Spotted on the US Patent and Trademark Office website recently were two suspicious trademarks filed by Bethesda Softworks, the folks behind the Elder Scrolls series and, most recently, Fallout 3. First, a trademark staking claim on the Fallout name for "entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program," hinting pretty heavily at the possibility of a Fallout-themed ... television program. Another filing secures the trademark for "motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world." We imagine you get the gist of that one, eh?
It looks as though Bethesda is thinking about the future of the Fallout IP and some interesting ways to expand upon it. With the possibility that the company has taken back the reins on a Fallout MMO, the future for Bethesda may hold a megaton more Fallout than we could have possibly imagined.

I think a post-apocalyptic show could totally work, especially on cable, where they don't need the huge numbers to stay on. I'm thinking something like a mashup of Battlestar, Firefly, LOST, and the walking dead comic book. I mean you show the many different ways people deal with this new world they're thrown into, and how the main character deals with life outside the vault. Oh and cool feral ghoul attacks. Oh man, those centaurs would be gross...

With good writing, actors, and productions, this could become my new favorite TV show. Do it. DO IT.

"motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."
Is this necessary? I mean, jeez!

Ah.. Bethesda.. First the atrocity of Fallout 3 and now TV and movies; they're really trying to drag this franchise through the mud aren't they?

Postapocalyptic TV/Film would be sweet, especially in the world of Fallout as it is very original and well thought out. Unlike some stupid post apocalyptic movies (Doomsday).

Didn't the show Jericho already fail? Might also be close to the now defunct show Jeremiah (although that's based on a deadly virus and not nukes).

Pardon me for not reading through all the posts, but I think that as long as they do it right, like what they did for rebooting Battlestar Galactica; relatable stories or stories with conflict that are done well, that just happen to occur in a retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic future. Someone might've thought of this before, but hopefully this will be positive reinforcement if Bethesda's people read this. Now all we need is Sci-Fi and Bethsoft to get together and get a crackin on something watchable!
