This makes me very happy- I loved portable ops! With this being the next MGS it's probably gonna be waay larger than Portable OPs!

Well rising is focusing on Raiden and getting his status up to the level of Snake's, so it's no suprise it plays differently, probably focuses more on his blade, techu style.

MGS4 was such a technical marvel...and now you want me to SERIOUSLY downgrade the enjoyment of my experience by putting it on a portable gaming system. Blah. I've purchased every Metal Gear game ever (save MG2 on Nintendo). Some even twice over. But this...this I will not get.

I suppose this is good news for you PSP fans. But I'm not happy as a fan and follower of the series.

I've been saying it ever since they revealed Metal Gear Solid Rising that it's going to be a FPS of some sort (remember how Kojima was seen meeting up with a bunch of American FPS companies a while ago to collaborate on a game or something? they had the news right on this website when it happened, but i forget the details now).

Now I haven't looked up anything at all on this game, so if anything's been revealed about the game then it's likely everything I'm saying is wrong. But seeing as Kojima met up with Western FPS developers a while ago and now he's stating that Rising will have "a completely different kind of action than what has appeared in the series so far", I'm starting to think that maybe it's going to be a First Person Shooter of some sort.

Of course, I'm probably completely wrong, but based on my limited knowledge this seems the most logical explanation to me.

Seeing how Raiden pretty much is a sword (and weird lightning power) user in MGS4 I'm going to lean towards it not being an FPS. My guess is more on a Ninja Gaiden style game of sorts. Or Devil May Cry, as others have indicated.

Looking forward to the Big Boss game, but not so much to the Raiden one... it just feels kinda out of place. Like many said before, it's gonna be a totally different beast. Only time will tell if this is a good or bad thing.

Anyway. MGS3 is still my all-time MGS fave so I'm really glad they're continuing the tale. And well, MGS: PO felt more of a spin-off with all that capturing and stuff, so I'm really thrilled the PSP is getting a full-Kojima-attention MG game :)

So basically what this means is that the true MGS experiance will still be on Playstation brands. I know someone said that alot of x360 owners own PSPs, it basically means that the Playstation brand is getting the true MGS experiance, I'm not saying that the spin-off MGS Rising isn't part of MGS, but fact of the matter is; is that without Snake as a playable character, it makes the game different really and not truly a part of it's tradition.

I'm glad that Raiden is getting some spot-light and it's only fair that Snake would pass the torch to Raiden. However; it still stands that if you want a traditional espinoige, you must own a Playstation brand console/handheld, or an old school Nintendo.

The real bad news here is that MGS5 will be released with worse graphics than MGS3 had and a poor control setup, both due to the PSP. This is 2 steps backward for the franchise and I think it sucks. I hope they at least also port it to PS2, like they did with the latest Ratchet and Jak PSP games.

Agreed. A PS2 port would make it at least passable. But nothing like the PS3 technical achievement from before. This seems clearly in the name of 'making some money' by working on a cheaper to develop system so they can subsidize for future projects.

That's fine by me. Just don't call it MGS5.

I have a question... which games are coming for which systems, and what are they? Every article that comes out mentions upcoming MGS games but doesn't say what system they are for.

I have a 360 but no PS3. I have zero interest in a game with 5 hours of cutscenes (I don't want to play movies, I want to play games), but if this article is saying that an upcoming 360 game will be more "action oriented", I might be interested...

Help?

Besides, this is the same little handheld that can power up a full GTA experience, hold 800 GT cars, and play Monster Hunter, a game I've had for ages and have yet to complete before I can get Freedom Unite.

Don't underestimate PSP.

You guys are right.

Having the sequel a game that pushed the PS3 to its limits clearly belongs on the PSP ;-)

From 1080p to 272p
From Blu-ray to UMD
From the big screen to the little screen

There are so many great reasons to be excited about this game that I might have just wet myself.

Its gonna be great!

Nope, the MGS experience is NOT coming to the 360. I had (very) high hopes for this when it was announced, but now it just seems like Kojima is mocking 360 gamers much like the Japanese mocked American gamers during the SNES days.Remember FF 4/2, anyone? They dumbed it down because they thought American gamers were TOO STUPID to handle the actual game. The same thing is happening here. This game will be little more than a hack-n-slash in the MGS universe.

Am I the only one thinking Rising might play a bit like zone of the enders? what with Raiden being all fast and fighting with swords and what not.

It's becoming painfully obvious that this game is "Ninja Gaiden Raiden Edition" and nothing else.

haha... I bet the game was called "Raiden Rising" and Microsoft paid them to put a Metal Gear Solid in front of it ;)

Sony fantards still trying to convince the world that MGSR isn't an MGS game and some PSP release is somehow the real MGS game.

I will let Kojima's own words on that:

"Metal Gear Rising will be the next-gen MGS game".

Notice even he calls it a Metal Gear Solid game and not only that is the next-generation of it. I know there is a lot of bitterness that MGS is on 360 now too but the desperate attempts to seperate this Metal Gear game from the others because you are butt hurt by the fact it's on the 360 is beyond pityful.

And yes I will be playing MGSR day one on my Xbox 360! Woooooooot!!!! I will even trade in my MGS4 PS3 copy/dust collector in order to buy it! Woooooooot!

Show me your raaaaageee droids!

this can't be wright as kojima had stated that mgs4 would be the last metal gear he was to ever make... only to had said that at that time the only other metal gear next to come out would only be by the mgs team and NOT kojima himself.!

Portable Ops wasnt as good as people make it out to be, it was just like a watered down version of MGS3 that didnt even compare to MGS1, but now that Kojimas working directly n Peace Walker, im pretty excited as i own a PSP! I dont have a ps3, so i am completely devastated about not playing MGS4 (i might try to rent a console) and when the news came that MGS was coming to Xbox, i pissed myself. But now it sounds like its not even a stealth game.

Poo.
