I second that Jody. Tis a shame the DS and Wii have nothing new that we haven't seen countless times before. I mean, the touchscreen, motion control, and seperating a 20 year old controller design into 2 seperate parts have been done to death. WiiFit, blah, seen it before. God, Nintendo, as a shareholder and certified fanboy of yours, I am dissapointed with your inability to innovate and try something new.

Disney lets Mickey rest? After 80 years, he still appears in shit. Come back when Mario hits 80 and see if he still makes appearances in TV shows and video games.

Disney/Mickey might be a bad example as they convinced congress to CHANGE copyright law pretty much just so they could hang on to Mickey for another 20 years.

really? did you just say nintendo is afraid to try anything new?
::looks at wii::
::looks at PS3 and 360::

and if you're just talking about IPs, Nintendo is rolling out new IPs all the time, but that doesn't mean they have to stop making old ones.

Nintendo moves Metroid from 2D sidescrolling to full 3D, they put first a an analog joystiq on the N64 controller, put rumble on Star Fox 64 for before Sony, try something new with the DS, try something with the Wii, put first a console wireless controller that works (Wavebird), new Ip and type of games (Pikmin, Brain Age Big Brain games, WiiFit...

So, I guess Nintendo never do something new...

"Disney/Mickey might be a bad example as they convinced congress to CHANGE copyright law pretty much just so they could hang on to Mickey for another 20 years."

And THAT'S why I hate Disney! They also have convinced the SCOTUS of this, too.
Copyright laws, especially in the internet age, are WAAAAY out of date.
It's bullshit that I can't use a song or movie clip from the 1920's and not worry about being sued.

Yeah they never do anything new. Its always Mario. Lets forget Pikmin, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid, Kid Icarus, FX Zero, and Star fox. Man, why do people only think of oneside. Nintendo has created many new ips and Nintendo is its mascot. Its like if Disney chose not to use Mickey Mouse anymore.

the opinions of the minority count for little when you talk about product marketing...

But this looks like great fun, they take the free-moving 3D platforming spirit, and extend it to include fully 3D world (one of few) where jumps can actually be gaged in all degrees of motion

I hate to criticize you Joystiq, and I mean this in the most constructive sense, but those really aren't impressions. You are saying what the levels were like but not saying how they played and how you felt about them, whether you had fun or if the controls were sluggish, if the graphics impressed you, etcetera. I'll assume it was pretty good, then?

They've been doing that lately. Giving a verbal description of what they saw so you can visualize it in your own head. That is nice, but you still have to follow it with a subjective opinion.

What the hell, none of this trailer and 1/2 level demo crap means anything anyways. You truly have to play the finish game, or at least observe a collection of opinions and reviews of the final game, to know or have an idea of how good it is.

We get way to hung up on this stuff. All you can tell is if the graphics are decent. For a Wii game, Galaxy looks fabulous. If you give credit for style, I'd say Galaxy just looks impressive period.

The Bee Suit is cool, but I really do want them to bring back classic suits. The raccoon and tanooki would be unnecessary with the Bee Suit, but Hammer Mario and Frog Mario need to be in there.

Yeah the multi is great on this, it is almost like having Tails in Sonic 2. Just enough that someone sitting around can "help" without doing any real harm, and there might even be more difficult areas for co-op.

This game is a must buy now that I have seen it in action.

Oh yeah don't forget "this game sux u can't even see Mario's pores!11!!1!!!"

Nintendo totally sold their fans out at this years press conference, but Super Mario Galaxy looks and sounds as strong as ever. Definitely on the top of my list for the the holidays.

I love Super Mario 64 style gameplay.
I love crazy gravitational platformer elements.
I love good old fashion powerups.

Got me considering a PSWii combo even more, although I can't help but think that this, also, could've been done on the gamecube.

P.S. I tried to do a text heart but the page must've thought it HTML... woops

Boo Mario's moustache is the best thing ever. The moustache jokes in recent Nintendo games (Super Mario 64 DS, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Super Paper Mario) are getting better every year! Long live moustache jokes!

I'm personally all for it. If my money helps with all the cosmetic surgery Mario must be getting, I think it's a worthy cause.

A lot of the "hardcore" gaming community, even Nintendo fanboys are overlooking this game.

I predict that it will be right up there with Halo 3 and GTA4 in sales, and will bring even more people into Wii.

I can't wait for this game, and I couldn't care less about SSBB.

After six months of non-activity, I gave my Wii up for a wireless 360 adapter. What sold me on the trade was Nintendo's increasing disenfrachisement of the industry's key demographic.

Marketing to soccer moms, wives, old people, and kids at heart is a good, profitable idea. But, after a press conference filled with 90% mass-consumer fluff, I just couldn't let that system sit, dust-covered, connected to my old dilapidated spare TV. The 360 Wireless adpater Wii trade was the best I've ever made at GameStop.

Galaxies does look good and will satisfy the core demographic. Let's face it; Nintendo makes games that are simply some of the most fun and entertaining out there. I'll love playing Galaxies on my Dad's Wii when I visit the family. But I'd rather actually use a system day-in/day-out, as I do with my PS3 and 360.

WOOHOO at last!!! I'm tired of playing gears and pwning on CoD3 Xbox live!! Serously, I start drifting off to sleep when I play my 360 these days. I have more fun chatting to people over xbox live than actually playing them. I have no equal on CoD3. I am so used to the graphx that it dnt impress me anymore. I mean if graphx excite people, do they get an even bigger kick when they look at reality all around them? Just walk around outside and look around, WOW, awesome!!! Everything looks so real, wait, it is real. Screw that crap, I'm sick of hardcore games cos they put me to sleep, especially after work. I dont even consider gears of war hardcore. I mean I can complete that game in less than 6 hours. Mario Galaxy and metroid prime, in my opinion are way more hardcore than any clone FPS, racer or any other PC clone style game on my 360. What looks cool to teenage boys dont look cool to me anymore, I'm 26 now and blood and violence kind of gets old when u start to REALLY mature. Tired of same old crap, FPS clones and racer clones. Same crap different look. Need more fun nintendo games out there to counter all these grphx clones I see everywhere on my 360
