If I could find one for $100, I'd probably get it. I will not pay more than that tho

This is one of the few consoles/handhelds I simply do not want. If I acquired one during a fire-sale, I'd probably never open it and keep it for collector's sake. I did that with some old (failure) consoles (like the Jaguar).

well since there are so many hints that there is a psp2, i see no reason no reason for anyone to pick this up or atleast pick this up rather than a psp

@shadowhowl1900 Thanks for bringing me back to the world of logic. I was leaning to "buy" and now between PSP2 and PSP phone, new things are enroute and this is pointless.

Anybody think this might be a sign of stores just trying to get rid of their stock before Sony puts the kibosh on the GO? Come on the manufacture isn't even impressed with the devices sales, look at Japanese sales of the device, they are worse than the 10 year old PS2.

What is Black Friday about? Is it to celebrate something or just a Friday where alot of shops discount their products?

Now if that was the regular price and THEN there was a sale I might really think about getting one...

Love my psp 3000 more, thank you. But for 99.99cad....no not even.

I'd be genuinely tempted if I didn't already have a 2000 (and also if I hated the idea of having access to the UMD library that absolutely dwarfs the digital selection).

Nah. My PSP-3000 still works fine.

Don't worry I don't think people are going to get carried away buying the PSPGo...... Sounds more like BestBuy is trying to liquidate their lemons.

Get Valkyria Chronicles 2. My PSP collected dust for 2 years but since I got that game, it's been my primary console.

Is there a way to "unlock" downloadable versions of games you own the UMD for? Because this would be cool, but I don't buy new PSP games. I just milk the ones I have for the rest of eternity. (Valkyria Chron. 2, which I will finish soon....and the occasional lumines)

@sigma8 Hahahahaha. No. Sony scrapped any possibility of that early on.

That's how I understood things to be the case. I just don't keep up so I wasn't sure if they made it possible. Too bad. Even though I, like, never use my PSP, the form factor is so appealing that I would probably toss some money at it, if I could somehow get my existing games on there. Stupid you, Sony.

$150?
... for a PSP Go?
... my local Best Buy still has these in stock...
http://kotaku.com/5552923/sony-gets-aggressive-with-psp-game-pricing-free-pspgo-games
... so, I could get PSP Go, plus Socom, plus Ratchet, plus Little Big Planet for $150?
... but I still wouldn't be able to play Kingdom Hearts.

Still to high, I might get one when it hits $100 mark.

Considering how restrictive the PSP Go is with how you can acquire games, with no way to sell games once you're done with them, and therefore no discounted used games, Sony should really be giving these things away, similar to how printer manufacturers basically give their printers away, so that they can rape people who don't know about ebay on the ink. That $150 should include a game or 3 to make this even worth considering.
Posted: Nov 4th 2010 1:03PM JONNNathannn said
Not being able to sell games is something that's not going to change with digital media and from XBLA to Apple's App Store - people are ok with that. The huge, undeniable issues are (1)Go's price (2)PSN games prices should be cheaper than physical games and discount as many months pass and (3)too many games not on PSN.

Am I the only one that thinks the Go feels really flimsy? I was thinking about one, but it just seems like it will break in half when opened.

@Shadow Hog Yes, "homebrew". Because all PSP users who don't update use their systems for "homebrew".

I picked up a PSP Go for $199 on Amazon about a month ago. I got the three free games deal. LittleBigPlanet was solid, I got bored with Ratchet and Clank (a series I thoroughly enjoy), and haven't checked out the SOCOM game yet. But the first portable God of War game was really good and as soon as I get a minute I'm going to download the new GoW game.
I never owned a non-Go PSP and I don't own and UMDs. The idea of a portable system with no discs or cartridges was very appealing to me. Also, my portable game collection tends to be smaller than my home console game collection, so if titles that aren't the highest profile don't make it to PSN Store, I can live with it.

Even at 50$ I wouldn't buy this.
The PSP GO was a dead from the get go. We may never know the real #s but I am betting it is one of the biggest flops in videogame handheld history (Ok...maybe not as bad as VirtualBoy but thats not really handheld).
A missed opportunity for SONY was allowing UMD owners an upgrade path.....something they hopefully won't repeat when the PSP2 comes out.
Even offering 5$ charge and sending in the UMD (ala the HD-DVD to BLU-RAY upgrade) would be something.

My PSP is all jailbroken and stuff..and I will say it's a total waste of time for me. I neither use homebrew or any kinds of copies of stuff. I am just paranoid that if I don't keep it homebrew-ready, I'll regret it one day.
But Shadow Hog, I think you're ok with the firmware. If not, it's possible to get it to a firmware level that's ok. I forget now which tools I used, but I had to jump through hoops after I picked up VC2 to get it to play, and after an evening's worth of googling stuff, I had it working fine.
As for playing 1 first, I'm not sure what to say. VC1 gives you a better sense of the geography and the "world"...so that's kind of helpful. Of course, in VC2 you play a character who sucks at geography (and anything academic). So if you played it not knowing these things, you'd just be resembling the protagonist. VC2 has a more developed "class" system, which you might miss if you played VC1 second.. But VC1 has full voiceovers, many more animated cutscenes, bigger battle maps (with no sectioning)... So they each have their strengths. They were both pretty lengthy, but I think VC2 is longer...mainly because it has a looser narrative and more "fluff" missions.. which is fine, they're all fun.. But in VC1, every mission ties tightly to the storyline..

Quick second note on my homebrew situation.. I said I had to jump through hoops... I just wanted to clarify that the last time I had touched my PSP was to get its homebrew to a point where I could play Megal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. So I was way behind in firmware revision support. At 6.20, I think you might be more than OK.
