Thanks to SquareEnix shutting down the servers for a while, I discovered life beyond my dark computer room. I met new people, volunteered, helped my family, developed an appreciation for our Earth and its people, discovered the cure for aids and cancer, and found the meaning of love. Truly these last few days were meaningful. Now to finally write dow--WHAT'S THAT?! The servers are coming back? Yippee!

Oh man... I've worked in a core before for a week that lost the A/C and they had to vent the exhaust all over the place and it *still* didn't help.

That is *not* fun.

Wait. Square isn't charging for Final Fantasy XI either? :O

I wish my computer could run XIV. I want to play it so bad. :(

I'm kinda surprised they're bothering to turn the FF14 servers back on at all.

I was thinking of coming back to try FF XIV after being disappointed when I first played it when it came out.

Does anyone know if its improved any???

I'm glad everyone's MMO is back up I guess, but it still doesn't seem right. By losing their nuclear reactors, Japan is down about 30% of their national energy infrastructure. We can all go a little bit longer without MMOs so that the people of Japan can keep their businesses open.

@JCDoe
I concur good sir. It makes me feel selfish and insensitive just thinking I'm playing an MMO with servers based in Japan taking up their electricity when it could be used elsewhere.

Having said that, a surplus of power in one place may not be easily applied to another, depending on the infrastructure, so just trust SE is doing the right thing.

@JCDoe Keeping businesses open mean keeping people into a job. SE is competing on an international scenario, against companies that don't have any energy problem. They are saving energy in other ways and contributing in other ways, so please spare us the bleeding heart?

@Abriael

Nice sense of entitlement.

Here's the reality in Japan: they are running at 70% (maybe less) energy capacity. To manage the energy crisis, they are enforcing rolling blackouts, which affects all levels of commerce and industry in the nation.

Entire cities have been washed out to sea. Massive numbers of volunteer emergency workers have been conscripted to work the rescue effort. As of March 15 (awhile ago), over 10,000 people are confirmed dead.

. . . but you deserve to play your video game (without paying for April, since /you/ shouldn't pay for the inconvenience!).

You, Abriael, are the biggest ass-fart I've encountered in awhile. Kudos for you!

I feel sorry what happen in japan but seriously they should of use the server excuse to pull the plug on final fantasy XIV until they fix most of the problem in the game.

@bargaingamer they already fixed most of the problems with the game. Now they pretty much just need to add content.
