@wcarnation

It's not censorship.

It's a private company not agreeing to publish someone's game because they don't like it and then agreeing to publish it after the parts they don't like are changed.

@JasonA

So Apple is blocking the game from the store because they do not approve of the content.

Yeah it's not like that is the very definition of censorship or anything..............wait a sec.

@Cap Morgan You mean just how every time Joystiq bans spammers it's censorship because they do not approve of the content?

If you don't comprehend how that isn't censorship, this just can't be helped.

@Cap Morgan Right, it's censorship, because he can't post his game on the internet, publish it himself, or even speak of it in public. We need reform!

Wait...

I'm not totally convinced this is really censorship–apple didn't want to publish a game, so they didn't. It's not like they agreed to publish the game and then and then demanded the content be changed. It was the creators' own choice to change the game–where they could have simply released the game on PC/Mac they decided they wanted to publish on iOS and instead changed the game themselves.

If I designed a JRPG-style game and took it to EA and they told me "No, this isn't the kind of thing we do or want" that's not censorship, they just don't want their company to publish my product.

If you took it to EA and they said no, you could go to THQ, Activision, Bethesda, Atari, Namco Bandai, etc.. etc..

I'm not sue what you're saying, but similar to that one could take their game to XBLA, Android, PSN, etc.

was looking forward to this one, but honestly i'm pissed to be asked to pay more to play it on pc, especially since apple doesn't take their huge chunk.

either the ipad version should be 5 bucks or the pc version 3, but until there's some equality in the pricing, i'll pass.

That's awful. You would accept it if the iPhone version charged more, even though it doesn't affect you. So is this just like a fit of jealousy or what?

i would accept the iphone version costing more only because apple takes at least a 30% cut right off the top, as well as these guys had to redesign their product to be published on the apple platform in which they would incur additional costs. so it would be a more costly platform to publish on.

@pfranzen
it's not about the money, it's the principle of inexplicably being charged more for the same product. if someone pokes you with a stick is it going to kill you? no, but are you going to move away from them? of course.

@ednomine - Notice how they are cute, fuzzy stuffed animals, and how the font has changed to block letters. Clearly the dev has made a joke, by making the game as sickeningly PC and kid friendly as humanly possible.

Your racial insensitivity meter needs calibration.

(Don't worry. I constantly have to recalibrate my sarcasm meter, because I keep breaking it by being a smartass.)

I like how in the original version, you were making people happy, and that was considered bad; in the new version, you're making animals sad, and that's considered totes cool.

In 20 years, I bet a game about taking animals out of their natural habitant and locking them up in zoos would have trouble getting published (and rightly so as zoos are horrible concepts).

Well, the concept of locking up animals is a horrible concept. The other side of zoos, that being sustaining endangered populations in preparation for reintroduction to the wild, is a brilliant concept that spits in the face of survival of the fittest.

Reminds me of this Simpsons quote!

Grandpa Simpson: I cleaned up all my best war stories for her. I was just telling her how we chased the teddy bears into their cuddle bunkers, then had to tickle them out with machine hugs and fun throwers! They say the more soldiers you tickle, the easier it gets. Well, sir, it doesn’t.

Of the million games on the Istore, why is there an article about this one? Is the game from a well known studio? Is it fun to play or any good? $2 is kind of spendy for an IOS game, dunno if I want to risk it...

Why are people so picky about iOS game prices?

It's like buying Phoenix wright for $2 and saying its too much when retail is still full on.. The reviews are always centered around, $2 is a big risk!

Yeesh..
