We've been big supporters of Assassin's Creed throughout its development. Not only because it looks fantastic, but because the advertising for the game has been incredible and we are very easily swayed. Thankfully though, it seems our faith has not been misplaced: The game walked away with a combined score of 37/40 from the notorious reviewers at Famitsu. (You can see a tiny scan right here.)
As a point of reference, 37 is one point lower than Super Mario Galaxy and the same as Halo 3 , so it seems that Ubisoft's marketers can now add "critically acclaimed" to Assassin's Creed ads. ... As if they needed to be more compelling.

Who the hell still takes Famitsu's review scores seriously? If it's hyped, it gets a good score.

From the demo I played in gamestop I find it hard to believe SMG is worthy of a 38.

the "demo" they have at gamestop is actually the full game (at least here where i live) played it and didnt like it that much at all... its like sunshine with motion controls minus the stupid hose... sorry but hopping from planet to planet feeding stupid stars spikey jellybeans is not fun... id give it at MOST 30/40 but not 38.

That would basically make it like Mario64. The thing that hurt Sunshine was mostly the stuff you had to do with the waterpack, like cleaning up pollution.
So if you didn't like Sunshine and you don't like Galaxy, it's safe to say you didn't like 64, either
So...why would you expect to like Galaxy in the first place?
That would be like me expecting to like Halo 3.

After what they gave Lair, I'm gonna wait on other reviews.

I bet that if the game was japanese it would walk out with 39.

@SAMFISH - Where did you get that awesome peach icon, and where can I find the 'full' version of it?? Thanks!

Just as I always suspected, Super Mario Galaxy is 102.7% of the game as Halo 3 or Assassin's Creed!

Meh, after that near perfect score for Halo 3 I dunno if I can trust their reviews :p *flame suit on*

Famitsu 360 reviewed it, not Famitsu.

This game looks better and better. The concept itself is amazingly original.

I want this game to be good. I really, reallllllllly do. EGM previewed it, and said it had a ton of room to improve, so I'm inclined to listen to them over Famitsu, but really, in the end, I'll probably buy this game on pure speculation alone.

Oh and I own every other mario game ever made. Not going to stop now, even if Galaxy does seem like Sunshine 2.0 instead of being more akin to Mario 64.

Well I sure hope they sanitized the controls, cuz the way they were describing it @E3 time they were similar to the old TOMB RAIDER controls-an absolute fucking mess. I have faith in the devs tho-the entire industry is still reeling from the LAIR debacle.
