Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity is $21 this weekend
17
The full Sins of a Solar Empire experience, known as Trinity, is on sale this weekend through Impulse. The game is 33% off, bringing the total asking price to around $21 in United States, Earth credits. Trinity includes the original Sins of a Solar Empire, along with micro-expansion packs Entrenchment and Diplomacy.
It should be noted that Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, which is described as a "full-fledged expansion" to the series, will be available later this year. Brian Clair, director of publishing for Stardock, told us in early March that Rebellion will build upon the gameplay introduced in the original Sins and its micro-expansions. You'll have to make the strategic decision whether to grab Trinity now or save the credits to go toward a fuller cargo bay (at, likely, a higher cost) later.

Everyone go buy it now. The multiplayer is phenomenal if you have friends. Too bad it requires Stardock crap.

I've never understood DRM complaints against Steam. It's the least intrusive I've ever used.

@Special Agent Steve I'm not complaining about DRM if that's what you're implying. For some people the ram usage and such doesn't sit well with their systems. Impulse you can turn off after launching a game.
I've never had issues with either system honestly, I just hate having them BOTH installed.

I've used Impulse before; it was the worst experience I've ever had with a digital distribution service (and I have a Wii).
Unless Stardock bring their games to Steam, I'm not dropping a dime on them.

Didn't GameStop buy Impulse, or was that an April Fool's prank?

I've never had any issues with Stardock's Impulse. It works just fine.
Also Sins of a Solar Empire and it's first micro-expansion Entrenchment are fantastic. Like @ovoon said above me, it's a great game with friends. I can't speak for Diplomacy though.

Sins is one of the few games that makes PC gaming worth it for me. I can play shooters anywhere, but games like Sins just aren't possible anywhere else. Great game, worth the discounted price and more. Can't wait for Rebellion!

@Epoque I agree with your sentiment, at this point in time.
But I'm hoping in a few years when the silicon in iPads are good enough, that we might see something like Sins on an iPad. There's no reason why the interface couldn't be adopted for multitouch, and the Sins engine actually runs really great on low-end systems, so it might only be a few more iterations of the iPad until it would be possible (dare I even say it could be possible on an iPad 2...).
Anyway, Sins of a Solar Empire is by far the best 4x strategy game I have ever played.

@glibglop wow. On my 6 core system I still get a lot of lag on larger games. Its gonna be awhile before you can a get that looks this good, with a lot of units and teams all playing at the same time on a portable device. I dont know what size games you were playing that the game ran well on with a "lower" system

I want to buy it, I really do but I'm not at all interested in having business with gamestop :)

I love the game, but hate impulse. Wish they would put it on steam.

This game is awesome. Well worth the $21.
If people love this game, they need to look at Star Ruler as well. It's basically more 4X than Sins.

I don't understand the Impulse hate. Unlike Steam, you don't have to have impulse running to run the game. For this reason alone I prefer to buy my games off of Impulse over Steam. I don't need an online component mandated for my single player gaming.
My first experience with Steam was buying a retail copy of Dawn of War II, then after installing it off of the disc for about 10 minutes, I then had to spend the next 2 hours downloading the game again off of Steam.
I bought the retail copy of Sins of a Solar Empire and that did install Impulse - but as mentioned I didn't have to have impulse running to play the game.
I used Impulse to buy expansions for the Sims 3, even though I got Sims 3 originally off of Direct2Drive - it all works.
I used Impulse to pre-order Dragon Age II, and when the game became available, it included all the registration codes I needed for the pre-order bonuses.
Anyhoo - Trinity has been out for so long already - this story is practically a paid advertisement for them. I wish they'd come out with Rebellion already - or even better more Races or more/customizable Leader portraits.

So, is *THIS* the update that makes singleplayer worthwhile?
