Team Fortress 2 Soldier figurine pre-orders open at Gaming Heads
21
Gaming Heads' second Team Fortress 2 figurine will be the Soldier, as you may have gathered. Like the Heavy, the Soldier will deploy in both BLU and RED varieties -- a limited run of 300 with an inter-switchable Direct Hit accessory and a run of 750 without will ship in Q3 2011.
Oh, and of course neither will come cheap. The more limited version with the extra rocket launcher is an exorbitant $234.99, while the basic model is a slightly less exorbitant $219.99. Gaming Heads is currently taking pre-orders, if you're so inclined.

I was tempted to pick on up, you know for the 20-30 dollar range. Oh well. I guess I'll just play with My Halo Toys vs Resident Evil instead... oh and Issac Clark of course is the puppet master.

This company rips people off so bad.
I don't care if it's "hand painted", it's still $220. And the limited edition version, you could buy a console with that much instead.
And before anyone says so, this ISN'T Valve selling this. Despite the name in the title, someone will confuse them with Valve. Happened last time a story was posted about them.

@Drakkenfyre Indeed. For $220 I could instead buy a video card that will make TF2 run at 300 frames per second.

But they're licensed by Valve...
And despite the fact that I wouldn't buy one, I don't see how it's ripping people off. $200 for a 13-inch figure? Look at the vinyl-caped Jawa figure; those go for THOUSANDS of dollars.
If this is someone's hobby, I can see this totally being worth it.

You are comparing a 30 year old, limited production run figure that was considered the "poor" variant in the day from Star Wars. There's a difference between it and this.

That wasn't the operative comparison. I think you miss my point. I'm saying people are willing to paying for a late-70's Jawa; people might be willing to buy for a limited edition figure and still have it all make sense.

But only one of these are limited edition, the other one isn't. There is a difference of only $10 between the two. It's still a ridiculously overpriced item.
You can, quite literally, buy every single game Valve has made 2 and a half times for the price they charge for this statue.

And by "one is limited, one isn't", I mean the 300 run one. The regular one will have a run of 750. While this is technically limited, there is no limit in how many runs this company can do.

@monkeypants ^ agreed, but damn are they nice looking. If they made some smaller desk top friendly versions at an affordable price I am sure they would sell like $2.50 keys...err i mean hotcakes.

So how many hats do these things come with?

@Tinkus: Only one. And that's why it's so expensive. Those particle effects don't pay for themselves, you know.

My favorite class of the game, and it's so expensive. Why couldn't have Valve chosen a more consumer friendly figure maker? And sell them through the Steam Store?
Oh well.
Oh well.

Gaming Heads will use all the money generated from all the figurines sold, to buy two of every animal on Earth. Then, they'll put all of them on a boat, and beat the crap out of every single one of them.
