Should've saved the announcement for E3. They'd probably have some sort of build that they could show off by then, and the announcement would have been much more potent.

I agree, there is no reason to announce it on a TV show unless there was a lot of money being given.

I'm really crossing my fingers that Cliffy's BIG ANNOUNCEMENT is a new Unreal Tournament for 360 that will have robust clan support and fully customizable maps.

Even if it was a new Unreal, we've seen that Microsoft hates user mods which is the bread and butter of unreal, that's why unreal 3 came out on the ps3/pc waaaay before the 360 version

Awesome. Now let's get the multiplayer back to the spirit of Gears 1 and forget Gears 2 every happened (except Horde mode, bring that over too).
After an 8 month experiment with Gears 2 we still play Gears 1 a good two to three times a week.
Epic, there's nothing wrong with an "Action Shooter". No need to force these lame attempts at being a "tactical" shooter on us when that's clearly not what you're good at.

The funny thing was, Gears 1 multiplayer was just "tagged on", I believe it wasn't really fully planned when they were making the game. Yet, it turned out really well.
I think in Gears 2, as Gears 1 multiplayer was so popular, they tried to concentrate on it and mould it into this tactical shooter type as cover is such a big feature.
But it turned out to be a load of hairy man sack.

Well, I think what really happened is Gears 1 MP was awesome by accident. Like you said it was just "tacked on" and ended up not being what the originally intended it to be at all (they wanted it to play like the single player, and never intended it to be a shotty-fest).
The problem was, people loved it, and now all the fans of the series were fans of that type of MP. So when Gears 2 came around, they tried to make the tactical shooter they had originally intended to make, but they were now delivering it to a fanbase full of action shooter fans (and that's not to mention their idea of a tactical shooter just didn't work).
Some guy on the Gears forums made a great post a year ago where he compared Gears 1/2 to post-it notes. Did you know the guy who invented post-it notes was actually trying to make the world's strongest glue? He made a weak adhesive on accident, but everyone loved it. Imagine if he had released post-it notes version 2 and instead of lightly sticking to stuff, they were all super glued on.

Here's hoping they have a Horde mode-like mode for the Horde where the objective is to kill every human in an area. Even if it's unlockable after beating the game once, I'd be willing to buy a 2 disc game.

Heres to hoping GoW3 MP is better than GoW1 and GoW2 MP because they both were problematic online, specifically host advantage. Horde is awesome, bring that back.

Meh. Never really found the Gears series to be that enjoyable. It's hard to be compelled to finish a game when all the main characters are irredeemable dickheads who I would have no problem in gunning down myself.

I have a love/hate thing with the series. I really found the campaign in 2 so vanilla. Big things were blowing up and I was just like yeah really? Although I did end up playing it a lot so I'll of course be playing this.

Personally I'm glad that the release date is a year away. There's too many good games coming out this year. I don't need to list them all, but there's a handful on the 360 alone that have me very intrigued.
