In the celebration of all things great and American, we're proud to present the characters of <em>inFamous</em> and <em>Prototype</em> cross-dressing. YAY! (See <em>inFamous</em>' Cole after the break.)<br /><br />Okay, so you're probably wondering where these images <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/op-ed/6228-Yahtzees-Prototype-vs-InFamous-Challenge">came from</a>. Yahtzee presented a challenge to the development teams of these two games after he couldn't decide which game was better in a recent episode of <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/789-Prototype">Zero Punctuation</a>. So, he jokingly said the "winner" would be whichever team sends in an image of the other game's protagonist cross-dressing.<br /><br />And now the world is a much better place.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/04/happy-4th-of-july-heres-alex-mercer-with-boobs-cole-mcgrath-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Happy 4th of July! It's finally happened! <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee speaks glorificously about a title without the distinct smell of [<strong>edited</strong>] having been [<strong>edited</strong>] in his [<strong>edited</strong>] by someone from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Valve/">Valve</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/double-fine">Double Fine</a>. <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> is the masterpiece that made the once bad boy of game reviews open his heart and learn to love again like an overused British analogy that we should write here.<br /><br />Anyway, it's been a long time coming, but any love <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> can receive deserves to be spread far and wide on the internets. That game is awesome! Check out the ZP review at <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/748-Duke-Nukem-Forever">The Escapist</a> as the embed doesn't seem to work given the game's fantabulousness.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/zero-punctuation-lovity-love-loves-duke-nukem-forever/">Zero Punctuation lovity love loves Duke Nukem Forever</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 May 2009 02:00:00 EST. After what seems like a breathless eternity, Yahtzee has <em>finally</em> reviewed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> for <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/525-Gears-of-War-2">Zero Punctuation</a>. The verdict: He likes it. Naturally, he levels a few complaints at the game, most notably the strange abundance of chest-high walls on the planet Sera. Overall, the review praises the game as a good mainstream title with a a healthy amount of variety (a little too <em>much</em> variety in the case of level design). Find the review after the break.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Ahem, <em>now</em> the video is after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/zero-punctuation-chainsawdomizes-gears-of-war-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation chainsawdomizes Gears of War 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/zero-punctuation-chainsawdomizes-gears-of-war-2/">Zero Punctuation chainsawdomizes Gears of War 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Jan 2009 18:00:00 EST. Understandably bitter about Eidos' cost-cutting, Lindstrom is now answering fan questions on a popular <em>Tomb Raider</em> fan forum, giving an intriguing and frank insight into the development process (including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/tomb-raider-underworld-creative-director-speaks-out-on-his-layo/">details</a> Eidos probably didn't want publicized).<br /><br />One of the more interesting factoids to emerge from Lindstrom's open Q &amp; A session is that Crystal Dynamics was held back by Eidos from making <em>Underworld</em> an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/the-wiis-m-rated-offerings-rounded-up/">M-rated title</a>. "I wanted to do things that a Teen rating prevented," explained Lindstrom, "but I also wanted it to get the players the first unrated games, did. In the end it didn't matter because publishing wanted it to be Teen."<br /><br />So far, the <em>Tomb Raider</em> franchise has contained only Teen-rated games, but was a Mature title still a possibility? Says Lindstrom: "The managers who said it had to be Teen left some time ago, so maybe that could change sometime." We assume such a game would either include more violence, or, as some sites have been quick to suggest, a more risqu&eacute; depiction of Lara.<br /><br />Though something evidently has to change after <em>Underworld</em>'s disappointing sales, does anybody else find such a prospect depressing? We'd prefer it if Eidos concentrated on shipping games that, y'know, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/glitch-in-tomb-raider-underworld-ends-the-game/"><em>functioned</em> correctly</a>. Also, while we're discussing <span style="font-style: italic;">Underworld</span>, we figured this would be an appropriate place to mention the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> review, which just popped up in our RSS feeds -- catch the video after the jump!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/m-rated-tomb-raider-a-possibility/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>M-rated Tomb Raider a possibility?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/m-rated-tomb-raider-a-possibility/">M-rated Tomb Raider a possibility?