Remember when you were a kid and used to play cops and robbers? Sometimes you'd smuggle a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=nintendo+zapper&amp;invocationType=wl-joystiq">Zapper</a> out of your house, just to add that extra layer of believability to the whole thing. According to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/thewarpzone">The Warp Zone</a>, the Zapper is much deadlier than you believed!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/real-life-duck-hunt-video-documents-dangers-of-improper-zapper-u/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Real-life Duck Hunt video documents dangers of improper Zapper use</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/real-life-duck-hunt-video-documents-dangers-of-improper-zapper-u/">Real-life Duck Hunt video documents dangers of improper Zapper use</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Mar 2011 00:00:00 EST. Was it something <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/nintendo-wins-appeal-in-anascape-suit/">we said</a>? No sooner does Nintendo close the book on the two-year-old <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/nintendo-wins-appeal-in-anascape-suit/">Anascape suit</a> than does the prolific peripheral manufacturer get slapped with another legal challenge. <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/28080/Nintendo_Sued_By_Interactive_Exercise_Company.php?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+GamasutraNews+%28Gamasutra+News%29">Gamasutra</a> has obtained documentation of a lawsuit filed against Nintendo, on April 2, by exergaming company InterAction Laboratories, a.k.a. IA Labs, a.k.a. Powergrid Fitness, for alleged patent infringement.<br />
<br />
In typical dramatic legalese, the suit cries out that IA Labs has been "irreparably harmed" by Nintendo's violation of two of its patents through a long list of Wii products. Here goes: the Wii system itself and its primary controllers, the Wiimote and the Nunchuk, and the MotionPlus add-on; <em>Wii Fit,</em> its expansion pack, <em>Wii Fit Plus,</em> and its peripheral, the Balance Board; and the Wii Zapper. <em>Phew!</em> Are we forgetting anything?<br />
<br />
Oh, yes -- the Wii Wheel. Uh-huh, that <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/reinventing-the-wii-wheel/"><em>circular piece of plastic</em></a> is allegedly infringing upon a patent for either (1) "Computer interactive isometric exercise system and method for operatively interconnecting the exercise system to a computer system for use as a peripheral" or (2) "Force measurement system for an isometric exercise device." IA Labs claims that these two patents are used in a number of its products, including the Kilowatt Sport and Exer-Station controller. Both have won an award at separate CES events.<br />
<br />
If you're real up on your Wii peripheral pitches, you will recall the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/wii-sqweeze-is-like-a-thighmaster-for-your-hands/">Sqweeze</a>, a ThighMaster-esque device for your hands, developed by IA Labs and introduced in late 2008. While a PC version appears to be <a href="http://www.sqweeze.com/">available</a>, the Wii iteration never made it to market, perhaps evidence that the relationship between IA Labs and Nintendo soured long ago. Documentation from the recent suit reveals emails from 2007-2008 between the two companies, which had once been in talks for IA Labs to license its technology to Nintendo.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/14/nintendo-sued-by-exergaming-company-ia-labs/">Nintendo sued by exergaming company IA Labs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Apr 2010 19:30:00 EST. It's also another excuse to get out the Wii Zapper.<br />
<br />
<em>Heavy Fire</em> features ground, Blackhawk, and Humvee-based combat, and weapon upgrades based on real equipment, awarded as players rise in military rank. And not only are the environments destructible, you get "additional points for smashing the environment." All right, maybe it's not <em>that</em> realistic. Teyon has yet to announce a price or date for <em>Heavy Fire</em>.<br />

Aside from efforts like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> and <i>Call of Duty: World at War</i>, Nintendo's Wii hasn't exactly enjoyed a glut of capable FPS titles. According to a recent interview with games[TM] (via <a href="http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2119/aonuma-wanted-to-make-crossbow-training-2">NowGamer</a>), <em>Zelda</em> director Eiji Aonuma recognizes this -- and sees great potential for fixing that problem in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/links-crossbow-training">Link's Crossbow Training</a></em>, the pack-in minigame included with the Wii Zapper. "To tell you the truth, I actually wanted to create <em>Link's Crossbow Training 2</em> ... I thought that we should do something more and better in the field of the first-person shooter." Wait, haven't we heard this <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/miyamoto-links-crossbow-training-is-fps-training/">before</a>? <br />
<br />
