PS3 broken straight out of the box
Punch Jump received their 20 GB Playstation 3 only to discover it has a malfunctioning disc feeder. The sound that the Playstation 3 makes while attempting with absolute futility to consume the disc is what really makes this video pop. No launch is without its batch of faulty systems, Nintendo is currently dealing with fatal error 110213 on the Wii. After attempting every troubleshooting trick Sony said they would replace the defective unit. No word yet from Punch Jump the timeframe they were quoted it taking to receive a replacement unit. With any luck the guys over at Punch Jump will get their replacement before the New Year.

Close, it was a PS3 delight (apparently) when everyone of us pointed out its actually a BAD thing to have slot loaders due to reasons such as this.
Also, I POSTED the link to that video in that thread (or another PS3 V 360 one) about 2 days ago and no-one mentioned it. Glad it got an official airing it needs to be shown.

Why did Sony betray me!?!

new hotness: failure to accept disk

The manual clearly tells you not to move the console while on and with a disk in it. That is what we know as user error.

You wanna talk about someone losing their temper? I eventually had to leave because I began fearing for my own life. He still had the additional warranty, but you Sony folk tend to get a little touchy about your consoles. (Want proof? the PS3 launch has been the only console launch I've seen in my almost 4 decades of gaming, where people have actually gotten mugged or shot simply waiting to buy a one.)
Sony - you helped invent the optical disc medium, and it seems all your systems hate them for some reason.

The Wii disc loader takes the disc at about that far in if not even less so the positioning looks fine.

Sony will have its fair share of issues once they actually have units in circulation. as of now there are fairly low amounts of ps3s actually being used whereas the number of firmware issues + wrist straps are EXTREMELY minimal on Nintendo's part considering the number of consoles sold. Nowhere near the fiasco of the ring of death on the 360

Of course there's going to be errors. There's errors with every system all the time. They're always blown out of proportion at system launch. Ahh well... I'll wait until a game comes out that I want :)