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 17:28:00 EST. <br />In this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>, imperator of ire and maharajah of moodiness Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw has taken time out to sling a few quick-witted barbs at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic-unleashed"><em>Sonic Unleashed</em></a>.<br /><br />True to form, Yahtzee quickly sets about smacking <em>Unleashed</em> down a peg or ten; in fact, this could be one of the <em>angriest</em> pieces we've seen from Croshaw in some time. It didn't totally agree with our own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/08/wii-fanboy-review-sonic-unleashed/">mainly scathing review</a>, either: for one, he seems to <em>prefer</em> the <strike>Werehog</strike> Wolfhog stages (madness, we say, but horses for courses, and all that), and for two, we actually quite liked the day stages, whereas Yahtzee is <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/472-Sonic-Unleashed">revulsed</a>.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/17/zero-punctuation-takes-on-sonic-unleashed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation takes on Sonic Unleashed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/17/zero-punctuation-takes-on-sonic-unleashed/">Zero Punctuation takes on Sonic Unleashed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Dec 2008 18:11:00 EST. It's been a while since we've checked in with our old friend Yahtzee, so we were eager to hear his thoughts on one of our favorite games in recent memory: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Left-4-Dead/">Left 4 Dead</a></em>. And guess what?! He didn't hate it! ... Well, since we're still in Reality Prime, he had plenty of mean things to say about it, but he was probably as nice as he could be without some sort of dimensional shift.<br /><br />See how much of his assessment you agree with in the video <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/459-Left-4-Dead">right here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/zero-punctuation-almost-sort-of-likes-left-4-dead/">Zero Punctuation almost, sort of likes Left 4 Dead</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Dec 2008 09:25:00 EST. As a general rule of thumb, if you <em>really</em> like a particular game -- and if you're easily riled -- it's a good idea <em>not</em> to watch the Zero Punctuation review of said game. And yet, here we are. We have something of a crush on around Fanboy Towers and it was with some trepidation that we watched <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/459-Left-4-Dead"><em>Left 4 Dead</em>Zero Punctuation's review</a>. As it turns out, Yahtzee doesn't completely dismember the game, though he doesn't outright praise it either. More or less the review outlines what most have said. The co-op is fun, the level selection is a bit limited but overall the game is well designed. The verdict: it's up to you to guage whether or not the fun to be had in <em>Left 4 Dead</em> is worth the price of admission.<br /><br />Check out the review after the break (as usual, the video contains some language that is NSFW).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/zero-punctuation-takes-on-left-4-dead/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation takes on Left 4 Dead</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/zero-punctuation-takes-on-left-4-dead/">Zero Punctuation takes on Left 4 Dead</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 18:30:00 EST. <br />For his latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> review, renowned intertubes misanthrope Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw has cast his jaded eye over Activision's <span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero: World Tour</span>.<br /><br />Things start off well between reviewer and game (though <span style="font-style: italic;">Rock Band</span>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/rock-band-makes-it-to-australia-forgets-luggage/">troubled</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/rumor-australian-retailers-pass-on-rock-band/">relationship</a> with Australia undoubtedly has something to do with this) but Yahtzee soon finds assorted holes to pick at, with some of his targets including the pointlessness of Spanish language songs in an English language release, the new slide bar on <span style="font-style: italic;">World Tour</span>'s guitars, and the game's credentials as a karaoke simulator. Hit up <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/452-Guitar-Hero-World-Tour">The Escapist</a> for the review in full or simply jump past the break.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/26/guitar-hero-world-tour-gets-yahtzeed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Guitar Hero World Tour gets Yahtzeed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/26/guitar-hero-world-tour-gets-yahtzeed/">Guitar Hero World Tour gets Yahtzeed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Nov 2008 20:05:00 EST. <br />It's been a while since master of misanthropy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw</a> was featured on these pages, but now he's back, in full sneering mode, with a scathing review of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/24/the-force-unleashed-sells-1-5-million-copies-in-its-first-week/">colossally popular</a> <span style="font-style: italic;">Star Wars: The Force Unleashed</span>. Like many of us, Yahtzee hoped the Wii's motion-sensing capabilities would open the door to a whole new galaxy of light saber swish-a-thons that <span style="font-style: italic;">worked</span>, only to be disappointed.