Totally and completely inaccurate. Not to mention lame and a shoddy showing of "journalism".

All this "news" means is that Gamestop is not going to be taking preorders on the Gamecube version. Gamestop is NOT a beacon of news. If "Gamestop sources" were correct a month ago, we would have just all ponied up fifty bucks worth of trade in properties for our Wii reservation.

Multiple other retailers are still showing the product as available.

Fanboy and Joystiq, double check your sources and sit on a story before you run with it. You'd think that you would have learned your lesson from the "OMG MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENT AT MIDNIGHT" fiasco not long ago.

Ay, ay, ay. What a wild ride. Crazy Joystiq...

I was one of the people posting how mad I was, etc., but only if the Wii version didn't have an option to turn "mirror mode" off. If it does, I'll get the Wii version. If not, I'll get the GameCube version. That's what my purchasing decision is based on now...

Also, most of the people complaining are not TROLLS (AtomskKing, #82), but we are just fans, venting frustration at what we thought was true, but now know that

THIS ARTICLE IS 100% FALSE

Just wanted to stress that once more for anyone passing through...

Fuck you, Joystiq. Next time try carefully looking into a story before you post it. Or maybe that messy journalism stuff is just too complicated for you.

I'm pretty glad its coming out for the Gamecube, what if I don't get the Wii like in 5 weeks after launch??It's going to be hard waiting.
I just wish it came out as the same time as the Wii version. It is a trick that will get Nintendo more money, but do something for the gamers!

Man Joystiq you guys are falling apart. Anyways I just got back from Gamestop and of course Zelda is STILL IN THE COMPUTER. UNLIKE WHAT YOUR UPDATE SAYS THE GAME WAS NEVER REMOVED COMPLETELY FROM THE COMPUTER. As I posted in the comments earlier, it was removed from the LIST OF RESERVABLE GAMES because no more reserves are being taken on it by Gamestop/EB.

For any idiot Gamestop employees that are still saying it was removed from the computer completely: It appears in EVERY search venue possible in the system EXCEPT for the list of reservable games. How are you people employed?

I don't understand how this site continues to post "news" and "updates" to said "news" without even trying to research it.

It would be nice if they would just cross out the original text cause its basis is clearly false now, and the update basically negates everything the original said, making reading the original article useless and a waste of time to all.

Anyway, yeah i guess "all signs point to this as a done deal.", give me a break, without official confirmation of any sort, saying something like that will always be ridiculous, i am dissapointed Joystiq.

HA, I'm glad I reserved the wii version. My friend is going to be pissed though. He reserved Zelda last March, 1 year and 7 months ago, and he doesn't plan on getting a wii. Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a more jerk move than that from Nintendo.

Why is everyone taking this so critically? Intelligent readers should always take what they read, whether it be CNN, MSNBC.. or a BLOG, with a certain level of skepticism. I am ashamed, to say the least, to see fellow readers ruthlessly attack a site that does their best to support their reader's interests. Mature yourselves and give Joystiq a break. Please?

Why should Joystiq be given a break (though I guess they could use a news break) when they have an article up that they must know by now is composed of pure failure?

Man you knew this was gonna happen. Why are you surprised?

They didn't keep making N64 games once the Gamecube came out, did they?
The Wii represents a break from the way gaming was formerly played & that includes the Gamecube with its traditional controller.

I never expected GC Zelda. It woulda been nice to have but I *never* thought it would ever come about.
They've done this every generation. You knew this.

I guess the only sticking point was that they shouldn'ta announced that the GC version was ever gonna materialize. But you knew this. C'mon! Quit acting surprised!

Besides Wii Zelda is gonna be better anyway. I was gonna actually buy both for some reason (craziness I know) but I'm sort of glad now. Saves me some money.

Once people play Wii Zelda no one will really care that GC Zelda was a carrot in front of the carthorse.

Super Paper Mario ain't going on GC neither.
As they often do with big titles on gen-jumps. They often move to the new system.
Didn't you know that Super Mario 64 was originally designed for the SNES?

I love my Gamecube but face it; it's retired.
It's a new age. It's Wii's time to shine now.

I guess the only reason they kept this GC Zelda biz up was not to scare off those people who didn't trust the Wii. I figure they think that worry is no longer valid.
But let's be for real. You knew GC Zelda was just a desert oasis mirage all along.

