Secret menu found in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
9
Disappointed that your copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is collecting dust now that the full title is out? Slip it back in to your PS3, because here's one more secret to find. Mathieu H., on Twitter, has found a secret menu in the budget title that opens up a brand new menu, with images of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Circuit de la Sarthe, and Tsukuba tracks that supposedly weren't available previously. You can also pull up a secret options menu to toggle availability of various cars and other options, and set up races with certain cars. In other words, this is probably a kiosk mode, used to help set up demo units.
Alas, the code doesn't work in the full game, so Gran Turismo 5 owners will have to be satisfied with, you know, the full game. But then again, maybe there are a few secrets still wandering around that game's menus after all.

Those tracks? Yeah. This mode? Not that I can tell.
I would have been a lot happier with Prologue's value if it had included the ring.
But GT5's AMG school is pretty great for perfecting my driving the track, since it breaks it down to sections you can try over and over before moving on. The track is just too long for me to learn all at once. I'm much better at this than I was on GT4.

You cant actually drive on the extra tracks.. if you try, you'll get stuck at the loading screen.

Assuming that he utilized a jailbroken PS3 to find this mode (and not just hours of endless button pressing), I'm excited for what else might be lurking in some popular PS3 games. Cheat codes and special unlockables (ala paintball mode in Goldeneye) are two of the things that I miss most from the previous generations.

Did anyone else see this picture and hoped the GT5 Prologue menus turned into Asteroids?
Well, I can dream.

I've never seen mathieulh referred to as "Mathieu H."
For those of you that don't know mathieulh is a VERY well-known PSP and PS3 hacker.

I had problems reading this article, because that photo made me think about nothing but playing Asteroids!