<br /><br />His ire is eventually directed towards the "temperamental" Wii Remote, which he describes as "like playing any other console but with all the buttons randomly reassigned every couple of seconds." <span style="font-style: italic;">Ouch</span>. Bound past the jump for the full, <span style="font-weight: bold;">NSFW</span> review.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-4/">Star Wars: The Force Unleashed</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-4/#1085657"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tmpphpaujv0b-swfu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-4/#1085656"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tmpphp48ks5v-swfu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-4/#1085655"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tmpphp2mt0rq-swfu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-4/#1085654"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tmpphp2cq0hy-swfu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-4/#1085652"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tmpphpdz4gbf-swfu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/zero-punctuation-force-chokes-the-force-unleashed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation force chokes The Force Unleashed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/zero-punctuation-force-chokes-the-force-unleashed/">Zero Punctuation force chokes The Force Unleashed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Oct 2008 20:08:00 EST. Oh come now, don't look so surprised, you had to know this was coming. After Will Wright spent a stone cold decade building his delicate sand castle of simulated life, did you really think Yahtzee would be able to resist letting his editorial foot careen through the spires, coating young Will's glasses in sand and tears? Of course not.<br /><br />Yahtzee reiterates most of the complaints about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Spore/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Spore</span></a> you've heard from reviewers already, but at least he does it a lot more entertainingly than most of them. Just when we all thought that the lumbering storm cloud that washed <em>Too Human</em>'s existence with unrestrained negativity (or "mixed" positivity, depending on how you look at it), we remembered something: <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>. As a man who loves to hate, we imagine there was no way Yahtzee would pass up a game like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/too-human"><em>Too Human</em></a>. It is, in his opinion, universally bad and apparently has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. To anyone who enjoys the game (frankly, we've been a bit addicted), you have been warned. The <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/203-Braid">latest Zero Punctuation</a> tackles the time bending <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live-arcade">XBLA</a> title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/braid"><em>Braid</em></a>. Yahtzee's opinion is somewhat mixed, taking note of the well designed puzzles but also noting that the game reused certain puzzles and that some puzzles require players to restart a level if failed, which Yahtzee describes as a "dick move." Another complaint is leveled at the story, which the review cites as pretentious and unnecessarily confusing. Overall though, the gameplay seems to triumph over any flaws. Check out the video after the break (NSFW due to language).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/zero-punctuation-tangles-with-braid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation tangles with Braid</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/zero-punctuation-tangles-with-braid/">Zero Punctuation tangles with Braid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Aug 2008 13:15:00 EST. <div align="left">This week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> makes us wonder: What E3 is Yahtzee talking about? Perhaps things seemed different from the outside, but this year's show actually saw a slew of original titles -- shockingly enough, many from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/joystiq-live-at-electronic-arts-e3-2008-press-conference/">the maw of EA</a>. Sure, there is some serious sequelitus going on (and certain outlets really need to stop riding <strike><em>RE4</em> v2</strike> <span style="font-style: italic;">RE5</span>'s rooster), but we were pleasantly surprised by some of the new IPs. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee has himself an awful game this week with <span style="font-style: italic;">Alone in the Dark</span>, and he uses the opportunity for all that it's worth. This is a classic episode for the amount of ire it dishes out. Yes, it's everything one expects from Yahtzee reviewing Edward Carnby's latest misadventure in the well-intentioned, but ultimately flawed, game.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/130-Alone-in-the-Dark">NSFW clip<span style="font-style: italic;"></span></a> can be found after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/zero-punctuation-unleashes-the-fury-on-alone-in-the-dark/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation unleashes the fury on Alone in the Dark</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/zero-punctuation-unleashes-the-fury-on-alone-in-the-dark/">Zero Punctuation unleashes the fury on Alone in the Dark</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Jul 2008 19:50:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee takes on both the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-indiana-jones" style="font-style: italic;">Lego Indiana Jones</a> game and the latest movie in his latest review. For his take on the game, the ornery critic comes up with an equation for figuring out how much you'll enjoy playing as Indy in the blockified platformer. <br />
