Battlefield: Bad Company 2 deploys 'Map Pack 4'
68
Two "new" maps have been added to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, free to Xbox 360 and PS3 players who bought the game new and registered their VIP codes. PC players will unlock the new maps through an in-game patch. Atacama Desert has been added to Rush Mode, while Conquest mode has seen Port Valdez added to the rotation.
And when will new (no quotation marks) maps drop into the popular first-person shooter? It's looking more and more likely that the recently announced Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion (coming "winter 2010") will be the first add-on to include new terrain.
Check out a video featuring the latest map update after the break.

to the game's credit, when they re-purpose the existing maps, they feel completely different. Laguna Presa is the prime example.
Plus, it's completely free to anyone who bought new.

MW2 is a fcuking virus everyone has to compare to it like it's the only good shooter out there. people come here and are pissed they turned on their systems and found new maps to play their favorite modes on. yet these same asses spend $90 to make sure they can keep up with their friends in MW2. some people are so simple minded all in the name of playing the cool mainstream obviously bestest thing evar MW2. they come oh these maps aren't new i just spent $15 more and i got new maps. well i did nothing and just got sniped out my heli by someone on the crashed ship with silly aim.
THIS IS FREE, all i did was wake up. it's like left handed people defending the iphone, oh my phone is the greatest i just have to hold it right. silly bastards.

Port Valdez seems like it would be awesome for conquest, but the other team just camped at our "cramped" base and murdered us.

I agree they should have marketed it better, but as I primarily play rush this will be new. Also, the maps are much larger on Rush with lots of new areas (Arica Harbor on conquest only has 1 section of the 5 in Rush mode).
With that said Atacama desert should be fun in Rush, but when is Panama Canal coming to Rush?! Make it happen DICE!

So can anyone PLEASE explain to me the situation with this "map packs" (4 of them??) that are not really maps but actually modes or something like that? I'm FINALLY getting this game next week (yay!) but I am really confused about all this, I only know that there are X number of maps and X number of modes but not every mode is playable in every map. Can someone explain to me please? with names and all that (or link me me to an explanation) thanks!
(also I had to buy it used :( so probably I won't get the VIP code for this free modes/maps, so is it worth buying the $10 code?)

There a bunch of maps in the game, some can be played on conquest (capture the point), some can be played on Rush (attack and defend). Theses map packs take previously ONLY rush maps and makes them conquest and visa versa. $10 for 8 different maps are great, especially if you like both modes. If your only into one of the modes, then you get 4 maps. But its totally worth it. Game is effin amazing, if been playing the series since BF 1942.

Honestly I bought this game used. The DLC structure for this game is appalling. EA has found a way to get 60 dollars out you no matter what, by withholding disc-based content! I know a LOT of you have been justifying their approach, which is idiotic. I know some of you say that it keeps the game fresh by rolling out multiplayer so slowly, that really is for me to decide though and you are supposed to support your game with NEW content that really is new. I understand the maps have been restructured, but really BFBC2 maps are large, but lack detail. They can't be that hard to code, and to add to it all the coding was done before launch. It's not like DICE is hard at work each weeks re-structuring maps for your enjoyment.
This structure is an obvious money grab.
Buy New = 60 dollars and you get full game
Buy Used = 40-50 plus 10-15(forget the price of vip) still sitting at or around 60
Buy after pricedrop = the VIP voucher is time limited, so say if the price drops to 45 in a few months and the voucher is expired. You are still paying near 60 to get the full game.
EA has found a way to make you pay full price if you want all the on disc game content for months after a games release. That is just downright evil to me, and you morons support this by saying "it's not so bad". It's awful and you guys can't see the trees through the woods. You just keep saying "it's free", when actually it's not. They hold content hostage in order to force your hand at market. There should be a lawsuit over this BS.

Awesome game though. I wish I could try onslaught, but I traded my copy in. Seeing as I played multiplayer for a few hours got bored of the 2 or 3 maps and modes they offer without VIP beat single player and the game exhausted it's replay value as I was bored with the limited multiplayer they include. However if they did give me the FULL multiplayer I could see myself sinking some serious time into this game.

New terrain please. That conquest mode addition to port valdez is welcome though. Keep up the good works DICE. PS I wish Mirror's Edge was profitable because that was a wonderful game and a sequel would be nice.