Unfortunately for Aonuma, the execs above him at Nintendo didn't think much of the idea, nixing it in favor of a completely new entry in the <em>Zelda</em> series. "I was thinking that maybe we could intensify the multiplayer mode ... [but] a lot of people inside Nintendo insisted that I should work on a new <em>Legend of Zelda</em> title." We're sorry about that, Mr. Aonuma! And to the Nintendo executives who killed a sequel to <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em>, we'd like to personally thank you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/26/nintendos-aonuma-pitched-links-crossbow-training-2/">Nintendo's Aonuma pitched Link's Crossbow Training 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 Dec 2009 19:00:00 EST. Aside from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@nintendo,@wii,rumor">multiple retailer listings</a> and today's alleged <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/rumor-internal-best-buy-memo-confirms-wii-price-cut-this-sunday/">internal Best Buy memo</a>, MCV <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/35882/New-UK-Wii-bundle-leaked">reports</a> that a "retail source" told it the UK won't be receiving the same price cut that North America and Japan are expected to receive. If it is true, at least UK Wii buyers will be getting a bit more for their pounds. But if its latest Wii product works well, it could have a new claim to (relative) fame.<br /><br />Penguin's CrossFire Remote Pistol is a Wii Zapper alternative that <em>doesn't</em> require a separate Wiimote. It's your basic third-party Wii gun shell, but in a nice silver/black theme with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/umbrella-chronicles"><em>Umbrella Chronicles</em></a> branding, and includes <em>Resident Evil</em>-style Wiimote and Nunchuk skins. <br /><br />The gun is available once again in <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/store/capcomus/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.120252600">Capcom's online store</a>, for $29.95. It's marketed to <em>those of us</em> who want to look <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293662/">Transporter</a>-</em>cool while playing <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em> ... oh, and to those of you who're simply tired of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/03/guns-dont-kill-people-terrible-peripherals-do/">white</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/09/its-like-a-zapper-only-its-a-blaster-and-it-sucks/">peripherals</a>.<br /><br />Per the item description, the Dark Ops gun allows for independent use of the Wii nunchuck, gives easy access to the Wiimote's face buttons, and sports a nifty Lock 'N Load feature that totally makes the remote look like a clip. For your gun. A gun clip. Like, totally. All that for <em>only </em>$19.95. We're guessing the light gun's accuracy is significantly increased if its wielder dons a tuxedo, maintains a calm (yet cool!) demeanor, and kills bad guys for a living.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=75285">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/11/dark-ops-wii-light-gun-its-the-wii-light-gun-jason-statham-wou/">Dark Ops Wii Light Gun: It's the Wii light gun Jason Statham would use</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Mar 2009 22:30:00 EST. No word yet on the US. The Aussie version even (optionally) comes packaged with two of the things!<br /><br />We can't imagine it <em>would</em> make a difference, but if you're on the fence about <em>Overkill</em>, would the availability of an officially licensed, quite cool-looking accessory push you over the edge? Conversely, does the <em>lack</em> of such an item in the US make you feel somewhat cooler on the title? Or do gun shells just <em>not matter </em>all that much?<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/wii-warm-up-the-gun-of-the-dead-overseas/">Wii Warm Up: The Gun of the Dead: Overseas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 08:00:00 EST. <br />Wow. The build-up to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/wii-fanboy-interview-headstrong-talks-house-of-the-dead-overki/"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a>'s release next month has resulted in some excellent <em>art</em> (be it in the form of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/house-of-the-dead-overkill-gets-euro-release-date-collectors/">comics</a>, limited edition <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/north-america-also-getting-house-of-the-dead-overkill-bonus/">boxart</a>, or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/">swag</a>), and here's something else <em>Overkill</em>-related to crave: this superb, <em>grindhousey</em> movie poster. We dearly hope Sega isn't intending to use this solely for the marketing of <em>Overkill</em> and then forget it forever, because this is <em>precisely</em> the kind of thing that needs to be on our walls. You can see a bigger version of this in our gallery, along with three new screens.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Sega has confirmed a <em>very spooky</em> European release date of Friday, February 13th. That's just in time to treat your loved one to a helping of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/the-house-of-the-dead-overkill-where-the-dead-walk-and-bull/">black magic and violence</a>! <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/wii-fanboy-interview-headstrong-talks-house-of-the-dead-overki/"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> players in the UK and Australia will have the option to play the game in a distinctly more <em>badass</em>, yet vaguely cosplayer-esque style, should they choose. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Sega/">Sega</a> and peripheral company <a href="http://www.venomuk.com/home/default.asp">Venom</a> will release a Wii gun shell modeled after the "Hand Cannons" the AMS agents in the game carry. Amazon.co.uk is taking preorders for the item, to be shipped on February 13 (two weeks before the February 28 date they claim for the game) at a price of &pound;12.99 ($19).<br /><br />Australian zombie-haters have it even better: NeoGAFfer untoldhero (an accurate name if ever there was one) <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14389750&amp;postcount=39">found</a> a <em>convincingly</em> official-looking <a href="http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/Product/406980">retail listing</a> for a "Bang Bang Box" bundle containing the full <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/house-of-the-dead-overkill-gets-euro-release-date-collectors/">Collector's Edition</a> of the game, with the special sleeve and the comic book, as well as two Hand Cannons, for $89 AUD ($59 USD). That price has <em>got</em> to be a mistake. We've got a picture after the break of the heartbreakingly awesome package.<br /><br />Sadly, we've seen nothing about the Hand Cannon in the US. We fear that Sega's deal with Venom doesn't extend out of PAL territories.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/16/official-house-of-the-dead-hand-cannon-shoot-like-g-does/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Official House of the Dead: Overkill Hand Cannon: shoot like G does</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/16/official-house-of-the-dead-hand-cannon-shoot-like-g-does/">Official House of the Dead: Overkill Hand Cannon: shoot like G does</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Jan 2009 10:50:00 EST. <br />If you're in the New York area between February 6 - 8, we are now officially jealous of you, for something other than the fact that you live in New York.<br /> <br />Sega USA's blog informs us that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/wii-fanboy-interview-headstrong-talks-house-of-the-dead-overki/"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/23/sonic-and-the-black-knight-boxart-suggests-more-storybook-games/"><em>Sonic and the Black Knight</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/madworlds-holiday-trailer-now-a-bit-madder/"><em>MadWorld</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/18/x-plays-the-conduit-footage-without-having-to-watch-g4/"><em>The Conduit</em></a> will <em>all</em> be playable at the 2009 New York Comic-Con, which in our opinion makes the <a href="http://www.nycomiccon.com/app/homepage.cfm?moduleid=4698&amp;appname=100453&amp;submenuheader=0&amp;campaignid=61424907&amp;iUserCampaignID=46904176">$30 fee</a> for a Friday or Sunday ticket (or even the $40 for a Saturday pass) totally palatable. We were impressed by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/realistic-zapper-mod-is-impressive-also-sort-of-scary/">"WeeP 5" Zapper mod</a>, but did have one reservation: Link would <em>never</em> use an MP5 to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/links-crossbow-training">mow down</a> a herd of Stalfoses (Stalfi?). Enter CTA Digital, who were displaying this Zapper crossbow shell at the recently finished CES 2009 (which is strange, because apparently this has been around for a while, but it's the first we've seen of it).<br />
<br />
This bad boy comes equipped with a laser sight (we seriously question the historical accuracy of this) and, as you can see, a fetching "woodgrain" finish. It looks way, <em>way</em> nicer than the <em>fugly </em>crossbow peripheral we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/you-can-now-buy-an-ugly-crossbow-peripheral-for-your-wii/">previously covered</a>, and is roughly the same price: a rather eye-watering <a href="http://www.wynit.com/products.aspx?product=35153">$29.99</a>.<br />

It <em>is</em> based on a <em>toy</em> license, after all, and $60 is a <em>big</em> risk for that. <br /><br />But $40 is approaching a reasonable price point for the set. Luckily, that is <em>just</em> the price to which GameStop has just marked the bundle down! See that odd diagram above? That's Nintendo's original design for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/21/mod-that-5-of-our-favorite-diy-zappers/">Zapper</a>. Aside from that, you'll find other gems such as the early prototype for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/peripherals-that-paved-the-way-for-the-balance-board/828581/">R.O.B.</a>, along with some other non-Nintendo patents. It's an excellent gallery of diagrams that Technologizer has put together here, so don't waste any time and <a href="http://technologizer.com/2008/12/29/patentmania-the-golden-age-of-electronic-games/">dive right in</a>. <br />Say hello to your new little friend, the "WeeP 5 Advanced Zapper," a mash-up of a toy MP5 gun and Wiimote innards (you can see the painted IR sensor just below the muzzle). The WeeP 5 is the work of Instructables user THeOReos, who was left disappointed by the range of gun shells available for the Wii (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/a-suitable-substitute-for-a-dolphin-shaped-zapper/"><em>WHAAAT?!</em></a>). It's just the ticket if you want your Zapper-compatible games to feel <em>extra</em> authentic, and we'd rather enjoy using it to drop bad dudes in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/anthony-bourdain-loves-ghost-squad-chicken-feet/"><em>Ghost Squad</em></a> (though it may not suit <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em>).