I have never been into DLC for rythm games with the prices. I might not be so hesitant if it came with the MP3.

Uh...is this your first time seeing DLC for GH/RB? $2 a song has been a standard for like 4 years.

It's like graduation goggles.

Tell the people it's leaving, they get all sad and "Oh no! But I loved those games!" Give them hope a few months later, release a new game a year later, and BAM! Guitar Hero sales skyrocket.

Why do games go on "hiatus"? How about instead of releasing a slightly improved game each year (see: CoDBlops, next CoD), you go on "hiatus" and make some drastic improvements?

Because, as long as they corporations make money, they don't give a **** about quality, nor the few consumers who demand it. Least of all Activision.

You know, it could appear that this whole thing has played out to date, in an effort to get back at EA over the whole EA cohorting and plotting behind the scenes with the IW boys.

Jab the final blow to the genre, kill it off. Watch your competitor and find some satisfaction in their loss of potential profits. YOU, being the KING (don't hand me dev lines, the masses know GH as an Activision product) of the genre, then come back shortly after operation: broken string has completed and then take a step back - The competition just cut cost to $20 on new copies of 'the competition' . Their loss of potential profit is of great satisfaction to Activision. Their team is dismantled. The genre is dead.

Then they take baby steps, here - have some DLC. 18 months later.

The next GH launches and people eat it the funk up.

Maybe.

Except that EA doesn't make Rock Band, Harmonix does. EA is just one of the publishers, they didn't even publish EVERY Rock Band game. (Lego Rock band was published / distributed by Warner)

So, striking back at EA doesn't make that much sense, especially after EA declined to bother to purchase Harmonix. Hell, there's nothing stopping Activision from hiring Harmonix to make the next Guitar Hero game, for that matter.

This DLC though? WTF? I haven't heard of any of this, and I have like 800 songs in RB. I wonder how badly the pro mode killed Activision's relationship with the artists? Makes me wonder if that's more about creating artistic legitimacy to pull in more artists and less about selling the pro tracks directly.

Harmonix was in bed with who? I mean Bob-bay isn't coding the game either.

"Have fun storming the castle!"

"Do you think they have a chance?"

"It would take a miracle."

Ah good old Miracle Max, about as memorable as The Great Tim and his killer bunny.

But not surprised that the game is dead, they have a great library but it's tough to compete in the music/game industry. Hope that they do have some good DLC for those that are fans.

I don't know what people expect. Songs on iTunes are $1.29 each, and you don't even get to live out your awesome rock god fantasies with those.

You obviously haven't really been paying attention to the situation. Rock Band also charges $2 a song.

Do your research.

Ugh... any idiot who honestly believe's Guitar Hero is dead needs to stop writing on Video Game blogs...

Either Activison will bring it back after a break of a year or two, or they'll sell the franchise for huge money to another developer.

Activision isn't always the most "gamer friendly" company, but they're not stupid.
