>, <em>Point Lookout</em> and <em>Mothership Zeta</em>) at 400<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($5) apiece. <em>Broken Steel</em> is a must-have for the level cap increase, but all the packs help deepen the already epic game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/15/reminder-fable-other-xbox-originals-are-deal-of-the-week/">PSA: Fable, other Xbox Originals are 'Deal of the Week'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Mar 2010 12:15:00 EST. <a linkindex="43" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/05/xbox-live-service-for-xbox-1-games-to-be-discontinued-on-apr-15/">Plans to disconnect</a> Xbox Live services for original Xbox games have apparently already begun, as DLC servers for Xbox titles have been quietly taken offline. According to <a linkindex="44" href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=386865&amp;page=4">numerous</a> <a linkindex="45" href="http://boards.ign.com/xbox_360_general_board/b8266/189208658/p1/">forum</a> threads and our own tests of an assortment of Xbox titles, attempts to download original Xbox game content are now fruitless. Each title tested yielded the message: "Could not download content list. Please try again later." (The image above was taken from our test of <em>Halo 2</em>.)<br />
<br />
Last Friday, Microsoft announced online support for original Xbox titles would be discontinued on April 15, but made no mention of disconnecting DLC servers earlier than that. Some <a linkindex="46" href="http://www.highdefforum.com/gaming-systems/108404-all-original-xbox-dlc-already-offline-microsoft-really-showing-its-class-2.html">forum</a> users claim that the DLC servers for Xbox titles were taken offline as soon as the announcement was made last week. So, if you've continued to put off your infiltration of the <a linkindex="47" href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/t/tomclancysplintercell/ContentDL-SplinterCell-Kola.htm">Kola Cell</a> in the original <em>Splinter Cell</em>, you'd better have already downloaded the mission.<br />
<br />

Microsoft is pulling the plug on the Xbox Live services that still cater to the original Xbox. As of April 15th, all Xbox 1 games -- including those playable on Xbox 360 or via the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> service -- will be severed from the online realm. "I want to start by saying this isn't a decision we made lightly," Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten said at the start of <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2010/02/05/gh789.aspx">a letter to Xbox Live members</a>, "but after careful consideration, it is clear that this will provide the greatest benefit to the Xbox Live community." <br />
<br />
Whitten added that in continuing to "evolve the service," Microsoft requires changes that are "incompatible" with the previous console's games. "We will contact the Xbox LIVE members directly impacted by this change and if this includes you, I encourage you to check your LIVE messages and associated e-mail account over the coming weeks for more details and opportunities."<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/02/03/live-activity-for-week-of-jan-25th.aspx">Major Nelson</a>'s most recent list of top Xbox 1 Live titles, <em>Star Wars: Battlefront 2</em> and <em>Counter-Strike</em> players will be hardest hit. Well, sure, <em>Halo 2</em> is still the most widely played game, but at least those guys will have some consolation when they leave the house and discover that <strike><em>two</em></strike> <em>three</em> more <em>Halo</em> games have come out since 2004. <br />
<br />

It appears the "Games on Demand" section has replaced "Xbox Originals" on Xbox.com marketplace. We're not exactly sure if this is a rebranding of Xbox Originals, but the title of the section would imply that all downloadable games -- which will include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/full-xbox-360-game-downloads-arriving-in-august/">Xbox 360 titles in August</a> -- will reside in this section. However, if you click on the "Xbox 360 Games" on the left navigation bar, there's a clearly marked "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/fullgamedownloadsection.jpg">Full Game</a>" download section, which is currently empty. Also, Xbox Live Arcade titles have a separate section as well.<br /><br />Perhaps the downloadable Xbox 360 games will reside in two locations on Xbox.com? We've contacted Microsoft for clarification and we'll update as soon as we hear back.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: We're aware the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> program has come to an end, we're just caught off guard by the lack of an official statement accompanying the change on Xbox.com (especially with no change on the 360 itself).<br /><br />[Thanks, Nathan]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/games-on-demand-section-arrives-on-xbox-com/">'Games on Demand' section arrives on Xbox.com</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Jun 2009 10:55:00 EST. With <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/max-payne-3">Max Payne 3</a></em> announced, Take-Two's marketing machine better get moving -- we've noirly forgotten the whole seedy epic of insane mobsters and one glorious femme fatale. <em>Max Payne</em> and <em>Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne</em> are both available now on Xbox Live Marketplace for 1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15) apiece -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/24/max-payne-sequel-appear-disappear-as-xbox-originals/">we're sure, this time</a>.<br />