<br /><br />THeOReos is confident this works well, and has posted a full step-by-step of the building process <a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/WeeP_5_Advanced_Zapper/">here</a>. We lack the patience or <em>skillz</em> to make our own, but don't let that put you off building one and sending it to us!<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://hackaday.com/2008/12/26/weep5-a-wii-zapper-on-steroids/">Hack A Day</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/realistic-zapper-mod-is-impressive-also-sort-of-scary/">Realistic Zapper mod is impressive, also sort of scary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Dec 2008 17:30:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/house-of-the-dead-overkill-gets-euro-release-date-collectors/">collector's edition</a> bundle is one of the best preorder items we've seen in a while, so it was understandably upsetting when Sega <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/house-of-the-dead-overkill-gets-euro-release-date-collectors/">initially revealed</a> the package as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/europe">Europe</a>-only bonus. You can pack that pitchfork away for another day, however, because Sega has confirmed it will be spreading the love to North America. Preorder <em>Overkill</em> at <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">GameStop, GameCrazy, or Amazon</span>, and you'll have the option to bag all of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/house-of-the-dead-overkill/1174344/full">this</a>. <br />Sega will release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead"><em>The House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> in Europe next February, and there'll be an optional bonus at "selected retailers" for fans who preorder: this rad Collector's Edition. Arriving in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/house-of-the-dead-overkill/1174346/full/">fetching minimalist slipcase</a> (loving the authentic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/">scuff marks</a>), this will come bundled with a graphic novel that tells the stories of Agent Washington and Varla Gunns, and the events that lead up to the game.<br /><br />Here's the downside: this sweet package has so far only been announced for PAL regions -- apart from Germany, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/madworld-house-of-the-dead-overkill-wont-be-released-in-germa/">obviously</a>. <div align="left">As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/finally-zapper-heads-to-xbox-originals/">promised</a>, the classic and wicked cricket <em><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/z/zapper/default-originals.htm">Zapper</a> </em>has made its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace as a 1200 Microsoft point Xbox Original title. Blitz Games' 599MB <em>Zapper</em> includes eighteen levels spread across four worlds with one final boss that's oh so intimidatingly named Maggie. Exciting stuff.<br /><br />Warning to those who love themselves scrolling credits, because <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/finally-zapper-heads-to-xbox-originals/">Microsoft warns</a> that the Xbox Originals version of <em>Zapper </em>suffers from "minor graphical corruption occurs in the End Credits" which "causes some of the end credits to appear cut off." End credits being cut off? Seriously, what has the world come to?<br /></div>

We know, we know. It's kind of hard to keep reading this when you know that <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2008/11/13/562352.aspx"><em>Zapper</em> is headed to Xbox Originals</a>. Stay with us though, because the game isn't actually available yet, so you can't run off to download it anyway. No, the game won't actually be available on the service until November 17, at which point we imagine all of the world's social interaction and commerce will cease -- apart from the massive influx of MS Point purchases -- throwing the global economy into a tailspin. Deliveries will stop, utilities will shut down, but no one will care. We'll all be mesmerized by the awesomeness that is <em>Zapper</em>, and we will play until the electricity fails. As Zapper constantly prods the pleasure nodes in our brains, we will slowly, blissfully succumb to starvation.<br /><br />Either that or <em>Zapper</em>'s release will slip by completely unnoticed, one of the two.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/zapper-coming-to-xbox-originals-why-are-you-laughing/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/finally-zapper-heads-to-xbox-originals/">Finally, Zapper heads to Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 12:00:00 EST. You know that song, "Live Like You Were Dying?" You know what near-death activity you <em>won't</em> find in there between "Rocky Mountain climbin'" and going "2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu?" "Turning forgettable <em>Frogger 2 </em>rip-off <em>Zapper</em> into an Xbox Original." Likewise, "playing <em>Zapper</em>" or "ever thinking about <em>Zapper</em>" are also conspicuously absent. In fact, we'd wager that you could gather the bucket lists of every member of humanity and never see <em>Zapper </em>mentioned once.