I agree with tmac, but I dont.

Here's to hoping that MS will still create the same core games when Natal comes out, but they're gonna look at it like Nintendo does. After every "million seller" casual game that comes out they're gonna say, "Well do we start up this new hardcore IP we were talking about or do we make another minigames comp, because we know it will sell like whirling durbish, all fist and elbows and shit."

They are a business... and were a dying breed.

I can only dream for it to go like that, nofriendo. MS will probably have different divisions, if they're smart. That way they can have teams concentrating on both hardcore and casual games.

I think what will happen in the future ultimately depends on sales. If Natal explodes out the gates like the Wii, then you know MS will get everyone working on new ideas and games for it and the regular controller, while still being supported, will be a little left of the spotlight.

need some better games for it to make me want it. but the biggest questions are how it will enhance the experience for the gaming's various genres or will it just cater to the minigames and nothing else.

I will when I get the money but at this point, if natel is coming to PC, I will build a gaming level computer for a few hundred more dollars than the elite and play on there. Not that the games dont look beautiful today but if this gen is going to last into 2015ish time frame, I want better hardware if I can afford it.

I'm thinking that they will have new Xbox 360/Natal bundles.
I'm also thinking that Natal will come with a pack-in game.

Maybe then Microsoft will tout that their pack-in game as "the best selling game" like Nintendo did with Wii Sports.

Well, that would also mean that Natal would have to sell like the Wii.
I'm not so sure about that just yet.

Very true. It's going to be a tough sell, especially to the gamers who went with a 360 instead of a Wii because they didn't want the motion control "gimmick".

That's the sweetest part of the irony for 360 gamers to me.

Then there's the group of 360 gamers that just inherently believes Natal will trounce Wii's motion offerrings.

In the words of Lee Corso: NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!

Most people have a combination of either a Wii/360 or a Wii/PS3. They have that because they wanted to play those fun Wii Sports games and use those new motion controls, but they also wanted to have the great online play, new graphics, and a standard controller, too.

I just don't see these things doing well for MS or Sony. How many people are really interested in having multiple motion sensing devices/peripherals? I have a feeling that people will say something like, "I already have a Wii" and just not bother with this.

MS and Sony should just focus on what they're doing right now with their respective consoles. Maybe incorporate it into the next console. They aren't going to steal the casual crowd away from Nintendo.

So logical. Just makes sense doesn't it? Not to the big wigs.

Too bad all they see is Nintendo swimming in money and they are just as greedy.

don't worry - Bill Gates has already said that it will work on the PC.

now we just need developers that will code for it on the PC.

Even if he didn't, it would work eventually - everything works eventually on the PC as long as somebody wants it (like the original Xbox controller, or the SIXAXIS/DS3, Wii Remote etc)

Maybe not this Generation :P

According to Terminator TSCC - April 19th 2011 is the date you should be worried about.
A date that many believe the next generation of consoles to be launched.

I am going to doubt Microsoft's commitment to this device until i see the playable games. Equally so for 3rd parties (as Wii as shown us how hesitant they are to remove from their traditional wares)

I think 3rd parties' commitment depends on what MS's commitment to this thing is. If MS actually appears to be giving it a real push, 3rd parties will probably support is since, for whatever reason, the western studios have a big, throbbing hard on when it comes to MS.
That said, given their antipathy for the Wii and motion controls at this point, I'd be genuinely surprised if they came up with anything even remotely revolutionary or 'game changing'.

I can see the Japanese studios going wild with Natal, since similar sort of things kind of exist already at arcades in Japan (certainly the mindset is there), but...there's no way the Japanese studios, outside of maybe Capcom, are going to touch Natal with a 10 foot pole

I've officially decided that I hate this generation due primarily to it's horrible focus on incremental upgrades to existing consoles. Lame.

Meh. The only time we really came close to seeing something like this on this scale was during the N64/PS1 days when you pretty much HAD to buy the PS1's dual analog controller, not to mention the Rumble Pack and N64 expansion pack.

But now we're talking about hard drive upgrades, controller improvements and add-ons, new interfaces and worst of all, post game release bug fixes ("Release now! Patch later!")
I'd mention the DS and PSP, too, but that's kinda the way it's always worked with portables, so it about it would be like barking at the moon or something.

I'm guessing they keep saying this because the price is going to be like the price of a new console.

They are probably going to charge $250 or so for this thing (not trying to start rumors just guessing) and market it as a new console experience.

I figure they'll do that, too. Probably give it a minor power boost, larger HDD and market it as a psuedo-new console is my guess.

I'm going home for lunch today myself. I had Burger King yesterday. two cheeseburgers. I probably should have only had one, but hell, I didn't eat breakfast yesterday and I was starving something fierce.
Ahhh! But last night! Last night I went grocery shopping, so I have lots of food at home! I'm going to head home and make myself a turkey sandwich and a bananna in about 10 minutes!

I really want to get this. But if it's $100 or so, it will be too expensive for what has potential to be just a gimmick. But if the portfolios of games is great then i may have to fork out the amount. I just hope it isn't a rip off.

I welcome this technology. But i fear the approach Microsoft is taking with this. They almost want to be the Wii with high def graphics. I really hope developers won't completely abandon the controller wholly. That would suck.

This is BAD for us hardcore gamers. I definately do NOT want to march around my living room like an idiot every time I play a game. If microsoft releases even ONE game that caters to the hardcore crowd that REQUIRES natal, im selling my xbox and getting a nice gaming pc.

FUCK natal. All it is is an excuse for microsoft to make more bullshit casual shovelwear games and go down the same road as nintendo.

Pretty stupid comment. Not as bad as claiming next gen starts when Sony it does, but stupid never the less.

I think MS knows in order to get this thing of off the ground it's going to fall on the wallets of the hardcore, thus this PR crap.

Is comparing this to a new console launch their way of saying it's going to cost me as much as a new console?

Also, I would hope they follow Nintendo, and release every unit with a Natal Sports type pack in. We will see I guess...