<br />
Admittedly, the Xbox price is a bit steep and both games (arguably) play better on PC, so it might be better to wait until Steam has one of its weekend sales to pick up the titles for something like $5 (currently the games are <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=max+payne">$15 as a bundle</a> on Valve's digital distribution service). But, if Xbox is your only option, feel free to pick up Max, dearest of all our friends.<br />

Like the world's most somber noir ninjas, <em>Max Payne </em>and <em>Max Payne 2</em> briefly appeared as Xbox Originals before disappearing and leaving no evidence. ... No evidence, that is, except the screen grab we managed to snap before the games' untimely departure from <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/m/maxpayne2/0424-payneoriginal.htm">this (now non-working) link</a>.<br />

With a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/max-payne-3-coming-to-xbox-360-ps3-pc-this-winter/">sequel in the works</a> and <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/03/29/max-payne-and-sequel-get-xbox-360-listings-from-esrb/">an ESRB reveal</a>, Max's appearance makes perfect sense, we're just assuming someone jumped the gun with the announcement. Before Max Payne turned into a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/max-payne-3">homeless-looking Vin Diesel</a> (pictured center, if you didn't guess) he was a "take no prisoner, nothing to lose" New York detective out for revenge. Now he looks like he takes no showers, <a href="http://www.instantrimshot.com">amirite</a>?<br /><br /><em>Max Payne</em> was a classic when it hit the PC and, although a lot was left to be desired when it was thrown onto consoles, the <em>Max Payne</em> series shined on the original Xbox among third-person shooters. Searching the original titles on the ESRB website revealed both titles had been rated for the Xbox 360 platform, a process that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/rumor-esrb-lists-more-xbox-originals/">ordinarily occurs </a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/xbox-originals-welcomes-guilty-gear-x2-reload-and-spyros-new-beg/">when a game is set to be released</a> as an Xbox Original. File this under: "Taken with a grain of salt," but it's possible Max's previous adventures will be added to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Xbox-originals">Xbox 360's digital list</a> ... just in time for his latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/max-payne-3-coming-to-xbox-360-ps3-pc-this-winter/">pill-popping journey this winter</a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/search.jsp?titleOrPublisher=max-payne&amp;searchType=title&amp;rating=&amp;ratingsCriteria=&amp;platforms=&amp;platformsCriteria=&amp;javaScript=0&amp;searchVersion=compact&amp;content=&amp;searchType=title&amp;contentCriteria=&amp;newSearch.x=31&amp;newSearch">ESRB</a> -- <em>Max Payne</em><br /><a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/search.jsp?titleOrPublisher=max-payne-2-the-fall-of-max-payne&amp;searchType=title&amp;rating=&amp;ratingsCriteria=&amp;platforms=&amp;platformsCriteria=&amp;javaScript=0&amp;searchVersion=compact&amp;content=&amp;searchType=title&amp;contentCriteria=&amp;newSearch.x=31&amp;newSearch">ESRB</a> -- <em>Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/29/max-payne-and-sequel-get-xbox-360-listings-from-esrb/">'Max Payne' &amp; sequel get Xbox 360 listings from ESRB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Mar 2009 13:30:00 EST. Before Peter Molyneux and Co. captured our GOTY hearts with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fable-2">Fable II</a></em>, Lionhead introduced the world to Albion in <em>Fable</em> -- on the original Xbox. Next week -- billed as the <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2009/03/13/562938.aspx">figurative pot of gold</a> for St. Paddy's Day -- the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Xbox-Originals/">Xbox Originals</a> release of <em>Fable</em> will be discounted to 800<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($10) on March 16, down one third the standard (Read: Overpriced) tag of 1200<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" />.<br /> <br /> March 23's Deal of the Week isn't nearly exciting, discounting the<em> Iowa Mission Pack</em> for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Battlestations-Midway/">Battlestations Midway</a></em> by 20%. Finally, to put an Irish kiss on the end of the month, the Deal of the Week beginning March 30 will be the XBLA title <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Alien-Hominod">Alien </a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Alien-Hominid">Hominid</a></em><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Alien-Hominod"> HD</a></em>, discounted by 50% to 400<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($5). Word comes by way of <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2009/01/14/562699.aspx">Gamerscore Blog</a> that <em>BlowOut</em> will join the ranks of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals/">Xbox Originals</a>, as of January 19th, for 1200<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($15). Reaction to the news was swift and sure in the site's comments section, with gems like: <br />
