I seriously just put some double sided scotch tape. Works like a charm and the tape is well hidden.

So it's safe to say that McGyver owns a Kinect.

No, more like he made his own Kinect. I mean, this McGyver we're talking about.

Tony Stark is instructed to make a rocket by his captors, and he builds a flying metal suit of armour.

McGyver is asked to assemble your discounted Ikea furniture with missing pieces, and he builds a Kinect.

Which scenario is more full of win?

I just attached my Kinect to the top if my flat screen LCD with a 1.5 x 1.5 inch piece of Velcro. The rest isn't necessary.

Quite happy with my rear projection DLP. The top of the TV is already pretty flat. With the bottom of the Kinect having the hard rubber texture similar to a mouse pad, there's enough friction to hold the Kinect in place even when it moves.

Now I just have to ghetto something together for a friend's plasma screen. 3M double sided tape, here we come!

They'll be on track for 5 million if they can continue to sell 1 million every ten days but I somehow... doubt they'll be able to do that. Kinect has launched and early adopters, xbox fans, and the hype are responsible for that initial global number of 1 million. Keep in mind the device is sold out nowhere, only the sensor is sold out on most online stores but not in real physical stores.

Now compare to Wii's first 10 days which were also 1 million units. Except that was only North America and also it was not easily obtainable my any means without queuing up over night or just being lucky. MS will sell 5 million kinects within the year but not over this holiday season. Of course, they might try to spin the actual shipped units number in the end which might be 5 million, what do I know I'm just posting a comment on a video game blog site. (AFAIK, the 1 million is units sold so far, not just shipped)

There is another option that is more stable and isn't much more difficult. It cost me about $16 to make but you can make it for less than $10. Pic at: http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/7244/img02z.jpg

You need a small wooden shelf (narrower and lighter is better), 2 L-shape wall mounting brackets for the shelf which you attach to the shelf with 4 self tapping wood screws and screw to the wall mount screw holes at back of the TV with 2 screws (check your TV manual for the screw size).

Remember to space the L-brackers centered but far enough aparat for the TV wall mount screw holes. You might need to drill the holes in the L-bracket bigger to fit the TV wall mount screw size. I have attached the 2 L-brackets to all 4 of the wall mount screws at the back of the TV for extra strength - it is strong enough to support a decoder. You can modify this shelf to work with a wall mount by using longer wall mount screws.

I think mine is less ugly, and cost about £4 in total.

L brackets from hardware store (65mm). I used 3 in total.
http://twitpic.com/35m9r7

Cover in velcro (furry)
http://twitpic.com/35mcmc

Apply velcro (sticky) to TV on top and back
http://twitpic.com/35mckx

Apply velcro (sticky) to bottom of Kinect
twitpic dor com /35mdpx

Stick L brackets to TV (top and back) and Stick Kinect on top.
twitpic dot com /35mdpr

DONE.

I made this last week and after a load of jumping around etc its still safely secure to the mount.

This was my solution, keep in mind this was for a rear projection TV meaning... the depth is greater than an LCD/Plasma TV. Since then I have painted it black and it works well.

I've also had a go at something similar using a knock-off Meccano set which cost me £2. I think it looks way better than some of the other solutions, it's rock solid and completely invisible from the front, check out the photo's on my blog:
