I wouldn't mind rebuying Mario Strikers Charged for $20 here. It was a good game that just needed to rebalanced to be able to score effectively without using the super shot. The Gamecube one was better in certain ways but the Wii one had some good stuff. Maybe the Wii2 will have a version that takes the best of both versions.

I don't understand why companies feel the need to give these re-releases ("Sony Greatest Hits", "Xbox 360 Classics", "Nintendo Selects") such shitty box designs. Why can't they just put removable stickers on the boxes saying "Discounted Edition" or whatever? Changes in box designs has discouraged me from buying new, discounted copies of games countless times. I simply will not have that ugly crap on my shelf if it's possible to get a copy with the original design (which usually means a pre-owned copy, which means no money for you, video game publishers).

@Icemael Pretty much for the reason you describe. In the publisher's mind, people who aren't willing to pay full price for the product deserve to be punished by ugly game art redesigns.

@Icemael I agree with you 100%. My OCD won't allow me to buy Greatest Hits versions of games unless its just a sticker. I'd imagine the art changes cost more than just leaving it the way it is.

@Icemael I actually go FOR Greatest Hits versions, since they're the most recent iterations. And, for some games, there's updates in later prints (see: Metroid Prime, SSB Melee).

Really? You can't figure this one out on your own? It's because nobody* will notice that the game is discounted or a GOTY/player's choice** if it's not brought to their attention.

Just buy the discount version and spend a twentieth of the savings on a high-quality print of alternate box art, if it's such a big deal.

*Not nobody, but - surprise - a lot of consumers don't follow gaming news closely. These people have to be marketed to.

**Regardless of whether or not it's the game of the year or any players have actually chosen it.

If you are not willing to support great developers but instead choose to buy games 2nd hand you are hurting everyone that did purchase this game from the retailer.

I hope you got up voted for comment about packaging not for screaming that are not willing to pay DEVELOPER for HARD WORK they put into the game you love to play so much.

No effing fair! You guys can have the backwards port of a GameCube game*, and I'll take a cheaper copy of Smooth Moves!

*Not a hit against TP itself, but SS will be the first full-fledged Wii Zelda. Too bad it's hard to find TP GCN copies cheap.

Smooth Moves is a pretty f*cking awesome game.

I'm a little blown that it isn't included in the initial U.S. line-up (WiiSports? Seriously? Ugh...).

Whatever, though. My local GameStop sells used copies of Smooth Moves for $19.99, which is what these budget games are being released for, anyhow.

Which is a far cry from the full fifty dollars Twilight Princess is going for...

But doesn't every single dumb American lemming consumer already own WiiSports?...

Anybody interested in WiiSports owns it by now, especially considering it's been packed-in with every single Wii for the last five years.

I would much rather have a cheaper Animal Crossing than any of the Greatest Hits that we are getting.

@den69 Not anymore. The new $150 package includes Mario Kart Wii (and the Wii Wheel) with the system instead of Wii Sports.

Yes, you are.

Wii Sports isn't a pack-in anymore, it's being replaced with Mario Kart Wii. This is really for people who buy their Wii after the fact, or less likely for people who lost their WiiSports disc.

For new Wii owners, the European selections sort of pale in comparison to the US ones... but for long-time Wii owners, much nicer.

I mean, at this point in time, who still doesn't have a copy of Brawl or TP?

'Let's Go to the City' sounds like it's probably a literal translation of the Japanese subtitle. Of course, I say this without bothering to check what the Japanese subtitle actually was, so could be completely wrong.

Anyhow, good to see some game markdowns. A few more wouldn't hurt... (Mario Galaxy 1?)
