Rock Band 3 title update fixes crashing, pause score exploit
25
At some point today, PS3 Rock Band 3 users will be prompted to download a mandatory title update -- the Xbox 360 patch is coming "in the near future". The first of two planned updates resolves some persistent glitches in the game, including freezes that take place during the amp loading vignette and when messing around with eyebrows in the character creator. " All eyebrows are now safe," the forum thread assures us.
Additionally, an exploit where players could constantly pause mid-song to inflate score has been addressed in the update. Now any performance during a song that's been paused multiple times won't have its score reported. Also, we reluctantly point out that one of the more dreaded issues, the PS3 keyboard audio glitch, is not included in today's update. Harmonix has acknowledged the issue and is looking into a fix.

I have fallen victim to the Ramp of Death so often that I get a slight sense of elation when they finish pushing that amp down it and the game isn't going to freeze for this song. That fix is almost bittersweet.

Maybe this will quiet the crybabies around the Rock Band forums.

@wcarnation Of course it wont. This patch wont add in a World Tour mode, it wont fix the horrible online interface, it's not going to allow you to show off your custom artwork online, still no fliter for lighter rating, doesn't add a "save" function for flitering, still has that stupid highway for the guitar that's hard to distinguish when solos begin and end, no crowd sing-alongs, of course old hairstyles and clothing from the last 2 games wont show either.

@wcarnation Whatever you say dude. If you're perfectly fine with the game in it's current state, then don't bother downloading the patch. If it wasn't for us "crybabies" you'd never get improvements made for your games.

I could've sworn I heard the crowd sing along when I was doing some Bon Jovi songs. The new hair styles take a lot of getting used to, even I'm still not used to them (Serious what the hell with the pompadore?) Also the guitar solo needs to change and I hate how now the guitar and drums get a groove. The main reason I never played bass on RB was due to the groove crap because when it changed it always threw me off on the next few notes.

@The Aquacharger they still sing along to old songs or DLC that had them...but absolutely no RB3 songs have a crowd sing along,

Phew luckily you mentioned the PS3 audio glitch. I wanted to buy the bundle tomorrow and I just found out this glitch, so fortunate! =D Thanks Dave! I guess I'll buy it when they patched this up.

@Presaria It's really not that bad enough to avoid buying the game over.

Yeah if you don't buy it then there's less demand for the keyboard to be fixed. More demand(purchaseS) means quicker fixes.

This game needs more than just these fixes. As a person who LOVED RB, and platinumed RB2, they took so many modes and features away from the previous titles that I'm honestly surprised this game was reviewed so well. Feels more like a GH game than a RB title.

I'm a die hard RB fan as well, however I don't mind the new changes. Usually whenever I play alone or locally, it's always quickplay mode. Road Challenges are fun and all, but screwing up and missing a star/spade takes the fun out of the whole set, knowing I'll have to go back and play it all over again if I want to get the best rewards.

@Golgo13 The Spades made it feel more like a game than a "band". I already got all the spades (I think it took me 2 or 3 days), and I'll never go back to it...all quick play from here.

I know its an issue, but its an issue that not everyone is having so that could cause some trouble for HMX. If they have trouble replicating the bug on their systems; then it'll be hard for them to figure out exactly what is causing the problem.
I've heard about quiet environments working as well, but I play RB pretty loud and have yet to have problems.

I had a weird glitch the other day. When adding a fourth instrument (no vocals), I had to turn on the All Band Mode, or else the game would not detect the instrument in the third slot no matter what. No regular controllers were turned on and all four instruments were assigned to one of the four ports. It wasn't a big deal, but mildly annoying for the couple of minutes it took me to figure out.

Not sure if that's a glitch, I think that's the way it's supposed to work. The game is set up for guitar, drums, vocals, and bass, but when you try to add in keyboards+guitars+bass combo, you have to turn on all instrument mode for whatever reason. You can still play with all 5 just fine.

If any else can confirm this is would be great. I talked to EA and they claim that the audio glitch with the buzzing is a disc issue and cannot be patched. They told me to send my disc in and they will send me a new one free. I dont like this idea and i think it could be fixed with a patch. Was anyone else told to send there Rockband 3 Disc in ?