<br /><br />This is why we should have been consulted before a single member of humanity was tasked with spending one nanosecond of their time turning <em>Zapper</em> into a 1200-point Xbox Original. Then we could have advised them that they'd be better off wadding all that time into a big chrono-ball, putting it in a rocket and <em>shooting it into the sun</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/zapper-coming-to-xbox-originals-why-are-you-laughing/">Zapper coming to Xbox Originals, why are you laughing?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 09:45:00 EST. Nyko's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/wii-fanboy-review-nyko-perfect-shot/">Perfect Shot</a> caused a minor sensation when it came out, by being <em>much</em> more gun-like than, and basically superior to, Nintendo's own Zapper. It was even hard to find for a while. The situation seems to have gotten a lot better in terms of availability, though they might sell out again after this. GameStop has reduced the price of Nyko's handgun-shaped Wii Remote shell to just ten dollars.<br /><br />Other price reductions that may interest you: Koei's ambitious RPG <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=471"><em>Opoona</em></a> for $30, the first <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=70819"><em>Rock Band</em> bundle</a> for $140, and <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=66604"><em>Dewy's Adventure</em></a> used for $13. We'll also point out <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=1208"><em>Target Terror</em></a> for $20 here if only because you could actually <em>use</em> the Perfect Shot with it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/10/perfect-shot-at-the-perfect-price/">Perfect Shot at the perfect price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 12:45:00 EST. <br />Censors, be damned! That's more or less the attitude of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/house-of-the-dead-overkill-has-terror-slaughter-possibly-cute/"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> developer Headstrong Games, which has said it won't be compromising the amount of gore in <em>Overkill</em>.<br /><br />"Sometimes we've gone 'ooh, we shouldn't really do that'," producer Neil McEwen tells CVG, "but then we've gone 'no, hell yes we should'." McEwen reasons that, as nobody is getting exploited, then buckets of claret are justifiable: he suggests the gore will be as "extreme as possible." He also plays the tongue-in-cheek card, though that didn't help <em>MadWorld</em> when the <em>Daily Mail</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/12/madworld-indeed-the-backlash-begins/">came knocking</a>. Even if censors <em>have </em>already ensured the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/madworld-house-of-the-dead-overkill-wont-be-released-in-germa/">won't be released in Germany</a>, we salute McEwen and Headstrong for this carefree attitude. If only other developers and publishers were as bold.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/house-of-the-dead-overkill-dev-not-worried-about-censors-piles/">House of the Dead: Overkill dev not worried about censors, piles on the gore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 17:55:00 EST. <br />Wii peripherals have proven a profitable business for Nintendo, and a new member, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/e308-wiispeak-with-mario/">WiiSpeak microphone</a>, will join this rapidly growing family later this month. In our experience, these accessories mostly enhance the games they support, and that's <em>great and all</em>, but it has been a while since we actually perched on our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/cant-find-wii-fit-here-are-some-alternatives/">Balance Boards</a>, or waved our Wii Wheel about to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/wii-fanboy-review-mario-kart-wii/"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a>, or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/the-house-of-the-novelty-costumes/">Zappered zombies</a>. When was the last time you played a Wii title with something other than a naked Wiimote and Nunchuk, and what was the game?<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/wii-warm-up-peripheral-issues/">Wii Warm Up: Peripheral issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 08:00:00 EST. We thought that when the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/inspect-the-zapper-even-more-closely/">Wii Zapper</a> bundle was released, Nintendo fans would hang on to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/metareview-links-crossbow-training/"><em>Link's Crossbow Training</em></a> and dump the included plastic handle, but it appears that the opposite is true. GameStop has just dropped the price of used copies of <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em> from five bucks to a ridiculous $2.99. The retailer is not currently offering used Zappers on their online store.<br />
<br />
