Multiplatform games are rarely as scrutinized as this. However, Final Fantasy XIII's fall from PS3 exclusivity has certainly sparked countless fanboy battles that rage online and, unfortunately, in our own comments section.
Square Enix has recently released new images of the Xbox 360 version in action, and there are some noticeable differences, particularly when one looks at the Nomura-styled hairdos. We've donned the game a rather obscure nickname -- "The Reverse Ghostbusters" -- due to the visible disparity between the two versions. Regardless, it seems like a more-than-competent port -- a fact that the most vocal of you will likely ignore in the comments below.

First off I can't compare Images for some reason I put cursor over Ps3 or 360 nothing changes for me. The questions I have are this did they install all disks on to 360 I have seen this drastically improve games, and are they in 1080p on a tv that's 52in or bigger to take advantage of the 1080p upscale difference on the 360( the reason I ask this is that 1080p is a wide-screen resolution and only makes a difference on TV's that r 52in or larger). I never hear any reviewer talk about if these steps are in the consideration for comparing games, I highly doubt the are. I do know that the ps3 version cg cut scenes are in 1080p but the in game is still only 720p so there has to be a difference between the 2 if the 360 is in upscale mode. I will have to do my own side by side when the game comes out.

PS3 is better looking hands down from these screens, however I would like to see a comparison once the game is released.

It is a little warm in here, but this has to be one of the tamest flamewars I've ever seen. So many the hippy-love, "The 360 version does look worse but people will enjoy whichever version they buy," comments. So much rational reaction.
I like this internet. I think I'll keep it.

Is it just me, or are they using a lower quality feed on the 360 shots? It looks a bit like component instead of HDMI, and there's a fair amount of artifacting in the images. Don't know if that's causing the disparity, but to be honest, it's not that great a difference anyway.
Don't know which version I'll be getting, and I'll likely not grab it day one, anyway. I've got enough of a backlog that I really don't need anything else right now.

Achievements... 'nuff said.
It's kind of disappointing to see such a huge graphical difference though (and it does appear to be a pretty big difference!).

Just read on Wikipedia this is right from there article now the question is what does it look like in 1080p upscale. Initial screenshots of the Xbox 360 version released by Square Enix to compare to the PlayStation 3 version were revealed shortly after to be screenshots from the PlayStation 3 version, with the Xbox 360 control icons pasted on top.[65] Square Enix apologised, claiming there would be no need to enhance the Xbox 360 screenshots and that a mistake was made,[66] and later released screenshots that did come from the Xbox 360 version.[65] Analysis of these new screens revealed that the Xbox 360 version of the game runs with a lower native resolution of 576p, compared to the PlayStation 3 version's native resolution of 720p.[1] IN OTHER WORDS SQUARE SCREWED MS OVER BY DOING LOWER NATIVE RESOLUTION. i HATE YOU SQUARE!!

Bungie screwed MS over by releasing a less than HD (640p) Halo 3, which was supposed to be 720p. Do you hate them too?

if you have to look at screenshots side by side to tell the difference... there is no difference.
as long as the games play the same, i dont see why theres a need for fanboy nonsense

I think a rather obvious observation is exactly what does it mean when one says the 360 version is inferior? If one looked visibly like an Xbox original game, vs PS3 caliber graphics, then one could make the point that one is visibly superior over the other. However, when hair tips are more or less an area of contention, it's rather moronic to start proclaiming a 'superior' version. Ghostbusters was a visibly inferior version compared to the 360, but this is more variations on hardware rendering. It's not like we can see much of a difference on your screen at home. 1080p tvs aside, at 6 feet back on a 46-52" tv, you'll never see individual pixels on that level of scrutiny. Unless you like gaming with your nose pressed up against the screen.

Personally i couldn't care less, the differences in graphics are barely noticeable at the most. Besides who are you people calling yourselves true fans of FF and bitching about the graphics? Did FFVII have good graphics? Did VIII? Honestly did any of them before X? No, but they're still amazing. (And whats with XII its like they went backwards in terms of graphics

well, i've heard that the screenshots for the 360 were on a 720p system (idk about component of HDMI) and that the PS3 was 1080p. Cant confirm, just heard a rumor, but if the 360 screenshots were 720p component then everyone will be shocked at how much better it looks in HDMI. Me and my roomate were playing MW2, boith 720p on HDTV's, but he was on component and i was running HDMI, and the loading screen for Derail was a lot crisper on my screen. Plus, PS3 is known to have a higher graphical output than the 360 anyways, so im not sure what the dealio is? Wont be sure until we get a side-by-side in same rez.

Exact same game, exact same experience. There is no real difference between the two versions. Yes the PS3 version will look more vibrant that the Xbox 360 version... so what. In the end, while both the PS3 and Xbox 360 will both benefit from this installment within the Final Fantasy universe, the reall winner is us the gamers.
Also, the Xbox 360 ha s a better GPU, the PS3 a better CPU. Both facts are true, however what separates both consoles is the fact that the Cell can do the job of a GPU, which puts the PS3 over considering it doesn't need a GPU to get down and dirty with games...that came out wrong, oh well.

doesn't matter entirely to me...this game is going to bomb stateside on ps3 because ps3 owners in the states only bought them as a blu ray player first and for games second..but it will sell millions in japan because that is the core audience..just look at the stateside sales of AAA ps3 games in the states

Yeah I hate Bungie too they haven't put out a great game since original halo part 2, and 3 were mediocre at best.

Someone posted earlier a link to team xbox.com for screenshots of the game. I followed the link and was flipping through all of the screens and came to one of the identical ones on the frontpage of this article. The hair and jagged edges are hardly there and looks very comparable in my opinion to the PS3 version.
Here's a link to the screenshot.

It does!! I think the screenies on joystiq for the alleged Xbox version are just not true 1080p shots. The Screenshots on team Xbox for the 360 are pretty much identical to the PS3.

I love how all the 360 fans constantly say, "cheevos" or crap like that? The PS3 also has a form of that called Trophies, which I think makes more sense, ranking each trophy with bronze silver and gold. PS3, wins...

I would just like to say that I am a sony loyalist at heart made my bed with the PS1 and now I lay in it on the PS3. When Xbox got better treatment from Bioware I was ticked but I ate my bowl full of shoulda got an Xbox and shut up. The problem I had with this was Xbox sales will not make up for the number of dedicated fans they lost with this series there is a reason it is up to FFXIII and thats because consumers have been loyal to the series. I think that loyalty should be rewarded by the company. The reason that Xbox wont sell as many copies is the same arguement most of my friends make for why I should have gotten an Xbox instead of a PS3 FREE GAMES on Xbox. The pirate market on that system is HUGE I know a guy who has not bought a new game in almost 2 years for his 360 and he sales the altered versions of the Xbox so others dont have to spend money on games either. I will say that I let my money talk to the company for me I just didnt buy this installment of Final Fantasy which wasnt hard considering the International trailer in the Playstation cinema was of Leona Lewis talking about how "the strong female protagonist" strikes a cord with her. This trailer alone would have made me rethink my purchase without the betrayal of Square.