<br />
If doing mathematicals isn't your thing, just think about how much fun you'll have killing Short Round -- or Willie -- over and over again. Although it still doesn't beat the cathartic Jar-Jar killing of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-star-wars"><em>Lego Star Wars</em></a> game.<br />

This week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> takes a long, hard and ironic look at the glut of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/webcomic">gaming webcomics</a>. Yes, Yahtzee fully realizes the hypocrisy of his words, but that's not going to stop him from flinging poo and keeping those traffic numbers high. We imagine it getting weird when Yahtzee's piece about webcomics spawns more comics about the subject and proves everything he's saying in the first place.<br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>The NSFW ZP <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/zero-punctuation-draws-out-the-webcomic-template/">review of webcomics</a> can be found after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/zero-punctuation-draws-out-the-webcomic-template/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation draws out the webcomic template</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/zero-punctuation-draws-out-the-webcomic-template/">Zero Punctuation draws out the webcomic template</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 02:00:00 EST. By the time the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> video review of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mgs4"><em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em></a> ended, we still had another two and a half minutes of commercials to watch. Given our dire attention spans, we'd completely forgotten what had happened! But those ads sure are spiffy ... Wasn't it cool how Ryu Hyuwhatshisname from <em>Ninja Gaiden II</em> chopped those guys in half? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ninja-gaiden-II"><em>Ninja Gaiden II</em></a> is awesome! We should all go out and buy <em>Ninja Gaiden II</em>, right now!<br /><br />... If you want to watch <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/99-Metal-Gear-Solid-4">this week's review</a> of ... what was it again? Oh, <em>MGS4</em>. Check it out after the break. This week he predictably lays into <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em> for exactly the reasons we expected. He dislikes the amount and length of the cutscenes , which are fair points. We know a lot of people can't get passed the heavy story. He goes on to label the gameplay cluttered and says that the entire series is badly written. Strong words. <br /><br />Obviously we don't agree with what Yahtzee says, but the video is still hilarious -- and in the end, that's what Zero Punctuation is all about. Ignore the complaints for what they are, vehicles for his unique brand of humor. Our favorite part of this week's episode has to be the insinuation that Snake and Otacon are more than just good friends. We must say, it crossed our mind at times while we were playing through the game, too.<br /><br />[Thanks Outinthedark &amp; konungr]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/yahtzee-takes-on-solid-snake-and-loses/">Yahtzee takes on Solid Snake and loses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jun 2008 13:15:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">OK, we have a situation. Yahtzee's latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> piece couldn't knock one out of the park with such a simple target like <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/haze">Haze</a>. Even standard reviews <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/metareview-haze/">did a good job</a> roasting it. The curmudgeon expat still trashes the game, but it's like he received a Nectar injection and was fighting the effects as he put together the review ... seriously, we're talking about the game that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/haze-down-to-40-at-gamestop/">can already be found for $40</a>. We're hoping this week's review is merely a hiccup and that <span style="font-style: italic;">Haze</span> will finally sink in on Yahtzee, making him go ballistic next week.<br /><br />Due to technical difficulties we are unable to post ZP after the break. <div style="text-align: left;"> To refill his rage this week, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation/">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee took a trip back to the simpler time of 2006 and grabbed a copy of <em>The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion</em> off the new release shelf. Being a Western RPG, instead of a JRPG, the game actually stood a small chance of stealing Yahtzee's artificial heart. Of course, the problems with the voice acting and immersion that plagued the game when it first released haven't aged well. Yahtzee obviously takes the opportunity to jam a lead pipe into Oblivion and hoover out every last bit of hate he can. <br /><br />Find <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/75-Oblivion">this week's</a> NSFW ZP review of the game where Patrick Stewart plays the emperor for about 10 minutes after the break.</div>