At the amazingly low (seriously, like <em>last year's Madden </em>low) $2.99, <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em> is officially Worth It for pretty much everybody, provided they have even a passing interest in the <em>Zelda</em> series or in shooting at stuff. And with no Zapper, it's so much more <em>compact!</em> If you're planning to grab this from the online store, use coupon code CAG16 (for <a href="http://cheapassgamer.com">Cheap Ass Gamers</a>) to get an additional 16% off the price.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/10/links-price-slashing/">Link's Price Slashing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Sep 2008 17:25:00 EST. There are certain things that we, as gamers, just need to have. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/29/nintendo-confirms-wii-wavebird-support/">Wavebird controllers</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/25/people-panic-buying-classic-controllers/">Classic controllers</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/wii-fanboy-hands-on-with-penguin-4x-quad-charge-station/">a rechargeable battery solution</a> for our Wiimotes are just a few of these things. What would you say is essential equipment for your Wii? What peripherals and other equipment can you not live without? Your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zapper">Zapper</a>? Your Wavebirds, like us? Your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/wii-warm-up-wearing-the-jacket/">Wiimote jackets</a>? Apparently, one Bradley Crooks, developer at Headstrong Games, revealed to Gamekyo a few details about the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sega">Sega</a> game on every Wii gamers' mind (if it isn't on your brain, then you should get your head checked) during an event at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/leipzig-08">Leipzig</a>. The list is fairly long, so head past the break, where it's all been organized with helpful bullet points.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/gc-2008-details-for-house-of-the-dead-overkill-escape/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GC 2008: Details for House of the Dead: Overkill escape Leipzig</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/gc-2008-details-for-house-of-the-dead-overkill-escape/">GC 2008: Details for House of the Dead: Overkill escape Leipzig</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Aug 2008 16:35:00 EST. For those of you who've been tracking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/quantum-of-solace"><em>Quantum of Solace</em></a> over at The Stiq, you know that most of the worthwhile things to discuss about the game have come from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Well, it would appear that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/activision">Activision</a> isn't leaving Wii owners out to dry, as some cool features are being utilized in the Wii version of the title. <br /><br />For one, there will be multiple control schemes. Gamers can use the tried-and-true Wiimote and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nunchuk">Nunchuk</a> setup, or they can bust out their Zapper and play with that. On top of that, Activision has also confirmed the game will feature online multiplayer, as well as 4-player split-screen local multiplayer, which is exclusive to the Wii installment.<br /><br />Activision is also hard at work to make sure the game is no graphical slouch. Seeing as how the engine behind the game is the same used in <em>Call of Duty 4</em>, we're sure <em>Quantum of Solace</em> will have some lovely visuals.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/24/quantum-of-solace-has-zapper-support-online-multiplayer/">Quantum of Solace has Zapper support, online multiplayer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 24 Aug 2008 13:30:00 EST. <br />So far, we're <span style="font-style: italic;">loving</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sega">Sega</a>'s marketing of <span style="font-style: italic;">House of the Dead: Overkill</span>. We thought <span style="font-style: italic;">nothing</span> could top the cracking grindhouse-style trailer released when the game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/the-house-of-the-dead-overkill-where-the-dead-walk-and-bull/">announced</a>, but some of the swag associated with the game comes close.<br /><br />Destructoid's Jim Sterling (and we assume our other esteemed, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gc08">Leipzig</a>-attending colleagues in the press) just received the above video cassette box. Inside, Sterling discovered a postcard resembling a VHS tape, and a T-shirt that expands in water. Best of all, he notes how the box has been designed to look damaged and scuffed, so that it looks like the kind of under-the-counter filth that you may have found abandoned on a disused section of railway as a youngster; very subtle, Sega! Blast your way through the break for a couple more shots.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>House of the Amazing Swag</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/">House of the Amazing Swag</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Aug 2008 21:23:00 EST. For those of you looking to get your hands (or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/e308-call-of-duty-world-at-war-to-utilize-zapper/">your Zapper</a>) dirty in the Pacific theater, know that the Treyarch-developed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/24/joystiq-talks-to-treyarchs-mark-lamia-on-cod-5/"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> will be hitting shelves this November, according to <a href="http://www.onlythegames.com/articles/playstation-3-articles/call-of-duty-world-at-war-hits-this-november">OnlytheGames</a>. They're claiming an Activision PR rep divulged this info to them and we're inclined to believe it. November seems to be a good month to release games.