Halo animated series squashed, transcription error to blame

Bungie and Peter Jackson plan to work together on a Halo animated series once Halo 3 is done, revealed Microsoft Games Studios' Shane Kim in an interview with GameSpy. When asked what the developer is working on after Halo 3, Kim replied that "they have the collaboration with Peter Jackson on the animated series."

Update:

We regret to inform you that the Halo animated series which briefly flitted about in your imagination solely came about due to a transcription error. We spoke to GameSpy's editorial director, John Keefer, and confirmed that Shane Kim only labeled the upcoming project as an "interactive" series. GameSpy "regrets the error" and has now appended an editorial note to the article.

Wow. They went from a 200+ million dollar Hollywood movie, with Jackson producing, emo director, .. all the way to ... some lame cartoon for saturday morning, cereal eating kiddies.

ever consider the slight chance that since the halo universe revolves around the army that this cartoon would be a bit more adult orientated, who says animation is bad? they probably chose animation for a few reasons, its easy and cheap to get any type of effect you want, aliens are easier to draw than to put into a live action scene, and this way they don't have to put any famous or soon to be famous faces on the characters, they can portray every character as they really want and not use makeup on actors

So, was the "animated" a typo and they corrected it?

If it is animated and CG and looks anything like any of the trailers (Halo Wars or the comercial from Decemeber), then this is a good thing.

I know this sounds silly, but I think this could be cool. Something animated using the style of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex that follows a team of NCIS type criminal investigators who go around solving mysteries for the fleet. Throw in some cross-cultural Human/Covenant romance and a helping of RvB humor and you have yourself a possibly entertaining TV show. Also, this should definitely not star Master Chief. Maybe he could be in the occasional cameo, but not much more. The HALO universe is vast.

I would assume it would be adult oriented as I believe the games are rated M. It would be in bad taste to make a kiddy cartoon out of it. Kind of like making a kiddy cartoon out of a cigarette spokesman. Of course this is if you consider people who live for Anime adults. Ballooning to 400 lbs at the age of 28, living in your moms basement and masterbating to lame Asian cartoon characters seem a little "stunted" to me.
