@ForeverAndEver

The PSP has been doing really well for a long time. This week it even actually beat the DS.

@ForeverAndEver the PSP has always been very successful in Japan. They get a ton of games that we don't and their local games library is way better than the DS one.
Also most portable versions of popular Japanese franchises (Ace Combat, Yakuza and quite a few others) and anime-related games are published on PSP.

I guess that PSPgo price drop is helping it out in sales. Either that or enough people stopped buying DS Lites, 360s, and PS2s

Everyone in Japan already owns a DS (or several), and PS2 (including unit replacement sales).

@Elranzer Just in case you believe what you type the estimated Japanese population is around 128 million people. Nintendo would be lucky if they sold to 15% of the population. Actually that would be huge and is somewhat accurate.

@ForeverAndEver

Try some of the games, especially the more recent ones. If people knew some of the awesome it dishes out, it would do a lot better.

Here's a few:
Valkyria Chronicles
Monster Hunter (Any)
Dissidia
Phantasy Star Portable 2
Persona Series (remake of 2 recently announced)
+ the fact that it can play any PSN accessed PS1 game.

...I could go on, but I think this is enough.

"and their local games library is way better than the DS one. "

I wouldn't go that far. Don't forget that the DS has Dragon Quest IX, which makes it King of the Handhelds in Japan.

So it really wasn't too soon to announce/release a new DS. It's just impossible to sell more DS units by now.

and yet if yo combine the psp scews and the Ds scews you'll see the Ds actually outsold the psp as a whole. thats pretty good for a game system thats already 31 million in japan.

in reality the DS won this month.

I think you need to learn how to add. The PSP and all it's "scews" outsold the DS and all it's "scews" by a considerable margin.

@Shockwave like i said good sir. the ds skews outsold the psp skews. i does my math..

PSP – 179,363
DSi LL – 115,063
PS3 – 110,895
DSi – 105,639
Wii – 63,009
DS Lite – 24,197
Xbox 360 – 12,688

@rahnyc4

You can just use SKU, not scew or skew.

For the MONTH, yes it looks like DS sold more, I am not going to the spend the time adding up all the weeks.

Well this year the PSP library has been better. I can't think of many great DS games that came out this year. Golden Sun is coming up though.

The Desert Bus live-cast is entertaining. People are paying them to do silly stuff and sing songs on camera.

I just clicked the live bus feed from their site and had to watch an ad for a film before the video started streaming. The movie is called Robo Geisha and it's out on DVD. I hope all of you will experience what I just saw. There are no words...

I just clicked the live bus feed from their site, and they're singing a song from a Monty Python thing.

Holy crap, what a bunch of nerds.

They know all the words.

They ALL know all the words.

I have to leave their site now.