<div class="commentsbody">
<ul>
    <li>"F*ck off with the sh*t we've never heard of. Get some half decent games on there already."</li>
    <li>"When the f*ck did this come out. How about <em>KOTOR</em> either of them, or any other of the top selling title from the original Xbox. What is Microsoft paying you people for."</li>
    <li>"Ugh, I wish I could remember the right command. &gt; kill proc PR_Bot." 	</li>
</ul>
Uh-huh, that just about sums it up. Seriously, how many people actually remember this game, or would pay $15 for it? If there was ever any question about the Xbox Originals system <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/xblm-adding-new-xbox-originals-on-dec-15/">being</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/zapper-coming-to-xbox-originals-why-are-you-laughing/">misguided</a> over the last few updates, we fear the answer is quite clear now.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/your-guess-as-good-as-ours-blowout-coming-to-xbox-originals/">Your guess as good as ours: BlowOut coming to Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 15:26:00 EST. If you happened to catch a recent <a href="http://twitter.com/majornelson/status/1118711498">Twitter update</a> from Major Nelson, you may have already discovered that <em>BlowOut</em> is the next title headed to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a>. Supposing this is the first you've heard of it -- Gamerscore Blog just <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2009/01/14/562699.aspx">made it official</a> -- we imagine your reaction is much the same as ours was. That is to say a reaction of complete puzzlement. It's not that we think <em>BlowOut</em> is a poor choice for Xbox Originals (an accusation we could level at many previous choices). No, it's that we have <em>no idea</em> what <em>BlowOut</em> is. We canvassed our coworkers and no one remembers <em>BlowOut</em>. At all.<br /><br />Thankfully, it appears the game's <a href="http://www.blowoutgame.com/index.htm">official website</a> is still active and we think it tells you everything you need to know. It's a side scroller. You shoot things. A lot. Oh, and the tagline is <em>priceless</em>. It concerns the game's main character, a space marine nicknamed Dutch. Ahem: "Mess with Dutch, don't live much!!!" (Note the triple exclamation points. Very important.) <br /><br /><em>BlowOut</em> will hit Marketplace on January 19th for 1200 Microsoft Points.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/blowout-headed-to-xbox-originals-wait-what/">Blowout headed to Xbox Originals (wait, what?)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 15:15:00 EST. <div align="left">Microsoft just revealed that both <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/soccerslam/details.page/"><em>Sega Soccer Slam</em></a> and <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/r/razeshell/details.page/"><em>Raze's Hell</em></a> will be coming to an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> near you next Monday, December 15th. And, as is the norm, both games will take up some hard drive giggage and cost you 1200 Microsoft points.<br /></div>

<br />For the un-edjumacted, Sega's <em>Sega Soccer Slam</em> was a 2002 Xbox release that, pretty much, is over the top soccer with whacked out characters. Atari and Artech Studios' <em>Raze's Hell </em>is an action adventure where you play Raze and embark on a journey to "vanquish the twisted princess and her invading force of Kewletts by any means necessary." God bless Xbox Originals.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/upcoming-xbox-originals-razes-hell-and-sega-soccer-slam/">Upcoming Xbox Originals: Raze's Hell and Sega Soccer Slam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 14:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Ah, Xbox Originals. Striving to bring you the finest specimens of the original Xbox's back catalog as full downloads for 360. Or, as it turns out, a seemingly random assortment of games that aren't exactly classics.<br /><br />Next Monday, December 15, this league of extraordinarily inconsistent games welcomes two new members: <em><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/soccerslam/details.page/">Sega Soccer Slam</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/r/razeshell/details.page/"><em>Raze's Hell</em></a>. The arcade-style soccer game by Visual Concepts (now 2K Sports) and Artech Studios' darkly humorous action game can be yours for 1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15) each. <div align="left">As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/finally-zapper-heads-to-xbox-originals/">promised</a>, the classic and wicked cricket <em><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/z/zapper/default-originals.htm">Zapper</a> </em>has made its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace as a 1200 Microsoft point Xbox Original title. Blitz Games' 599MB <em>Zapper</em> includes eighteen levels spread across four worlds with one final boss that's oh so intimidatingly named Maggie. Exciting stuff.<br /><br />Warning to those who love themselves scrolling credits, because <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/finally-zapper-heads-to-xbox-originals/">Microsoft warns</a> that the Xbox Originals version of <em>Zapper </em>suffers from "minor graphical corruption occurs in the End Credits" which "causes some of the end credits to appear cut off." End credits being cut off? Seriously, what has the world come to?<br /></div>

We know, we know. It's kind of hard to keep reading this when you know that <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2008/11/13/562352.aspx"><em>Zapper</em> is headed to Xbox Originals</a>. Stay with us though, because the game isn't actually available yet, so you can't run off to download it anyway. No, the game won't actually be available on the service until November 17, at which point we imagine all of the world's social interaction and commerce will cease -- apart from the massive influx of MS Point purchases -- throwing the global economy into a tailspin. Deliveries will stop, utilities will shut down, but no one will care. We'll all be mesmerized by the awesomeness that is <em>Zapper</em>, and we will play until the electricity fails. As Zapper constantly prods the pleasure nodes in our brains, we will slowly, blissfully succumb to starvation.<br /><br />Either that or <em>Zapper</em>'s release will slip by completely unnoticed, one of the two.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/zapper-coming-to-xbox-originals-why-are-you-laughing/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/finally-zapper-heads-to-xbox-originals/">Finally, Zapper heads to Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 12:00:00 EST. You know that song, "Live Like You Were Dying?" You know what near-death activity you <em>won't</em> find in there between "Rocky Mountain climbin'" and going "2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu?" "Turning forgettable <em>Frogger 2 </em>rip-off <em>Zapper</em> into an Xbox Original." Likewise, "playing <em>Zapper</em>" or "ever thinking about <em>Zapper</em>" are also conspicuously absent. In fact, we'd wager that you could gather the bucket lists of every member of humanity and never see <em>Zapper </em>mentioned once.<br /><br />This is why we should have been consulted before a single member of humanity was tasked with spending one nanosecond of their time turning <em>Zapper</em> into a 1200-point Xbox Original. Then we could have advised them that they'd be better off wadding all that time into a big chrono-ball, putting it in a rocket and <em>shooting it into the sun</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/zapper-coming-to-xbox-originals-why-are-you-laughing/">Zapper coming to Xbox Originals, why are you laughing?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 09:45:00 EST. You may think you're a big tough guy in Liberty City, but you don't know nothing about the <em>streets</em>. On the <em>streets</em> of San Andreas, danger's around every corner, you spend a surprising amount of time on bicycles and you can get fat in like <em>an hour</em> ... like <em>really </em>fat. It's no joke in the SA, it's for real.<br /><br />If you think that, unlike b****es, you can hang with the streets, you have your shot: <em>Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas</em> is now an Xbox Original, available for 1200 MS Points ($15). <div align="left">It's high time for some real talk about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a>. Specifically, who's choosing what makes the cut? Not that <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/d/destroyallhumans/default.htm"><em>Destroy all Humans!</em></a> or <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/i/intellivisionlives/default.htm"><em>Intellivision Lives!</em></a> are bad games by any means. It's just that, when you think of a service that could be offering the best, exclusive games from a system's previous generation on the current one via the interwebs, you'd hope they'd be more ... original and <em>memorable</em>.<br />
<br />
As it stands, we're getting a complete mish-mash of revered <em>and</em> forgettable moments from the annuls of the original Xbox. How about some <em>Panzer Dragoon Orta</em> or <em>Star Wars: Republic Commando</em> before the likes of <em>Kabuki Warriors</em>? Ahem. Ranting aside, both <em>Destroy All Humans!</em> and <em>Intellivision Lives!</em> hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 15 for 1200<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15) each. We'd love to hear which Xbox games <em>you </em>would have join the ranks of the Xbox Originals in comments.</div>

