ORTHROS one-handed joystick controller mod gets the job done

If you're an extreme multitasker or a disabled gamer, it would seem the ORTHROS one-handed joystick mod would benefit you greatly. This Frankenstein-like union between form and function is the hard work of reader Geoff, who wrote us about his prototype which he hopes to get into manufacturing.

In all seriousness my cousin had surgery on a brain tumor when she was younger and only has finger functionality in one hand. She's a big fan of the Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises but has a hard time playing them due to her disability. There are a lot of designers who have worked on controller mods for quadriplegics but this is the first I've seen a mod for those who only suffer the loss of one arm. I actually saw quite a few one-armed gamers when I worked at GameStop.
This is a really good idea. I'd like to see it be made available, at least online...for an affordable price.
Good luck Geoff. ;D

@Dizazter A number of people make switch adapters for consoles. This is mine for the PS3.

You can plug any sort of switch into it so yes you can play using your feet, or your knees, or elbows or your head.
Look for LEPMIS in YouTube to find other examples of things to help disabled gamers.
Geoff.

I'd match rather have the http://benheck.com/03-16-2008/new-single-handed-controller
it doesnt take up as much room, its not wired, and.. well.. it looks more useable.
(talking about the white/bottom one)

Would be interesting to see someone playing Street Fighter with this controller... or any fighting game.

The creation is completely honorable, and I am not making a joke.
But was showing it being used with Tomb Raider the best game to demo it with? That's just going to pull in the "one-handed" jokes even more.
I guess it could be worse. Could be Bayonetta, but that game already has a one-handed mode.

When is a new Dead of Alive game coming out on consoles?

This seems like a step backward to me. It's cool, I'll admit. But it still seems pointless.

All jokes aside, I work with handicapped people, and one of those people is a young man wh had surgery on a brain tumor (as well) and had his left side paralyzed. He loves to play games but is severally limited to the games he can play. (Any wii game that doesn't need the nunchuck, pretty much.) So this is a vbery cool thing and would like to see it released.

Doesn't look too functional. I'm more interested in gyrocopic designs.