Because this is a BLOG about video games. So a handful of people went a few hours thinking that they wouldn't be able to play the newest installation of Zelda on their consoles, so what? These writers are gamers just like you and I. Had you been informed of the same thing I can almost guarantee that you would have the same reaction. We deal with these issues as one. Would your friend be dead to you if he or she alleged the same story? I just don't get it.

Oops jumped the gun, Joystiq folks. Panic attack. It's still coming out "officially".

Yawn. Guys need to calm down. Gamecube's time is over. You can't expect them to concentrate on GC with Wii around the corner. It makes no sense. Only with mass market success do you get that runover between systems like NES titles in the SNES days & PS1/PS2 titles in the PS2/PS3 days.

Fickle fickle fans. Tsk tsk.
Let Wii 'Noah's flood' this old mentality out of gaming & bring in a new order.

To quote the late great Owen Hart:
"Enough is Enough and It's Time for a Change!"

Patiently awaiting the advent of Wii with *Wii* Zelda,

I have to say that I'm honestly dumbfounded by so many of the commenters and disappointed with Joystiq. To the commenters I have in mind, why didn't you bother to take the post with a grain of salt and actually investigate as to whether this was true, rather than slamming Nintendo for something they didn't do at all? Second, why would you want to buy Zelda for the GC, when you could wait as it's been optimized for the Wii, the way that it's now meant to be played? Of course, it was originally designed with the GC in mind, but does that mean that the GC version will offer a better experience? Hardly. Furthermore, to those who originally bought a GC for Zelda, I never really understood the idea of buying a console for a single game, let alone a Nintendo console. I personally purchased a GC years to enjoy the multitude of gems that would be and now have already been released for the system.

To Joystiq(or maybe just Alex), it seems that you've stirred up a lot of trouble with an article that wasn't checked through thoroughly enough. I know that this is a blog, but I think being paid writers entails some responsibility.

what's lame they're forcing you to buy a Wii for a game that's basically a freaking port. Nintendo knows the Wii doesn't have any killer apps, so they got desperate.

Well, this false alarm was widely reported, so there's no call for you kiddies attacking Joystiq so viciously over it, 99% of the time their info is as accurate as possible for an online dynamic news source.

That said, Joystiq, since this story upset so many folks, maybe a new post rather than just an update that readers have to dig for?

I presume that half the people on here dont bother to read the full story, they see Zelda cancelled and immediately assume that its gone forever. Will you people read the full story first. It clearly states "Some Gamestop and EB Games employees say the reason the game is no longer in their computer system or online is that pre-orders have been maxed out. Apparenly once the company stops taking pre-orders, they remove the game from their computer system entirely." so stop your whinging, u will still be able to get TP on your gamecube. Why dont save your money for the wii anyway, surely thats a better idea in the long run since the next zelda will almost definately not be appearing on the ailing cube of goodness anyway.

To 54. - aka Guy with the Hat - that guy might own Nintendo stock, and I know I do - because you're simply 100% incorrect. Go to Yahoo! Finance and look up NTDOY.PK, or Freerealtime.com and look up NTDOY (it will work without the PK), note that its stock price is PUBLICLY AVAILABLE (not a trait of private companies), get a Schwab account or eTrade or something, buy a share to prove yourself wrong, and check facts the next time you decide to post.

I agree with #40. It is hard to believe website articles sometimes. Hopefully (and I think so) TP will come out for the GC. Because if Nintendo does not, I will kill them so badly. This decision is going to screw them over so badly. Plus, I was not planning to spend $300 dollars on a Wii and TP for the Wii. It just does not seem logical to spend that much money right now. Fuck Nintendo. I'm gonna wait until the supposed to release date for TP for GC comes out. If not, I will then make my decision with Wii. Probably will never buy the Wii at all.

It's all fine and friggin dandy saying "Just buy a Wii", but the thing is that some people aren't blessed with money to just throw about when they feel like it. LoZ:TP is the only game that looks promising on the Wii, and some people don't want to buy a Wii just for Zelda. Thats why they budgeted for the GC release, some people can't be "loyal fans", becuase (plain and simple) they can't afford it.
