Sign-ups begin for the Battlefield Heroes beta

This is one of those rare posts that we, in the industry, like to call "easy." When we tell you that sign-ups for the Battlefield Heroes beta are now open, the odds are that you've already beat cheeks down to the "Read" link. And that's just fine with us, because it means we can relax our brain muscle, confident in the fact that only us and the spam spiders are reading the text.
It also means we can use the rest of this space to cop to something we otherwise wouldn't with millions of prying eyes around. ... We've completely turned the corner on Uwe Boll. He's out of his mind, he'll fight anyone and he's possibly the greatest self-promoter alive. We love him. And if you're a theater owner who won't show Postal, we think you're a jerk. There, we said it. ... OK, well, good luck with the beta thing, not that you're here any more.

I am all over this! Can't wait to waste away my entire summer on this sure-to-be-awesome game.
chez @ May 20th 2008 10:16AM
Nahhh, not when I've still got them Medic weapons to unlock. NO CHEATS.
tc @ May 20th 2008 10:59AM
uwe boll is a psycho, i can't embrace psychopothy!
gb @ May 20th 2008 11:43AM
you can't spell psychopathy

tc @ May 20th 2008 11:52AM
ow
my pride!
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ May 20th 2008 3:33PM
omg. i actually laughed out loud on that one. that is burn of the day material right there!
JaKa (Because 666 gives a wrong impression!) @ May 20th 2008 11:22AM
Signed up.
And speaking of Uwe, I just read his interview and he does make some valid points.A lot of reviewers are biased and criticise him instead of his movies just because of how crap AitD and HotD were.
To be honest, was BloodRayne(25M) really worse then those high-budget movies like Jumper(85M),Electra(50M) or Catwoman(100M)?
I know I'll just get branded as an Uwe-lover but try looking at it from a different perspective, instead of hating him just to jump on the bandwagon.
PS: And he's right about Michael Bay.Considering how much budget he gets, his movies DO suck.
AwesomeTown @ May 20th 2008 11:40AM
You're right. With a big budget Uwe could get better actors and better writers, and the movies might be good. Seriously.
Still debating on the Beta though.
Huey2k2 @ May 20th 2008 12:14PM
No, just no.
I would like to point out that not all of Uwe's movies are "low budget" Look at the Dungeon Siege movie.
Budget:
$60Million
Notable Actors:
Jason Statham
Ron Perlman
Ray Liotta
Burt Reynolds
Rating on Rotten Tomatoes:
5%
I mean come on, it has Burt fucking Reynolds. Face facts, Uwe Boll is just a terrible director. I am not defending movies like Jumper or Electra and all the other crap that Hollywood tries to shove down our throats. But seriously, don't even try to suggest that Uwe Boll has an ounce of directing talent.
JaKa (Because 666 gives a wrong impression!) @ May 20th 2008 12:33PM
You're being too sceptical.Postal got 30% on RT and the budget. That's already lot better than a big majority of much more expensive movies.
JaKa (Because 666 gives a wrong impression!) @ May 20th 2008 12:38PM
Shit, hate those typos.
"...and the budged WAS ONLY 10M."
sorensilk @ May 20th 2008 12:16PM
Mwahaha, I saw this posted somewhere else yesterday and already signed up. Hehehehe.
Fatass of Sarcasmness @ May 20th 2008 2:57PM
"I saw this posted somewhere else"
Wait, what?
Before Joystiq?
No. I mean, - no.
Stop lying.
sorensilk @ May 20th 2008 3:04PM
It's OK, it was on Joystiq's sister site:

GenBanks @ May 20th 2008 12:20PM
I hope I got on, I'm sure everyone on the internet knows about this by now, so it'll be tough.
Philip (Fernando Rocker Defence Force) @ May 20th 2008 3:23PM
Is the site down? Or is it just me?
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ May 20th 2008 3:45PM
i dont think its down, its just moving really slow. every other site i go to is at normal speed, so ive deduced that their servers are getting slammed.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ May 20th 2008 3:35PM
the site is moving super slow. im guessing its a mad rush to get in. well im signing up right now, hopefully i get in. i never get picked for this kind of stuff though :-(
i think the SkyFire beta is the only one ive actually gotten into.
Phil @ May 20th 2008 4:45PM
BF games almost always get a mad rush for the beta.
What SUCKS is that there's so much badmouthing about the series that they don't just ignore it and play the damned game. Now the drama going on with Bad Company, I have no comment on.
But the reasons 2142 didn't take off is a bunch of crap. People going on about spyware and some crap about an invasion of privacy and some shit... Oh, and the in game advertising that was only on, like, 2 or 3 of the 10 or 12 maps.
Yeah, people will bitch about anything if they can... The whole ripping off TF2 is a prime example of that.
And it's not like Valve cares either.
Wilson Martinez @ May 20th 2008 4:42PM
I would love to be a beta tester for this game. Looks amazing and i'm a big fan of Battlefield 2 as it is.
Thank you,
Wilson Martinez
Ethell @ Jul 21st 2008 5:04PM

Phil @ May 20th 2008 4:43PM
And I'm signed up.
*crosses fingers hoping to get in*
On the note of Uwe Boll, I'm proud to say not a single theater in my state is showing that piece of shit he calls a movie.
mundox @ May 20th 2008 6:25PM
Who cares if it is a rip of, it's FREE.
Alex S. @ May 22nd 2008 10:21AM
Is there some kind of conspiracy going on where we aren't allowed to talk about how this game is blatantly ripping off TF2's visual style?
Haggard @ May 20th 2008 10:19AM
Well, I think the conspiracy comes down to the fact that they both started development around the same time. It is a little too coincidental, though.
FOXHOUND @ May 20th 2008 10:20AM
Though it's a trivial subject, I'm not even sure which one was truly first... hopefully the game's just as fun as TF2.
Fox318 @ May 20th 2008 10:20AM
EA has two games out with TF2-like style. They saw the success of tf2 and copied it. Thats how EA works.
Why create when you can copy?
Christopher Grant @ May 20th 2008 10:48AM
#1: Does it really matter?
#2: They said it was in development before TF2's style was evident.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 20th 2008 10:23AM
I'm sure everyone at Pixar is bitching about TF2's ripoff of their style, grow up, people.
Damn gamers piss me off sometimes.
Martin @ May 20th 2008 10:39AM
Your mom
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 20th 2008 10:42AM

..in bed!
chez @ May 20th 2008 11:30AM
Yea, and TBH I'd rather play a game made by Valve than... EA is it?
Shabran @ May 20th 2008 11:46AM
What does it mtter if its ripped off or not
shhheeeessshhhhh
if its a good game then its good if not its not
