"For a while, people (like our bank in San Francisco and my dad) thought this was some sort of gay porn business. But after we made World of Goo, that showed them!, " LOL!!!!!! Awesome quote.

Haha. These guys sound hilarious and like really cool dudes. I'm glad World of Goo did so well and hope for their success in the future.

Yep, the companies here in Australia love their Adjective Animal names. Though, I think most of them are Color Animal...

I was wondering about this since they first announced their name. Kyle is a great designer who really showed his skills in the (his?) Experimental Gameplay Project back in the day.

He still sometimes does games for EGP. The website is still running anyway.

@oOWallaceOo Well that's what you get for not keeping a box of tissues next to your bed.

Not very exciting for an identity story... at least mine has a bit more history to it. "Bones" was a nickame tha was handed down to me by a past school bully as his description of my overall condition and appearance at the time. Having a condition called Marfans Syndrome, I was constantly tall, skinny and pasty looking, as well as double jointed with hyper-extended arms, legs, fingers... and a torso that required surgical correction every couple years. I'm not sure if it was necessarily my looks at the time, or the fact that I had a doctor's excuse from gym and early leave privileges for lunch and the bus that granted me such attention, but the "bones" name caught on just a couple years before I discovered the world of BBSes and the internet, so I kept the name and made it my online identity, since anyone I knew locally would immediately recognize it.

The 3D part came about around my senior year of high school when I latched onto some of the early video editing tools the school had just acquired. (An Amiga 4000 unit with video toaster package, and all 300 or so floppy disks the software was distributed on... including lightwave!) I ended up spending so much time with it, I was asked to try teaching it to the other students, because my instructors couldn't figure it out. I eventually went to college and got a degree in computer science in art, animation and multimedia... so the whole "Bones3D" identity was rather appropriate for me. The bonus... I had the name before technology like Inverse Kinematics became commonplace in 3D software, and now with technology like the Kinect now available to practically everyone, it's almost impossible for me not to be associated with it! (Good thing I've been researching 3D scanning technologies over the last couple years... though, it's weird it became so huge with the public this fast...)

Yea, we get that the name's awesome and all, but hurry up and release another game, either as 2D Boy or Tomorrow Corp.

World of Goo was possibly my Game of the Year for when it came out (top 3 anyway) and I love Kyle's Experimental Gameplay Projects, so it'd be great to get another game. Even WoG 2 would rock so much.