Exclamation point!</div>

<br />
As is customary with all Xbox Originals, both titles will release to the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1200 Microsoft points apiece and require some hard drive gigage. For those who aren't familiar with either title, <em>Intellivision Lives!</em> is a collection of over 60 old-old-school Intellivision games while Pandemic's <em>Destroy All Humans! </em>is all about doing alien related activities like probing humans and flying around the city in a UFO wreaking havoc. We've always thought that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Jade%20Empire">Jade Empire</a></em> gets a bad rap, perhaps in part because it came from BioWare, a house normally known for its sterling quality. After all, it's got a decent story, sort of decent combat, and roster of characters that walks the line between stereotypical and racist. ... Come to think of it, it's not really their best effort, is it? Luckily, you don't have to take our word for it: The game is now available for $15 as an Xbox Original.<br /><br />We were going to heartily recommend it, but now, after having a bit of a think, we're not so sure. Let's open it up to our loyal commenters: Is <em>Jade Empire</em> worth the cash and time?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/21/jade-empire-now-officially-an-xbox-original/">X3F</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/jade-empire-now-an-xbox-original/">Jade Empire now an Xbox Original</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 14:50:00 EST. Team Originals is about to get another member added to the roster, according to the <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/07/16/559780.aspx">Gamescore Blog</a>. On July 21, <em>Jade Empire</em> will be added to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Xbox-Originals/">Xbox Originals</a> -- the downloadable portal for Xbox titles on the Live Marketplace. BioWare's role-player adventure of martial arts and mystical powers will run gamers the standard 1200MS points. The version made available is the standard edition of the game as the limited edition has had issues with Xbox backwards compatibility in the past. Oh, and before you ask, yes there are dialog trees in the game. We are talking about a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BioWare/">BioWare</a> game, remember? Sorry, no blue aliens.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/jade-empire-joins-xbox-o-team/">Jade Empire joins Xbox 'O' team</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Jul 2008 09:30:00 EST. Celebratory vanilla cake and party poppers for all! And this week's Xbox Originals are none other than Arc System Works' <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/g/guiltygearx2reload/"><em>Guilty Gear X2 #Reloaded</em></a> and Krome Studios' <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/l/legendofspyronewbeginning/"><em>The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning</em></a>. Each will cost you 1200 Microsoft points and some hard drive gigage, but also a cautionary note. Those who decide to jump into the Xbox Originals mix, be on the look out for "some minor irregularities with audio/video for brief periods" while playing. As usual with all Xbox Originals, each title will set virtual wallets back 1200 MS space-bucks and offer the same interactivity as the original retail release.<br /><br /><em>Guilty Gear X2 #Reload</em>, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/rumor-esrb-lists-more-xbox-originals/">we reported would see life as an Xbox Original</a> in February, was a critically acclaimed fighting title when it hit retail and includes full Xbox Live support. Fighting game fans should take note as <em>GGX2#R</em> is one of the better titles the genre saw last generation. <em>The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning</em> is a <em>Spyro </em>game. So, make of that what you will. As always we recommend poking around your local game stores and compare prices if either title is something you'd like to add to your gaming collection.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/xbox-originals-welcomes-guilty-gear-x2-reload-and-spyros-new-beg/">Xbox Originals welcomes Guilty Gear X2 #Reload &amp; Spyro's New Beginning</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 14:15:00 EST. We'd love to meet the person who's choosing what games to re-release as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Xbox-Originals/">Xbox Originals</a>. Because, to be perfectly honest, we just don't get how they're deciding which games will get the treatment and in what order. Take, for example, this new coupling, arriving on your 360 on June 16:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em><strong>Guilty Gear XX #Reload</strong></em> (1200 Microsoft Points, WW except Europe): "Guilty Gear X2 #Reload makes its Xbox(R) debut, and, for the first-time ever, introduces online play with head-to-head Xbox Live[TM] support! Play over 20 different combatants and hidden characters, and devastate your opponents with an arsenal of eye-popping, jaw-dropping moves and combos-it's good to beat each other!"</li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><em><strong>The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning</strong></em> (1200 Microsoft Points, WW except Germany, Japan, and Korea): "Explore the origins of the one and only powerful purple dragon in The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. Uncover Spyro's secret history as you embark on a dangerous quest to face off against the ultimate creation of the Dark Master, Cynder."</li>