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation/">Zero Punctuation</a> discovers <em>The World Ends With You</em> this week. This sudden realization has caused him to send his vast internet army to your house and kill you. Really! <em>Run</em>!<br />
<br />
Actually, <span style="font-style: italic;">The World Ends With You</span> is a JRPG that's been getting some <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/worldendswithyou?q=the%20world%20ends%20with%20you">strongly supportive reviews</a> from several outlets that do that reviewing sort of thing. As any disciple of Yahtzee knows at this point, he hates JRPGs and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/zero-punctuation-reviews-fanboys/">Nintendo</a> -- the jury is still out though on which one he hates more. <span style="font-style: italic;">TWEWY </span>gets off easy in this review by confusing Yahtzee to the point where he can't form an opinion and leaves it up to the audience.<br />

With such a vast catalog of high-profile, big-budget console games under his reviewing belt, Yahtzee risks life and limb this week to review <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/28/ds-fanboy-review-the-world-ends-with-you/"><em>The World Ends with You</em></a> on the DS. It may be known around these parts as a stellar action-RPG with outrageous originality and style, but we're well aware that no amount of praise can stop that affable British chap from offering a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">hefty serving</a> of hate.<br /><br />It's certainly a unique genre to tackle, and we know everyone is totally ready to accept his criticism in the most professional manner possible. Well, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/zero-punctuation-reviews-fanboys/">maybe not</a>, but it makes for a funny video all the same! <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation/">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee rocks it old school this week in a trip down "kill everything you see" lane with a review of <span style="font-style: italic;">Painkiller</span>. Way back in 2004, which if internet time is converted to normal time is circa 1674, <span style="font-style: italic;">Painkiller</span> received <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/painkiller?q=painkiller">better-than-average</a> reviews by embracing the first-person shooter genre like it was the '90s and <span style="font-style: italic;">Doom</span> was still en vogue. So, this week Yahtzee talks about the game "where you kill tons of dudes" and gets comfortable for the relatively dry summer release schedule ... well, winter for him.<br />

Yahtzee's <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/4902-Zero-Punctuation-Grand-Theft-Auto-IV">latest Zero Punctuation review</a> this week is none other than everyone's favorite crime simulator, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gtaiv"><em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em></a>. While he (of course) does his best to pick the game's fault apart one by one, Yahtzee still comes across as actually liking the game. Fans of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">ZP</a> will know that this is high praise indeed (though we imagine it will still spark nasty, hate-filled emails from <em>GTA</em> fanboys). As for the negatives, the review makes note of wonky driving, escort missions, and the constant need to entertain Niko's friends. Beyond such criticisms though, the review deigns to call <em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em> "really good." Apparently Yahtzee found the fanboy uproar over his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/zero-punctuation-beats-up-smash-bros-brawl-youre-surprised/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Super Smash Bros. Yahtzee finds his rage again this week and lashes out in a way that many professionals who make their living off the internet wish they could. Not us, of course, we're too heavily medicated and just allow the sea of hate to wash over us in waves of brilliant pinks and purples. <br />Were you one of the easily offended, outraged souls who took umbrage with Zero Punctuation's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/zero-punctuation-has-zero-tolerance-for-brawl/">more-than-scathing review</a> of <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Smash Bros. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee isn't content with taking on just <em>God of War: Chains of Olympus</em> this week. No, he takes on the whole bloody franchise. What we end up getting is almost four minutes of Yahtzee admitting that he's nitpicking and that the series helps give us relief from our <strike>9</strike> 8:30 to <strike>5</strike> 6 (with a half-hour lunch break) lives. The trademark Yahtzee anger just isn't there in this review, but considering it was overflowing in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/zero-punctuation-beats-up-smash-bros-brawl-youre-surprised/">last week's <em>Smash Bros.</em> piece</a>, an easing of tension might be good for a week.