i think it would be intelligent if sony built in some sort of "Survivor" element into the game, meaning, if someone is being a dick, the other players can vote and kick him out of the game.

Sony has up-ended the tea table (as Miyamato would put it) And opened up something that brings people together, something quaint, original, and something that works (hopefully)

All bets for this generation are now off (unless Nintendo unveils something equally killer in terms of Online this week)

Now the big question: Will a $600 system sell to the kind of market they're targeting with this casual-gamer-grabbing gold?

Like I said in another thread, Nintendo better bring it for Miyamoto's keynote, otherwise Sony will upstage them for the first time since E3 2005.

Dont fool yourself - later this month when there are negative stories related to sony launch in Europe, ti will just go back to the negative for sony once again...

This is temporary positiveness for people already sold on the ps3 - nothing more, nothing less.

as a wii owner and lifelong nintendo fan, if this game were to come out anytime soon, i'd just as soon ebay my wii to get this game and a ps3.

combined with home, and the fact that sony is actually putting in a somewhat robust online system (unlike nintendo thusfar and i'm anxiously afraid about what they're going to do with SSBB online multiplayer)

this looks pretty cool.. original.. no.. no, this isn't an original concept. I believe in the snes and genesis days.. there were platformers like this.. check, you can pick up metal slug and see that ;p.

Hopefully this is just a beta test.. because if this is all you do.. then it's pretty much eye candy

@59

Wow... did you even watch the same video I did? Metal Slug is nothing like this. And the game seems to be far from just eye candy... again, I'm not even sure what video you watched.

This game does look cool.

It reminds me of the early saturn games(the bug one and the clockwork soldier one) with much better graphics. The graphics are sharp and the world seems to eb very interactive. The gameplay reminds me of The Lost Vikings. Definitely much more appealing than Viva Pinata and more interesting than home.

Nice looking game, not surprising though, the developer of the game is composed of many talented people: http://www.mediamolecule.com/ They're the ones who also did Rag Doll Kung-Fu. Good Stuff.. :)

Many of them worked with Molyneux at Bullfrog and Lionhead too it seems, their website lists Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, Syndicate, Fable, Theme Park, The Movies, Magic Carpet as games they've worked on
(and of course Rag Doll Kung Fu among others).
Not a bad pedigree...

As someone who was actually at the the keynote (and scored multiple soccer goals of winning team B) this game looks great.

Wow. Was waiting for the new Paper Mario, but this blows me away. This game will sell PS3s, once all the bitching subsides....and there drop the console price.

Original, innovative, and loaded with personality... now that's what I want to see on the Playstation 3! Maybe there's hope for the old meat grill yet!

Sony's motto should be "Coming soon" :-P

I am a co-op lover, a Sony hater, and the kind of guy that likes these kinds of games that can be fun together as a group. If it is multiplayer online only, then this has been a waste of my time. I love online, but I love family and real interaction more.

Go Xbox Live! Go Sony Home! I'll see my PS3 after I see it all set free. For now, I'll stick to my Def Jam: Icon and just let it be.*insert walk it out move here*

This game looks absolutely amazing. You really have to see it in motion to appreciate it's charm. The GDC video at Gamespot is up if anyone hasn't seen this yet.

I always wondered if I was an Xbox fanboy. Now I know I'm not. I have genuinely not been interested in anything Sony has put out in the last 3 years. But this game... Ohh... I am green with envy over this game! Way to go Sony! And shame on all the Microsoft developers for not coming up with this idea sooner. The art direction is just freaking amazing!

I couldn't care less for the Metal Gear and Final Fantasy franchises but this...

ok.. i'll admit i;ve been laughing at sony alot lately.. but that game looks awesome.. first decent game i've seen for the PS3.

I love the gameplay, love the design.. it almost looks like a stop motion animated short film... and having the music by the Go! Team shows that they must be on the right track..

..shame its on the PS3 where i can't play it... sigh...

Great concept and execution. On paper we have a winnar - possibly. The problem? People in Europe at least continue to buy the staples of gaming past: sequels, sports, realism. Loco Roco is another example of a great Sony creation lost among the wider public consciousness. Yes it'll draw some of the more hardcore gamers to the console. But for the rest of us - GTA-whatever is the big thing...

AWESOME.

THIS is the first thing to ever get me interested in a ps3. I always said ZOE3 would be the game to make me buy one. But this..... this is enough. There is only one factor I must know before I decide that when this hits, I'll buy a ps3 with it, and thats if I can play 4 players in the same room.
Somehow, I'm thinking no. How would the screen follow everyone? unless its always pulled out.... Hopefully.
Playing online is a good option, but playing with friends in the same room, is the best option.
If it offers that, I am completely sold.

Prior to this game, I felt the ps3 was one of the worst systems ever. I still do, but at least it has one killer game on it.

I agree with everyone saying this is the first interesting looking game for the PS3. Not sure if I'll ever buy one though.

For those wondering if you can play 4 in the same room:
It looks like you can. When the players get far away from each other the screen zooms out to keep all in the frame. Does anyone else see this or am I hallucinating?

Anyone notice that the main character, the burlap guy with the zipper, is just like the burlap guy in the short film "9" and the upcoming movie? They'll both be out at the same time and I wonder if people will think they're trying to capitalize on each other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9_%28film%29

I'm not much of a fan of sony myself, and I love my wii. This game looks awesome, it's a shame I won't be able to play it. Sony ends up with generic title after generic title, and once and a while someone puts out an interesting and innovative title for one of their systems. Loco Roco, Katamari Damaci, and this, now. It's a pity they'll never see a system that children play, because these few games are magical, and I wish I had such experiences when I was a child.
