Great game. Very good for pick-up-and-play on the bus ride to work.

It's the opposite of the Seth Green commercial. Meaning good.

@mikec89 Decent. Old school rpg. For the 20 I paid it was worth it.

@mikec89 An awesome RPG, I really love it. Despite it being "old school" I did not really have the need to grind until toward the end, which is the point I am at now.

One of my fav DS games, and probably my favorite Dragon Quest to date. Sure, you had to substitute plot depth for more accessible play, but I was more than happy to do so. Probably a large reason why I was able to crank around 100 hours out of it on a handheld. In summation, mighty fine game, mighty fine.

Getting Nintendo to publish the game outside Japan probably helped that. They dumped tons into marketing the game and the Nintendo execs always reference it. Great game and here's hoping for the same with DQX for Wii!

It's always upsetting when someone complains about the lack of good JRPGs and they've not even played DQ9. If it's not the best RPG of this generation, it's at least one of the top 3. Great game.

@RickGhastly You are entitled to your opinion but I thought it was mediocre at best. Dated gameplay and the same tired dragon ball art we hpave seen for two decades + now. I like when companies try new things.

@Jack Kevorkian

In my mind, if there's any company out there that needs to stop "doing new things" and go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate what made them successful, it's Square Enix. Dragon Quest is a beautiful, wonderful anomaly (and it's not like DQ9 itself didn't introduce some pretty significant, albeit welcome changes to the series).

yay, now hopefully this will convince SQUARE-ENIX to press a few more copies of DQ V for people that are trying to experience the earlier games of the series.

DQ8 was better but this was good for the DS

I'm the only one who wasn't a big fan of DQIX? I'm somewhere near the end and I just can't be arsed to finish it.

DQVI, on the other hand, I'm addicted to like it's made out of crack.

This was my first Dragon Quest and I must say, shame on me for not playing this series in my childhood. It was amazing.

Dragon Quest forever!
Give 5 a try if you liked 9. I loved both, but 5 had a slightly better story.

Man, this game has given me well over 100 hours of enjoyment, but it still feels as if we've just met. So much left to be done!

So... basically DQ is still as unpopular outside of Japan as it ever was. 1 million outside of Japan is a pretty wide dispersal.
