Why couldn't Sega give us 360/PS3 people this instead of Sonic 4?

If it's a hit, I wouldn't be surprised at a port.

because Sonic does better on the Wii. Even Sonic Unleashed on Wii was much more critically acclaimed on Wii than PS3 and 360. Sonic Rush > Sonic Rivals on PSP. It's just common sense that Sonic fits with Nintendo better (hence why we have Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games)

That's one hell of a spin. By "much more critically acclaimed" I'm sure you mean "much less unanimously panned."

Yeah, which is why I said it was "less unanimously panned."

66% aggregate isn't any kind of "critical acclaim" no matter how hard you try to spin it.

"Or, dare I dream, an HD version for PS3 and 360."

I don't think it's a dream as much as it's an inevitability.

I'm glad this got a good review, though. It's nice to see Sonic get some love.

I'd like to see a port. However, I have a bad feeling that they didn't really make any of the assets for a more powerful machine like a PS3, thus, "upping" everything wouldn't really help it's look.

I will say though, however, that I'd bet you my single glowing eye that the next Sonic game that comes out on HD consoles will be of the same formula as Colors.

Btw, I still think Sega could learn a lot from that PC remake. That was astounding.

Exactly what's wrong with this blog and it's blogging contributors.

The day I read "Or, dare I dream, a Wii version" on this site I will start to not believe this place has a PS360 bias.

@Co How does wanting an even more attractive, high-definition version of a game that is already clearly beautiful evidence of some sort of a bias?

I have all three current-generation consoles. I want this on my Xbox.

@Shockwave The textures and other assets not being HD quality might not really hurt it that much. Have you seen some of the videos of people playing Wii games at high resolution with an emulator?

It'd have to be priced $10 or $20 below par, but seriously: Take a Wii game, run it at 1080p, add some anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, and it'll usually look damn good.

If a Wii HD comes out, or even just when the next true Nintendo console arrives, here's hoping it'll upconvert original Wii games similarly to the emulator.

@nawoa umm the xbox and ps3 dont have no type of Anti-Aliasing. the chips they have are one generation behind that. if they did games like halo and CoD would look much more easier on the eyes than they look now...

Didn't like the soundtrack, WHAT. Listening to the soundtrack the past two days is the main reason this game catapulted itself above Donkey Kong Country Returns and Epic Mickey as my most anticipated game for the rest of the year, and I haven't played a console Sonic since I rented Heroes six years ago. @Cleric Also, I am by no means a Gametrailers proponent, I simply saw the video review right before this one. I'm of the opinion that they are likely paid off by companies to give their reviews a hike (see Dance Central and MW2) because they're so damn uneven with reviewing.

I like to check out alot of different reviews from GT, to IGN, to Game Informer to GameSpot to 1UP but personally, to me, the reviews that match the most for the games I actually played, would have to be here at Joystiq. They aren't afraid of telling the truth and seems like I have the same taste of gaming as them. So I would say, trust Joystiq. :P

So basically it's Sonic Unleashed, except whiny players who went into the game expecting to hate it can't complain about the not-bad-at-all werehog or the not-bad-at-all emblem collecting?

Sonic fans complain about every new game. I'm starting to believe that Sonic games have never been excellent from the start, but rather that these "fans" are just having flashbacks of the 16-Bit console wars.

I don't understand the people that hate recent Sonic games so much and worship the old ones.

I've been a fan since I got Sonic 2 back on the mega drive. I've played almost every game as it's came out (Sonic unleashed is my only exception) and, to me, the only game that really deserves the amount of negative criticism is Sonic 2006.

My top two Sonic games are Sonic 2 and Adventure 2, though that second one may be because of my Chao addiction.

If there is no announcement within a month or two of it happening then I will get it, most likely at a discount!

Absolutely, its kinda a strange feeling when in the past few months by Wii has been my main focus over my PC or 360. Mario Galaxies 2, Metroid, Kirby, Goldeneye, now Sonic and we still have Epic Mickey and Donkey Kong! Now where is that new Zelda game...?

Take me to bed or lose me forever, Nintendo!

@Aquaryon : I think what we are seeing from Nintendo is like the 'grand finale' of a fireworks show when they just light everything and send it off. I cannot remember a time when Nintendo had so many back-to-back heavyweight titles. SMG2, Metroid: Other M, GoldenEye007, Kirby: Epic Yarn and this Sonic Colors. Not to mention Donkey Kong Country Returns, Epic Mickey, and Zelda on the way.

This tells me that Nintendo will be announcing a successor to the Wii next year, most likely at E3. There really is no other explanation I can think of for such an overload of strong titles in such a short period of time.

If I make a supposition, I believe it will be a system with HD graphics either on par or more power than the PS3 and 360, and will have a motion control system similar to Kinect but will still maintain functionality of the Wii-Remote (you know Nintendo loves backward compatibility) giving gamers a choice. We'll see what happens but that's what I smell Nintendo cooking up.
