@LEONLEONLEON

I have them both on PC. They are really great on PC, very well optimized. And of course mouse and keyboard for the win.

@Tradio

Negative.

Bioshock 2 was amazing. At least for me, since I'm a fan of the series. :)

@Tradio I have to agree, Bioshock 2 just didn't have the magic that 1 did. It didn't have any real memorable or emotional scene that I can think of, and did away with any sort of tension or scare factor that the original had. It fixed some of the gameplay problems sure but it felt soulless.

Bioshock 2 is tempting, I already have the first one on PC. Although, the loading screens last like 3 minutes. I read online a lot of people have that problem, but no fix. Cool.

@Dougtastic Uh, I bought Bioshock on GFWL like 5 months ago or whenever it was super cheap, and I am pretty sure I found a thread by just googling "Bioshock PC slow" that solved the problem.

Bioshock 2 was a good shooter. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a silly sailor.

both are great games. i really don't get all the slack that Bioshock 2 receives. why not concentrate on what the game does well (and it does plenty well), rather than how it does not measure up to its pedigree.

I have somehow managed to not buy Bioshock 2 yet and will definitely be picking it up now at this price. I loved the first one and at just 5 bucks, I'll probably love the sequel, too.

Instead of "2K Week" the promotion should be called "2weaK".
Yeah, I'm clever like that.

There were 2 things I really didn't like about bioshock 2. First is that the sense of wonder and awe of seeing Rapture again is pretty much gone (I guess the same can really be said for a lot of sequels) and second, you're supposed to be a Big Daddy, so you're supposed to have heavy duty armor....why then does it seem that I'm taking in a lot more damage than protagonist from the first game? Other than that it's a pretty solid follow up and a solid FPS. For 5 bucks it's definitely a steal.

Can't see why people think BS2 was so bad, I thought it was great. Not as good as 1 but real good none the less. Can't wait for Infinite.

Bought the first one. I've never played any of the Bioshock games, so I'm pretty excited, although I probably won't get around to it for a while. Got Steam last month. Already have 20+ games to go through O.o

@Drdre74 Sadly no. The second never came out for Mac. The first one was ported by another company, so would not give permission to Steam to put the Mac version up since that meant that owners of the PC version would download the Mac version for free without them seeing any of the income for the game. Steamplay is great, but really only works for games that are made for Mac and PC by the same company without a porting company involved.

I actually thought 2 was better than 1, so if anyone is on the fence to buy 2, please do so.

@iceveiled I posted my comment below before I saw yours, but I thought I might re-post the following if you have your account set to e-mail replies to your comments:

The BS2 product page on Steam has the following under "Other Requirements":

"Games for Windows LIVE client, Games for Windows LIVE Client Patch, Sony DADC SecuROM"

@Peretz Err, "e-mail replies to your comments" should be "e-mail alerts when someone replies to your comments."

I wish the Joystiq comment system had an Edit button, even if it was only available the first 5-15 minutes after posting. :(

I'm interested. I hate to bring it up, but should I expect any DRM nasties? SecuROM makes me cautious to the point that I'm not sure I want to risk the bother.

Huh, is the supposedly totally-awesome "Minerva's Den DLC" coming to PC version? (or already available, and just visible on the steam page?

It's never been entirely clear whether BioShock 2 comes packaged with SecuROM or not. The BS2 product page on Steam has the following under "Other Requirements":

"Games for Windows LIVE client, Games for Windows LIVE Client Patch, Sony DADC SecuROM"

But I've read where others say SecuROM is not attached.

It's a shame there's not a definitive answer. It's also a shame this comes packaged with Games for Windows Live as I've had nothing but negative or frustrating experiences with GFWL.

But if this game had no DRM or only the Steam DRM and no GFWL, I'd definitely buy BS2 for 5 bucks.
