Will this be from the Nintendo store only, are is it going to hit most retailers?

@Breakdown They list Amazon, TRU, Walmart etc as places to order it, so it's all retailers.

Thanks for the info. I tried searching on Amazon to see if a pre-order was up yet, but I don't think it is. Gonna try to have my order in ASAP.

It doesn't.

Nothing on this site really does, depending on how far to step back.

Cause it should have been available on the virtual console for 10 bucks without all the added material.

$30? Decent deal considering the extra content and that all games have updated presentations, something you can't get off the Virtual Console.

I'll probably get this eventually. I need another physical copy of SMB3 since my GBA cartridge got stolen several years ago.

@Mr Fister The NES versions would be $21/2100 Reggies on VC for the NES versions. This is the SNES-enhanced version with the bonus CD, so $30 works out pretty well.

@DonaldMick $30 is very generous, like the article says the normal run for this game usually lands around $30. I walked into a Mom & Pop video game store upstate and they had the SNES version for $25. I remember thinking to myself, who would buy this? Within 5 mins after thinking that some little kid walks over and goes "MARIO! MARIO! I WANT IT!" and the Mom says, "$25?! Maybe for Christmas."

@Mr Fister I would hardly consider this a good deal. You can buy all the virtual console games for about the same cost. It's not NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS GRAPHICS IS SNES GRAPHICS.

The CD is worthless because I already have so many mario songs on my ipod, and the art is worthless too because I have posters from club nintendo. I think Nintendo did the cheapest thing they could do.

They should have listened to me:

So, um, I think I'll just fire up my Super Famicom and play this on that.

I prefer playing with original controllers to emulation anyway. There's something magical about the limits of the actual hardware that's ruined when it's upscaled and running in 60fps on my computer with a 360 controller attatched.

You know what? I was totally down with this.. but I just can't let myself spend $30 on a Super Nintendo game in 2010.

Boardroom:
'Hey we should totally drop Super Mario Allstars on the VC this week, yo. 800 NP's dog! 800 NP's!'

'Nah, let's just throw in a 3 cent mix CD with some crappy Mario tracks on it, slap together a 'collector's item' book and charge them triple!'

*high fives*

.... This is how boardroom conversations really happen.

@Jerk Face: That is pretty much how I felt about this compilation as well.

Some kind of update (in terms of graphics, music, and SFX perhaps) could have been employed to take advantage of the Wii's hardware (which of course is considerably better than what the SNES could produce).

Also, I've looked at the track list for the included CD and it's really nothing but a very narrow selection of songs from each major Mario game (by "very narrow" I mean one track per game). What would have been FAR more memorable is having a DVD with the complete soundtracks of absolutely every single mario game in existence and nice navigational menus for selecting each track.

THAT to me would be a package worthwhile of Mario's 25th Anniversary and not an unaltered SNES game followed by a random selection of tracks that could be compiled by anyone very quickly anyway. The package in its current forms resembles something quick and effortless to produce for the sake of an easy cash grab.

@future42 The EU version of Mario All-Stars actually included SMW so they have access to a version with it built in without any additional work. Personally for a 25 year anniversary I think they shouldve had all the Mario's up to and including Mario 64 instead of just throwing a SNES game onto a Wii disk.

Along with the Mario World games, Super Mario RPG would've been nice, and since the WiiMote works in a fashion similar to a mouse, Mario Paint would've sent it into the stratosphere. Then again, this is Nintendo, not Valve, so we shouldn't be TOO surprised that they don't give you quite enough for your $.

No reason imo since I still have the copy of All-Stars that I got with my SNES all those years ago... The extras aren't worth it to me. Now, if the game was an updated version of the SNES All-Stars, with like NSMBWii graphics, or if they included the card reader content from Japan, I'd be all over it.

To those that don't collect older games or buy them on the virtual console, and haven't played through All-Stars yet, definitely do yourself a favor! It's a great collection!