<br /><br />Joystiq managed to pry a statement from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/activision">Activision</a>: "we haven't made any announcement about date other than fall of 2008." Oddly enough, November falls right into that timeframe.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/only-the-games-call-of-duty-world-at-war-coming-in-november/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/call-of-duty-world-at-war-ships-off-this-november/">Call of Duty: World at War ships off this November</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Aug 2008 18:33:00 EST. IGN has the first look at <em>Nerf N-Strike,</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/EA/">EA</a>'s Wii game that comes with a hybrid Zapper/Nerf dart gun. It's going to be marketed as a hybrid as well, apparently, being sold in both the Nerf and video game sections of retailers. We gawked at the awesome gun a few months back when it was first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/eas-nerf-n-strike-is-nerf-onscreen-and-off/">revealed</a>, but this is the first info about the actual game.<br /><br />As expected, <em>N-Strike</em> is a shooting game in which you use Nerf weapons in-game -- against Nerf-susceptible robots, as seen in the above screen. The guns apparently behave like real Nerf guns, which means that the projectiles move much more slowly than actual bullets.<br /><br />The game also contains multiplayer modes, one of which sounds quite similar to a current EA favorite. In <em>Blox,</em> players shoot one dart at a time into a structure of cubes until one uncovers a target block. It's a shooting-game take on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/boom-blox-sales-stack-up/"><em>Boom Blox</em></a>, and it sounds like a pretty clever tie-in to the other game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/15/nerf-n-strike-features-boom-blox-inspired-game/">Nerf N-Strike features Boom Blox-inspired game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Aug 2008 17:30:00 EST. Light gun game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/wild-west-guns-shoot-guns-at-the-wild-west/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Wild West Guns</span></a> rides into <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">town</span> the European Wii Shop today for its worldwide debut, complete with Zapper compatibility, six levels, four-player support, and a whole host of mildly offensive steretypes. Truth be told, it looks quite fun in the post-break trailer -- certainly a lot more engaging than, say, <span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/konami-takes-cue-from-sega-brings-arcade-shooter-to-wii/">Target Terror</a>.</span> <em>Far more importantly</em>, it gave us an excuse to post a Will Smith video. Wicky, wicky!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Defend Your Castle</span> has also finally arrived, and is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/wii-fanboy-review-defend-your-castle/">totally worth a look</a>. <br />

During <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/e308-highlights-from-nintendos-keynote/">Nintendo's E3 keynote today</a>, the promotional reel of third-party titles showed us something different about <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/fall-in-to-the-world-at-war-website/">Call of Duty: World at War</a> </em>for the Wii. It will utilize <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/wii-zapper-gets-unboxed/">the Wii Zapper</a>!<br /><br />Aside from a brief clip of a young gentleman <em>having the time of his life</em> with the game, Wii Zapper clutched firmly in his hands, we've nothing else to report on the matter. But, then again, what else more would you need? It supports the Zapper.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/e308-call-of-duty-world-at-war-to-utilize-zapper/">E308: Call of Duty: World at War to utilize Zapper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jul 2008 19:30:00 EST. We're sure that many of you have tried some sort of gun peripheral in your travels, and maybe even own one. If so, which one(s) have you tried? Well, November or <em>some other time</em> or nothin', but we really wanted to use the old Nerf tagline, you know? In their original press release revealing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/eas-nerf-n-strike-is-nerf-onscreen-and-off/"><em>Nerf N-Strike</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/EA/">EA</a> assigned it a fall release window. A new listing on GameStop.com for the game provides a more definite release date: November 17, which puts it right in the middle of the holiday release season. If this is the real release date, it could mean that EA intends for <em>Nerf N-Strike</em> to be one of their major Wii releases for the year!<br /><br />In addition to the release date, GameStop also offers a potential price for the game, which also includes the mindblowing Nerf gun/Wii Zapper hybrid: $59.99. No matter how awesome the gun is (and it looks <em>way </em>awesome), that game had better be <em>vast</em> for that kind of scratch.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/its-november-or-nothin-for-nerf-n-strike/">It's November or nothin' for Nerf N-Strike</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jun 2008 19:00:00 EST.
