In some countries (including UK where I live), it's illegal to sell games that include violent content [etc] without ratings. Same applies to DVDs.

Whether or not that's the case in Japan, I'm sure stores will try to enforce age ratings anyway. So if they want to sell more games to kids/teenagers, they have to aim for the lower age rating. Hardly a big surprise, I'm sure there are lots of US-published games that aim for a T rating too.

(In addition, reportedly the console manufacturers will not license games that don't get a rating, so even in countries like the US where it's legal to sell unrated games, you'll probably find that Sony wouldn't license that explicit-tentacle-rape PSP game... instead you'll have to settle for DoA whatever it was...)

Kojima seems to be borrowing from the George Lucas playbook of prequels, which dictates that you MUST, however awkward or forced it may seem, shoehorn in familiar franchise characters at all costs. Actually, even in Star Wars all the cameos from other characters in the prequels at least make marginally more sense.

That was both incomprehensible and revolting.

I always felt that Portable Ops wanted me to have three hands - one for the stick, one for the d-pad, one for the face buttons. I never felt I was able to operate all simultaneously, which the game wanted me to do if I was to, say, move, turn and shoot.
