The DeSoto you know could've been something very different, as this concept art from Steve Purcell's blog reveals. The image is from Sam & Max Plunge Through Time, a never-released game first announced in 2001 as an Xbox exclusive.
The best part: Plunge Through Time was also being developed for PC, and in that version, the DeSoto's controls provided every key on the keyboard with a function, "however bizarre" that may sound. Is there a button that will resurrect this game? Because we totally want to push that button.

Consider that button equally yearned to be pressed. I remember that trailer, and got excited.
It took me back to the good old days of Sam & Max Hit the Road, and then my dreams were crushed when they announced it was cancelled.

I'm glad these were cancelled. After all, we probably wouldn't have Telltale Games around today if these games came out.

the telltale games of S&M are the best ... it;s really a shame that most people don't know much about it ... they are missing on a great game..

@Swizzler
Wasn't that the time traveling elevator from Chariots of the Dogs (season 2, episode 4)?
Besides they don't hop in. The time machine just disappears and the episode ends with them walking into the sunset... and there's a giant cockroach on the wall of a building.

@harusame: what the heck? I could almost swear to you that it ended with them getting back in the elevator, i don't remember any of this dialog and I i thought Sam had threw his hat off through the final dialog too... is it possible there were multiple endings O_o?

You mean a world without telltale games? That sounds like a beautiful dream.
