With Activision already asking consumers to plunk down over $100 for the DJ Hero peripheral later this month, it's only fair that more games use it -- but only if those titles belong to the publisher. With that, GI.biz reports that "at least one independent UK games developer" is working with Activision's Freestyle Games on DJ Hero 2. Go on ... pretend you're in any way surprised.
Considering what Activision has done with the Guitar Hero franchise, it wouldn't exactly be a shock if DJ Hero 2, DJ Hero 3 and DJ Hero: Scratch the '80s all hit within a year of each other.

@Tom Kalinske: Scientists find new species of reptiles every year, and I'm sure if Activision had some creativity, they could make them into enem... oh, wait. I realize what I just said. Sorry, nevermind.

I can't act too surprised, I have to hold something back for DJ Hero: On Tour. And DJ Hero: Arcade. And probably DJ Hero: keychain dongle edition.

What purpose would a sequel serve? (for consumers, not money hungry Activision)
Why can't they just continue to support DJ Hero 1 with DLC for the next few years?
Do they already have ideas for a new turntable that will make DJ Hero 1's turntable irrelevant in a year?
In addition, doesn't Rock Band DLC cost less than Guitar Hero DLC? and if this is the case, why support a company that currently rips people off with it's DLC pricing?
As cool as DJ Hero might look, I will not support this product.
Please don't buy DJ Hero.

Except with DJ Hero, if you saw the setlist or read ANY of the previews, you'd know an immense amount of work is being put into making this an incredible game. Of course, everyone assumes because it's Activision it's the "same people who are ruining Guitar Hero". Well, lemme just step in and say that Neversoft (the actual DEVELOPERS, not the PUBLISHERS) has nothing to do with this game. Instead a company called FreeStyleGames, and they actually know what they're doing here. Several renowned DJ artists (Grandmaster Flash, Daft Punk, the late DJ AM, and more) were brought in to make sure this was a true DJ experience.
Boy, I sure do love when people generalize an entire game by the elements surrounding it rather than THE GAME ITSELF.

thank you for that post. people do the same with EA, then go play/buy burnout, orange box, battlefield bad company, dead space, etc. The publishers don't effect the quality of the game. Count me in as one of the chumps still buying it. Just hope they have dlc support lined up to milk my wallet some more