</ul>
Really guys? <em>Spyro </em>and <em>Guilty Gear</em>? We've only got two questions -- well, no, we have dozens, but here are the two we're dying to ask: Just how big does a dartboard have to be to fit all the Xbox games on it? And which blindfolded intern is chucking the darts?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/spyro-guilty-gear-coming-to-xbox-originals/">Spyro, Guilty Gear coming to Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 13:00:00 EST. This time we get <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/stubbsthezombieinrebelwithoutapulse/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Stubbs the Zombie</span></a> and <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/g/gauntletsevensorrows/">G<span style="font-style: italic;">auntlet: Seven Sorrows</span></a>. <span style="font-style: italic;">Stubbs</span> was created by Wideload, the studio behind the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hail-to-the-chimp"><span style="font-style: italic;">Hail to the Chimp</span></a>. Those who fancy playing the role of a zombie (as opposed to ruthlessly slaughtering them) should definitely take note. <span style="font-style: italic;">Seven Sorrows</span> successfully managed to fall off the radar, probably thanks to the fact that it launched in December of 2005. You may recall a certain console that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/11/22/its-here/">launched a month prior</a>. While it may have been overlooked, <span style="font-style: italic;">Seven Sorrows</span> is unique in the <span style="font-style: italic;">Gauntlet </span>series as it was originally developed by industry vet John Romero (best known for the awesome <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/doom"><span style="font-style: italic;">Doom</span></a> series or the awful <span style="font-style: italic;">Daikatana</span>, depending on your point of view). He left the project (and Midway) just months prior to completion.<br /><br />Of the two 1200 MS Point ($15) titles, <span style="font-style: italic;">Stubbs</span> seems to be the better value, as Amazon has the retail version's used price pegged at around <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Stubbs-Zombie-Rebel-Without-Pulse/dp/B000BC1UZ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1211205731&amp;sr=1-1">$25</a>, whereas <span style="font-style: italic;">Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows</span> hovers right around the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0009R1SZA/ref=dp_olp_3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1211206023&amp;sr=1-2">$17</a> dollar mark with shipping.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/stubbs-and-gauntlet-now-on-xbox-originals/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stubbs and Gauntlet now on Xbox Originals</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/stubbs-and-gauntlet-now-on-xbox-originals/">Stubbs and Gauntlet now on Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 May 2008 11:45:00 EST. Microsoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> collection on Xbox Live continues to slowly grow, with <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/05/14/xbox-orignals-stubbs-the-zombie-and-gauntlet-seven-sorrows.aspx">two new titles to add to the list</a> next week: <em>Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse</em>, and <em>Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows</em>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/10/21/metareview-stubbs-the-zombie/"><em>Stubbs the Zombie</em></a> is an under-appreciated 2005 release from Wideload Games, featuring a satirical film-noir approach to the zombie genre. <em>Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows</em> is, well, another <em>Gauntlet</em> game, this time handled by veteran <em>Doom </em>designer John Romero. Reviews for <em>Gauntlet</em> were, at best, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/14/metareview-gauntlet-seven-sorrows-xbox/">a mixed bag</a>, so <em>Stubbs</em> looks to be the cream of the crop in this Originals installment. Both titles are due for release Monday, May 19 for 1200 MSP each.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/14/stubbs-the-zombie-and-gauntlet-coming-soon-to-xbox-originals/">Stubbs the Zombie and Gauntlet coming soon to Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 May 2008 15:45:00 EST. Yuppers ...