When Test Drive Unlimited 2 launches early next year, players will be able to indulge in one of life's sweetest vices: Gambling. The launch day Casino DLC pack will give players another channel of income and unlockable cars -- provided they're as constantly lucky as the players in the trailer below.

Really hate about hearing DLC for a game that is still months away from being released.
Note to devs: I know you work on DLC for awhile, but wait to tell me at least a week before release so i don't feel like I am missing content on my disc.

I have never understood this. Do you complain when you go to buy a car, and the heated mirrors are an extra charge? Why didn't they just include them with the car for no extra charge, right?
Granted we are talking about a non-physical product here, but the same concept applies. Each bit of content developed costs more money. The only question is whether you feel the content is worth the price. Is the game worth $60 without this content or not? It doesn't matter if they developed the DLC before the game shipped or two years later, it still had to be developed either way. You can choose to buy the DLC or not.
The $60 game is a set price, no game disc goes above that. The first TDU was quite ambitious and had a ton of content, and I don't expect any less from TDU2. If you don't feel the game has enough content already without this extra casino content, fine. But don't think you should just be entitled to any additional content for a game on principle. What about if that content was never developed in the first place? Then suddenly you are ok with the amount of content offered on the game disc? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm excited for this game and participated in the beta, but wasn't really sold on the whole "lifestyle" thing. I don't care about buying furniture for my house... I just want to take some nice cars for a spin.
BUT, if they let me take money from chumps in Hold 'em, I may change my mind.

I've never understood the concept of playing poker in a video game. If you lack the ability to read your opponents, how can you tell when they are bluffing? Doesn't video game poker instead boil down to the best player usually being the best mathematician? Being bad at math seems an unusual determiner of chumpage, but I suppose every village defines its own criteria for idiocy.

You're mostly right. Being good at online/video game poker has nothing to do with reading people. Most of it is just knowing probabilities of hands, but there is still an element of seeing patterns in other players. You can't read their body language, tone of voice, or eyes, but you can see how often they bluff, how big of a bluff it is, what hands they bet what amounts on, etc. And I'm guessing that people playing poker here are going to be more predictable than people playing poker on a poker site... which means I hope that they let you play for pink slips :)

Picked up need for speed hot pursuit today by matching black friday prices early at target and it is amazing. Wont be picking this up. If they have to put gambling and big houses in a game its clear even THEY realize they cant keep up with the cometition

I for one am glad that I won't be forced into paying for this thing in the released game. I'm not sure about this whole shift from a driving game to a 'lifestyle' game, especially if that lifestyle doesn't include shagging beautiful women.

They're probably keeping "shagging" off the disc so they can sell it as DLC too.

I played a little in Closed Beta and i am sad to say that this game has nothing on TDU1.
Textures are fugly, cars handle badly, annoying UI popups all the time...
don't expect to much or you WILL be disapointed.
Those Casino minigames are a waste of Dev time.
