GDC08: Saw game to be developed by Zombie

This would be their first now-gen game, but we guess everybody's got to start somewhere. Hopefully all questions will be answered when the game's released in October 2009.

Silly Sauce @ Feb 21st 2008 4:06PM
Oh man is Jack Thompson gonna be all over this one...
motang @ Feb 21st 2008 4:08PM
Yep, I see the headlines already! So if he does, I wonder if he would go after movies like that also then??
baby sea tuna @ Feb 21st 2008 4:15PM
Gorenography is sooo 2006.
Chris @ Feb 21st 2008 4:21PM
something more disgusting than the movie
a game based on a (digusting) movie
NATO_Duke @ Feb 21st 2008 4:31PM
This cannot go well. Aweful premise.
Hyams @ Feb 21st 2008 4:35PM
It should totally be made into a set of mini-games for the Wii.
"Use the Wiimote to carve open the paralysed stranger to retrieve the key!"

Saw: The game...playing it is pure torture
Shotgun Steve @ Feb 21st 2008 4:45PM
This is one game I actually wouldn't mind JT bashing.
ThornedVenom (Ludwig Defense Force) @ Feb 22nd 2008 1:53AM
Because you minded JT bashing Manhunt after knowing how awful the game itself was?
Mikezula @ Feb 21st 2008 5:17PM
Dear Brash Entertainment and Zombie,
Quit while you're ahead! I predict that this won't end well. I also predict that the media, the politicians, and even the general public will be on you with torches and pitch forks.
And I'd be gladly watching them, popcorn bag in hand. The idea of a "game" based around intentional, calculated human torture is too much.
PSN: KillaKornbread @ Feb 21st 2008 5:19PM
o lighten up guys! i like the Saw series. even though Jack Thompson WILL be all over it because it arguably WOULD be an actual murder simulator.....oh crap.....i see your point now.....
Mikezula @ Feb 21st 2008 5:24PM
Yep. If this game is what we all think it is, then it would fit the "murder sim" genre snugly.
I actually do watch the SAW movies, but more out of an annual tradition than actually REALLY wanting to watch it.
I would actually PAY $60 to keep this game away from my younger cousins.
DangerMouse @ Feb 21st 2008 5:20PM
Anyone else smell a pile of 60 dollar dog shit?
NeverSage @ Feb 21st 2008 5:35PM
Yes. Yes I do.
Drago Dracini @ Feb 21st 2008 5:56PM
OMG YOU SMELL IT TOO!?! o.o
Drago Dracini @ Feb 21st 2008 5:56PM
I feel that gorenography should be ended rawr. Jack Thompson gwar rawr. narf.
I don't really see why a company would make this game. First, it's a movie game. Second, what are you going to do? Though I do admit, I'm curious how the game will work. if the ESRB doesn't slap an AO rating on it.
konajinx @ Feb 21st 2008 6:17PM
I predict this game will be shit, garnering medicore reviews like "Manhunt 2." It's a game based on a movie, which usually fails 9 times out of 10 given past track records of such things, and any hype generated by it will undoubtedly fall on mere speculation than the final product.
refinedsugar @ Feb 21st 2008 8:49PM
-- and this just in, who cares!?
Zoidberg Jesus (a.k.a. Jebo) @ Feb 21st 2008 10:06PM
The switch from America's Army to a game about torturing people should not be that complex. Now, let’s stop those 9/11s!
Phillip @ Feb 22nd 2008 1:39AM
I don't know where those facts came from, but Zombie does not _make_ America's Army. They have done work for/on it (not sure of the exact details), but the game is made by the "America's Army" team in Emeryville, CA.
ThornedVenom (Ludwig Defense Force) @ Feb 22nd 2008 1:54AM
JIGSAW NEEDS YOU FOR THE ARMY