<br /><br />As always, each title will cost 1200 Microsoft points, have no achievements and play exactly as it did on the original Xbox plus any quirks that are introduced thanks to the 360's emulation. But we're going to be optimistic this time and be excited about these new Xbox Originals, because we've been told that we've been too negative in the past when talking about these oh so grand downloads. So, as we smile from ear to ear, enjoy next Monday's entertaining, convenient and affordable <em>Stubbs </em>and <em>Gauntlet </em>Xbox Originals downloads that are sure to put a smile on <em>any</em> fanboys' face. Insert awkwardly large fake smile here.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/14/stubbs-and-gauntlet-to-become-xbox-originals/">Stubbs and Gauntlet to become Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 May 2008 14:30:00 EST. We know you're keen to see what super spy Sam Fisher was up to before he started <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/18/sam-fisher-shows-his-softer-side/">digging Linkin Park CDs into his wrists</a>, so we wholeheartedly suggest you check out what many consider to be his best espionage entry, <em>Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory</em>. And if you absolutely can't find it on Xbox for less than 15 bucks, know that it's now available on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> download service.<br />
<br />
If you'd rather not choke terrorists or contemplate why <em>nobody</em> can see a man with a Christmas tree on his head, <em>Metal Arms: Glitch in the System </em>should provide your "shoot first, shoot some more and then forget what you were going to ask" fix. Other fixes include (but are not limited to) "robots," "gun-toting robots" and "gun-toting robots shooting gun-toting robots." It's $15 (1,200 MS Points) for this one too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/splinter-cell-chaos-theory-metal-arms-now-available-on-xbox-or/">Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Metal Arms now available on Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Apr 2008 21:30:00 EST. Major Nelson <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/04/15/coming-to-xbox-originals-spliter-cell-ct-and-metal-arms.aspx">informs</a> that secret agent Sam Fisher and some robots have been discovered covertly trying to sneak onto the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> lineup. <em>Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory</em> and <em>Metal Arms: Glitch in the System</em> will be available for 1200 MS points ($15) a piece beginning next Monday (except in Korea and Japan).<br />

As usual, it behooves us to mention that unless it's 3AM and you've got the hankering for an Xbox Originals game, it's probably best to take a look around the intertubes (or a <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&amp;Ntk=TitleKeyword&amp;Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&amp;Ntt=splinter%20cell%20chaos%20theory">favorite gaming pawnshop</a>) for a better deal.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/splinter-cell-chaos-theory-metal-arms-join-xbox-originals-li/">Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Metal Arms join Xbox Originals lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Apr 2008 22:00:00 EST. On Monday, April 21st, both Ubisoft's <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/splintercellchaostheory/"><em>Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory</em></a> and <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/m/metalarms/"><em>Metal Arms: Glitch In The System</em></a> will be available for purchase off the XBLM for the standard 1200 Microsoft point price. So ... yup, more Xbox Originals titles next week ... what more <strike>achievement complaining</strike> can be said?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/xbox-originals-to-add-splinter-cell-and-metal-arms/">Xbox Originals to add Splinter Cell and Metal Arms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Apr 2008 14:15:00 EST. The point? If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for?</em><br />
<p>This week's WUR was a user submitted question that really made us think, especially coming back from our local gaming store. At 1,200 MS points a pop, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> platform seems like a steep entry into the "classic" prev-gen titles. While many of the games can be found for a lot less than their digital counterpart, some of the recent additions are going to a premium price if they can be found. What we hear from the community is that the pricing structure of the XBO program is out of <em>wack</em> for the most part.</p>
<p>This week we want you to forget about the price in the equation and consider the content only. How important is physical media to you in the wake of the increasingly digital age? Do you prefer to stack your games to line your room like a protective castle wall, or are you fed up with hard copies of the game and wish you could get everything digitally? Let's pretend we're made of money this week, if only for a moment, and ask yourself when it comes to those Xbox Originals...</p>

Funcom's <em>Dreamfall </em>will join the other half dozen or so titles that are available on the Marketplace all costing a hefty 1200 Microsoft points and a solid chunk of your 360's hard drive.