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/4845-Zero-Punctuation-Super-Smash-Bros-Brawl">This week's</a> NSFW review eviscerating <em>God of War: Chains of Olympus </em>can be found after the break. <span style="font-style: italic;"></span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/30/zero-punctuation-takes-on-the-god-of-war/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation takes on the God of War</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/30/zero-punctuation-takes-on-the-god-of-war/">Zero Punctuation takes on the God of War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Apr 2008 16:00:00 EST. <br />Oh dear. This isn't going to be pretty. We're going to hazard a guess that Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw's opinion of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/smash-bros-brawl"><span style="font-style: italic;">Super Smash Bros. Brawl</span></a> doesn't exactly coincide with the view taken by most of our readers -- frankly, it sounds like he hated every minute of Nintendo's scrapper.<br /><br />But before you start punching out that hate-filled, trembling-with-rage email to the man, <span style="font-style: italic;">stop right there</span> and hear him out, because you may just find yourself <span style="font-style: italic;">agreeing</span> with some of his points -- even <span style="font-style: italic;">we</span> had to concede that a number of his grievances have bugged us in the past. With that in mind, take some deep breaths and head past the break for one of the most venomous <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> reviews to date, and the usual dose of <span style="font-weight: bold;">NSFW</span> language.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/zero-punctuation-has-zero-tolerance-for-brawl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation has zero tolerance for Brawl</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/zero-punctuation-has-zero-tolerance-for-brawl/">Zero Punctuation has zero tolerance for Brawl</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Apr 2008 17:00:00 EST. So, anyone out there play <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo_prophecy"><em>Indigo Prophecy</em></a> (known as <em>Fahrenheit</em> in Europe)? You remember how about halfway through everything got really stupid? Remember how all the intriguing elements gave way to a ridiculous plot? If not, you could always pick it up on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> and find out. Anyway, if Yahtzee (of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> fame) is to be believed, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/condemned-2"><em>Condemned 2: Bloodshot</em></a> suffers from <em>Indigo Prophecy </em>syndrome. In other words, it's a great game ... right up until the halfway point. Find out exactly what went wrong after the break (as usual, this week's <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/4742-Zero-Punctuation-Condemned-2-Bloodshot">Zero Punctuation video</a> is NSFW).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/17/zero-punctuation-likes-half-of-condemned-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation likes half of Condemned 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/17/zero-punctuation-likes-half-of-condemned-2/">Zero Punctuation likes half of Condemned 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Apr 2008 13:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a>'s Yahtzee beats up sleep-deprived hobos this week for his <span style="font-style: italic;">Condemned 2: Bloodshot</span> review and, up until the midway point, was all set to name it "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ninja-gaiden-2">game of the year</a>." Apparently, <span style="font-style: italic;">Condemned 2</span> suffers from the same disease which afflicted <span style="font-style: italic;">Indigo Prophecy</span> (<span style="font-style: italic;">Fahrenheit</span> to our European friends), where the game took a left turn halfway through and players were introduced to concepts that ruined everything built up to that point. Those who played <span style="font-style: italic;">Indigo Prophecy</span> (and were enjoying themselves) probably remember the moment that game went from intriguing to ridiculous.<br />

<span style="font-style: italic;"></span><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zero-punctuation">Zero Punctuation</a> discovers that we could use another hero (<a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=1p2VjKueoBA">and a way home</a>) in this week's review of Suda 51's <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span>. Rightful finger-pointing at Suda 51's pretentiousness starts the review, but it soon gets slashed away by Yahtzee's belief that <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span> does offer something "different." As we all know, "different" is this industry's version of the <em>Monopoly</em> "Get Out of Jail Free" card. It won't save a game from nasty reviews, but the cuts are certainly less deep.<br /><br />Thunderdome your way to <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/3554-Zero-Punctuation-No-More-Heroes">this week's</a> NSFW review of <span style="font-style: italic;">No More Heroes</span> after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/zero-punctuation-believes-in-no-more-heroes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero Punctuation believes in No More Heroes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/zero-punctuation-believes-in-no-more-heroes/">Zero Punctuation believes in No More Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Apr 2008 23:00:00 EST.
