Definitely good to know they're trying to make this game great. I love 3rd Strike, though my experience with it is rather limited, so I'm looking forward to this.

Now if only they could do the same for a PSN/XBLA release of Capcom VS SNK 2...

Yes. I desperately want a Capcom VS. SNK 2 that's playable on the 360.

sounds good- i just hope they don't mess with the artwork of the sprites. i hated the look of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix. i hope they keep Udon far away from this one.

@sammo21 I wouldn't complain about it, but personally, hand drawn comic book graphics really don't do anything for me. I would just rather they stick with the original graphics and make them look as good as possible. Reply .

yeah I'm with Laser beams, I avoided HD remix because of what I saw, Udon are great illustrators, but not animators. There were lots of off model frames in their work, made for some ugly moments.

(and no, it's not nit picking, I'm an animator so sh*t like that really bugs me)

On another note, I'm super happy to see the best Street Fighter game ever, getting some current gen love.

They didnt add in any frames of animation, that would change the gameplay. They ONLY redrew the sprites. so the frames of the old dragonpunch, hadoken, etc = UDON frames of the same moves. The only reason that the animation looks like it did because that is all there was.

I actually like the work of the Udon artists, and would like to see them work with Capcom again to update more of their 2d collection. And maybe even put in more frames to a more fluid feel for games that really dont depend on frame count for balancing (eg - capcom's fighters)

@laser beams I think the art itself is OK, but when you combine it with the framerate from the original game... it just looks bad.

I wouldn't mind a game in that style that was smooth.

thank you for summing up my feelings better (and kinder) than i could have :) the game looked alright in small, still-frames- but blown up to full size on a 40" 1080p screen in motion is an entirely different story. the animation was so limited in the first place- that drawing all-new sprites that didn't animate smoothly (or stick to the model) just really hurts to look at. i regret buying it and couldn't tolerate it for more than an hour. i thought Capcom did a great job with Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 HD re-release, though- so hopefully they provide us with a bunch of sprite filtering options and stuff like that.

Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is my favorite Street Fighter title, so there's almost no way that i'm NOT going to buy it (unless they put the shitty "always online" DRM on the PS3 version), but i really hope that they don't mess with the visual style.

Loved SSF2THD! SF3 needs the same treatment! Apart from addig all the "super" and "turbo" that even plagued SF4...

Cool to know they are putting it out and people who haven't experienced it before will, but online will be insane. The only people playing it in any match that isnt friends going up against each other will be the "elite" guys just like on MvC2.

Does this game need 3D, if that's what they are proposing? Will art changes kill the mechanics? Just look at HD Remix, it has a slight but different gameplay nuance due to a upgrade in assets. I suppose it could be argued that 3D will make the online experience a tighter animal in relation to how data is offered and taken via networking. Time = It will tell.

Urien all day every day, can't wait to play it. I showed up to the third strike scene really late and have only found a handful of people who still play it regularly. I'm not even mad that everyone will most likely play as Ken or Chun-Li, I'm just ecstatic that this game is finally coming back out.

Glad to see Capcom willing to go back to its past fighters and place online play for them.

However....

Will you give the Darkstalkers fans some love capcom.

Pretty pleaseeeee

I'm still amazed the style of SF4 wasn't used toward DARKSTALKERS first, simply to test the market. But hell -- now that the fighting game genre is big again, a new DARKSTALKERS game needs to be released!

In other words: Capcom is once again going to set a precedent on over-charging for downloadable titles. $24.99 or how many ever Microsoft space bucks on XBL.

@SpecDotSign

I've bought Street Fighter games since I was a wee lad, and I've been suckered in by Capcoms nonsense and re-releases. Yet some part of me says that if it was $25.00 for this, I would throw my wallet at them. Something is wrong with me when I think that 25 bones is a little bit for a new(old) street fighter game.

You're not the only one! I think I've purchased every single Street Fighter II and every Street Fighter III. And now, come June 7th or whenever SSFIVAE is released I would have purchased every Street Fighter IV. We're part of that problem. -__- and that's why I think Capcom will charge us $24.99.

I'm happy with the original graphics in a lot of these games as long as we have to ability to have no filters. I want the sharp pixels.

agreed. i thought they did a good job bringing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 to the HD era by giving you options with the widescreen and sprite filters- there was virtually something for everyone. so i hope they leave the art alone, otherwise. i also really hope that they don't implement their terrible DRM.

I always remember the times I played this with friends who skipped SFIII era and then got Street Fighter IV. It usually boiled down to, "Dammit, dammit, stop blocking, stop parrying my hadoukens, wtf is this soundtrack, this game sucks, I'm out."

Now if they can put effort like that into digital re-releases in HD for:

Capcom vs. SNK PRO
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Marvel vs. Capcom
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter (yea the original)
SVC Chaos: SNK Vs. Capcom (know it's an SNK developed game but they should get SNK to work together to make it happen!)
X-Men vs. Street Fighter
