Far be it from us to spoil even one second of Portal 2 for those who haven't finished it, but for those who have, Rock, Paper, Shotgun has posted a great interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek and Jay Pinkerton, two of the game's writers. In addition to discussing some of the plot elements of Portal 2, Pinkerton and Faliszek also shed some light on the early design stages of the game and also what it was like to work with J.K. Simmons and Stephen Merchant, who voiced Aperture Science founder Cave Johnson and Wheatley the AI core, respectively.
And, of course, there's talk about GLaDOS and how she has evolved throughout the series. Finally, Faliszek and Pinkerton chat about the open culture of Valve, which encourages creative experimentation (much of which finds its way into Valve's games). If you've wrapped up Portal 2, be sure to give the two part interview a read.

Wow, whoever voiced Wheatley is a moron, an absolute moron.

@Snooki Ironic reference or not I'd think someone with the username of snooki is in no position to be calling anyone a moron.

Why do people hate Merchant's voice over as Wheatly?

I believe it was because the first time we saw Wheatly, it was with a developers voice and he seemed to get the right balance between innocence and mentally challenged (damn censor)... then when we heard the new voice, well, it didn't compare quite aswell.
However, he did a pretty good job tbh, much better than he does on those "comedy" shows he does.

WHAT. People hated Merchant as Wheatley? That makes no sense at all. Or rather it reinforces the fact that most people are brainless morons.
He did such a brilliant job that I'm playing through again just for his funnies.

Glad to see some RPS linkage here (RPS being by a good measure the best gaming blog on the 'net - sorry, Joystiq!).

"Chet: There’s a lot of Motorola gear here.
RPS: Were they in recently?
Chet: I’m pretty sure this is my gift. Gabe just left it here for me… I probably shouldn’t steal it.
Jay: You probably shouldn’t steal it on tape.
Chet: Can you just turn the tape recorder off for a minute because I’m clearly not going to steal the gear someone left here…
…Alright! Now we’re back, and the table’s fresh and clean."

Cave Johnson was the best and funniest part of Portal 2, that one about the lemon's was priceless.

He's going to get his engineers to develop lemons that'll burn your house down.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about Cave's diminished role in the end game. I still loved how everything was executed, but I remember in ancient interviews that Cave was gonna be a hologram and he had tons of malicious messages hidden in the first ARG in 2010.
Cave Johnson was one of the things I looked forward to the most in Portal 2, and they delivered for the most part.

Does anyone know who voiced the corrupt space cube? Did a great job in my opinion.

@Proog Yeah somebody said Nolan North was in this game and I'm like what?! I played the thing and didn't hear his voice. You are right though, sure enough he's the defective units!
