Rumor: Rare 'accidentally' reveals Perfect Dark XBLA

The above image (used to promote the Banjo-Tooie premium theme for Xbox 360) was revealed via the Banjo-Kazooie forums. Notice anything? No, not the huge, red arrow. Look at what it's pointing at. What could that be?

Forum users are saying it's an icon for Perfect Dark on XBLA, though it could be anything, really. We should also mention that Rare does like messing with fans. Remember that Christmas card debacle? This could be another tease that goes ... nowhere. Also, how do we know that Rare isn't developing a game called "Person Stuck in White Room"? Hey, it could happen!

Regardless, we contacted Microsoft about the possibility of Perfect Dark on XBLA. The company's response: "We have nothing to announce at this time."

Man I would love a ported Perfect Dark. What killed it for me (and my friends) on the 64 was the crappy framerate in multiplayer.

They really need to make a Conker sequel. Its PERFECT!

Ok that would be frickin' sweet! But what else would be sweet would be if the really would release like Goldeneye 007 for XBLA. I know it got shot down, but do they know how much money that would produce? can we start some sort of petition to get that game out on XBLA??

Kokomadeta, you guys give me a laugh. sure, you might have loved games like goldeneye back in the day. they were incredible for their time. but i just recently played it on an n64 and i have to say the controls are incredibly frustrating. surely you're not saying that in 2009 you'd rather play goldeneye instead of Halo?

Rare made so many great games for the N64 that I would pay to have on the Playstation 3. I only have Banjo-Tooie on my N64 for some reason. I don't mind not having Nuts & Bolts... that one can stay 360 exclusive.

rare was acquired by microsoft. that's like a 360 only owner asking why guerrilla can't port killzone 2 to the 360.

Good. I can't believe people are clamoring for Goldeneye when there's PERFECT DARK to be had! I want Perfect Dark! I want a system that can properly handle the 16-player multiplayer! I want to play with multiplayer sims and the Laptop gun! I want to use the Cyclone again!

I'm sorry, but I own both Perfect Dark and Goldeneye on the 64 and I prefer Goldeneye.

It might just be pure nostalgia, since I played Goldeneye religiously with my friends...

I'm not saying one is better then the other, but I'd rather see Goldeneye on the XBLA.

4J Studios (the guys who ported both Banjo's to Arcade along with Oblivion and Overlord to the PS3) are working on an unnanounced N64 port to XBLA. Read, this one's true guys =D

Let's hope they bring this and Killer Instinct Gold to the XBLA. And only charge 800 points. And have online multiplayer. That is all.

Considering they had Goldeneye completed for XBLA but then couldn't release it, Perfect Dark is the obvious alternative. It didn't hit the mainstream quite as much, but it is arguably the better game.

I highly doubt they did this accidentally, it's Rare. They either did it to tease us or just to annoy us. But considering how well Banjo sold on the 360 and the hype for Tooie, I wouldn't be surprised if they did more of the games.

It'd be one game I wouldn't even bother downloading the trial version for, I'd just buy it instantly.
