Maybe this 'Rock Revolution' game footage will resonate with all the "But guys, Konami did all this rhythm game stuff first with DJ Drum Freak Revolution" posters we always see here at Joystiq: While Konami introduced the world to the rhythm gaming genre, it's looking like they can't make a game to compete with where Guitar Hero and Rock Band have taken it.

have to admit i'm one of those people, and yeah they did screw the pooch on this. it looks like they're trying to rush the game out; which is never a good thing by itself. But the developers have never done anything near a AAA title, let alone anything in the rhythm/music game genre.

They need to cut their losses with this asap because it's not helping them any. Having a lawsuit in process and then getting your own competing product out is just bad tactics. There's still 3 other lines in Bemani that they can try in the US: Beatmania (try harder though), Pop'n Music, and now Jubeat (arcade only for now though).

It seems everyone and their Grandma are doing Music games this Gen,I'm looking foward to Capcom Super Music Group Turbo HD REMIX Charged: World tour of absolute Destiny ALPHA 2 (Not to be confused with Super Music Group Turbo HD REMIX Charged:ALPHA).

I'm betting the problem was that in a theater setting like that, the lag was way off from what she was used to. Not that this is an excuse, they should have planned better. But I doubt that it was an issue of her generally sucking at the game.

The drummer didn't do a terrible job of keeping up with the drums so it might just have been she was crap.

If you watch the guitar indicators, you can see that she was consistently hitting the wrong buttons--#5 instead of #4, for instance. She did hit the left two buttons more consistently, but it definitely looked like she hadn't practiced. Not the first time I've seen an ill-prepared demo-er bomb, but maybe she was filling in for someone at the last moment.

This is why Pre-show tests exist.

To me it looked like the instrument was either broken or wasn’t connected properly, if she sucked at the game then she would at least hit more notes. That or she is really bad.

The guy on the drums wasn't doing too bad, so I'm guessing she really is that bad.

Well, to me it seemed like she was hitting the wrong notes. I mean you can see the buttons being pressed at the bottom. like a chord was up, but she was holding the orange button. but she kept messing up the same way... I think maybe she was just having trouble adjusting from the real instrument. I know If I've been playing real guitar, it throws me off on rock band a little bit.

The thing about the lag could be true as well, but what I was thinking... was she using a gibson wireless guitar from GH3? if so, those things are crappy! Mine has a problem with the buttons on the neck not working from time to time, due to the connections on the detachable neck.

You know, I thought the 5 pads + pedal was going to be cluttered for GHWT. But after seeing the 6 pads + pedal fiasco that is RR....wow that's ugly.

Especially considering by the looks of things the pedal is mapped to a specific "gem" on the chart instead of the bar that RB and GH use (which "feels" more natural considering where it's placed comparred to the pads)

They gain points for not having their own guitar, but that just makes the choice to have their own drum that much more fail.

She failed miserably because she took off the leather jacket ! Keeping it on would have assured massive sales for Rock Revolution. hahahaha

Sorry Konami, but it's just a little too late. Attempting to get into the market, with Rock Band and Guitar Hero so established, is suicide. Coincidentally, so was that press conference.

Looks terrible. I don't expect we'll be seeing a "Rock Revolution 2". Not only that, but I would think someone should have had the good sense to have pulled the plug on this project already.

Maybe it is PR genius! Now, we're all talking about a game that wouldn't get any attention otherwise... Also, by failing, she makes it look challenging.

Hey, Konami, 2005 called. They want their cover-band-infected songlist back. Seriously, the music game genre has moved on from covers to master tracks, time to play serious catch-up if you hope to stand a chance.

Do all these companies think they have to trot out some chick now? Just because Jade is hot and loves games doesn't mean every company has to throw a girl out there to impress us. Next time Konami either find a girl who actually plays games or forget it all together!
