Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, the "most dynamic sales weapon" publisher Capcom has ever had, has surpassed the 600,000-downloaded mark. The $5 XBLA-exclusive sold another 100,000 units in October, topping the Xbox Live Arcade sales chart and apparently making it the "fastest selling" XBLA game of the year.
The full-bodied demo/prequel to Dead Rising 2 has been an incredible success, selling nearly a half million units in its first two weeks back in early September. As for Case Zero's sales impact on the full game, it certainly didn't hurt the sequel, as Capcom announced in late October it had shipped over 2 million units of the game to retailers.

Wow that's awesome.
As a reward for your success you should make a new Dino Crisis game capcom.

Well it did lose them my sale. I bought Case Zero, then realized I hadn't had the opportunity or desire to even play that, so there wasn't any point in me getting DR2.

@Liquidfingers Instead of picking up a $60 game on launch day thanks to the hype and never getting around to popping it in and playing it (Which is what I might have done with Dead Rising 2), I bought a small slice $5 version of that game and did that. At this moment, it's on sale for $30 on Amazon's cyber monday sale, and since I haven't gotten around to Case Zero, I still don't want to pick it up just yet.
It's like a purchasing condom! It was a small expense that kept me from making a costlier mistake. It's not an issue of quality or even if I'd like it or not. It's that by the time I'd get around to it, it might be in the clearance bin. It's already down 50% now.

Yes but in this case you didn't use the condom, so you decided you didn't want sex.
I really enjoyed Dead Rising, and I hope other publishers see the success of Case Zero and follow suit. The gaming population has been clamoring for something like this for quite a while, I'm just glad it was successful.

Well I think it's a guarantee that we'll see this idea again. Why give away demos if you can put a little more work into it, and give us something more and make some money? That's win/win for everybody. I played Case 0 and realized how much I enjoyed it, and picked up DR2 and have been loving that. I'm doing the overtime mode right now.

Of course, we PS3 users will just have to wait for the inevitable Complete Gangbang Edition or whatever the name turns out to be.

It's nice that they got those numbers from the premium demo, but how has those downloads actually impacted the full game's sales numbers?
Telling me shipping numbers doesn't say much, and the majority of those payed downloads could be the existing DR fan base who were getting the full game anyways, not the newcomers who are unsure about the game (most of those types wouldn't really pay for a demo).

Yeah but it stopped me from buying the game when it came out, instead it filled my thirst for a second title long enough for it to hit the used game market at $20.00 price tag... so was it a good idea still, probably. Heres hoping more publishers follow suite.

I actually preferred Case Zero to DR2 - it was outside.
DR2 had a boring shopping mall feel all over again.

I wasn't going to purchase Dead Rising 2. The first one was too difficult for me - maybe due to a lack of patience. I decided to give Case Zero a go on a whim because it was only $5 and after enjoying it so much, I purchased the Zombrex edition of Dead Rising 2.
So, this little gamble from Capcom ended up costing me $5 plus another $80+ on the Zombrex edition. Well played, Capcom! And no regrets from me either, Dead Rising 2 is much more enjoyable than the first outing. If Capcom is smart and markets Case: West for another $5, I'll buy that too (if it's any higher, I'll just wait for a sale.)

What a brilliant idea! But yeah, no MvC3 Demo, that would just be silly.

That's funny cause myself plus 3 others didn't buy the full game because we already had the demo. Guess we're the minority here.
