Surprised this is the project Retro have been placed on. Should be interesting anyway. Hopefully they can do racing as well as platforming or action adventure.

Now, Miyamoto-san said they're helping, it looks like they're not entirely developing it.

@Cleric That would be cool. I've always hoped they'd turn Mario Kart into a sort of Super Smash Bros. Kart game, with all Nintendo franchises represented. It would inject some much needed variety into the games, IMO.

"'Super Mario Kite' because of the gliding vehicles."

Well they gave Double Dash the second title because of the 2 seaters. Guess they can add kite to a second title in somewhere. But like him, I kid.

Regardless, always good to hear Retro is involved in something Nintendo. They rock.

I wish every time a developer screwed up they turned out one of the finest games of all time, because that's the only way I could describe the original Metroid Prime.

Seriously.

Metroid Prime > Anything else created by man or beast

And while we're on the subject, does anyone know why the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii is sixty-five dollars...used? Did Nintendo only make, like, fourteen copies, or something?

Sheeeeeeit, I love Metroid Prime as much as the next guy, but I've got expenses. Like rent. And food.

And crack. That's a big one.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is one of the best platformers I've ever played. Did you even play it...completely?

The level designs are fantastic. The music is great (though the volcano levels sound very much like Metroid Prime, which is a nice coincidence, considering Kenji Yamamoto did the music for Prime and DKCR).

Metroid Prime Trilogy was made in limited numbers, seriously limited. In Ireland it disappeared after 2 weeks and i've never seen it since.

Breaking News:

Next Level Games is making Luigi's Mansion 2!

Other Nintendo games they've made:
Mario Strikers (GameCube and Wii)
ExciteTruck
ExciteBots

Yeah, Nintendo should just buy them out like they did with Retro.

They developed Punch-Out for the Wii. I'm pretty sure someone else did ExciteTruck and Bots.

Yeah, you're confusing Next Level with Monster Games

Next Level did Strikers, Strikers Charged, and Punch Out, Monster did Excite Truck, Excite Bots, Excite Bike Wii Ware, and Pilotwings Resort

@RedManiac Yeah, Monster has been doing the "Excite" series since Excitetruck. They also did Pilotwings Resort and Wiiware's Excitebike: World Rally. I've really enjoyed everything they've done, but they seem to do vehicular things, so it would be odd to see Monster working on Luigi's Mansion. But wow, didn't expect them to let someone else handle Luigi's Mansion 2. I'm super stoked for it.

These guys should be making Diddy Kong racing 2. As long as it feels like the n64 game and not the DS port...

Pikmin 3 is being moved to the Wii U! (that was kind of obvious)

And there will be more unannounced Wii games coming after Skyward Sword.

Here's a nice idea:
I really hope "New Super Mario Bros. Mii" has a level editor... :) It would work perfectly with the controller's touchscreen.

I wonder if it runs at 60fps with full 3D on. SF4 3D runs at 60fps only if you turn off 3D in options menu- simply turning the dial down doesn't cut it in that regard.

Highly looking forward to this game. I admit feeling a tad bit of buyers remorse when I saw the PS Vita's $250 price tag. With that said, Mario Kart is one of my favorite games so I feel validated in being an early adopter. Bring on the games!

I'd like to call out Paul Gale who supposedly had some super sleuthy contacts at Retro. Why didn't you know about about Retro's involvement in MK3DS? Um, I know why. Because you don't know JACK!

60 frames per second probably confirms that it's running on "metroid prime engine" .. basically it's a very advanced retro studios engine that was used for metroid primes and has been rewritten and improved with better animation and collision systems for use in Donkey Kong Country Returns, it might be only a part ... or a specifically designed build for 3DS, most probably, most of nintendo haters(halo fanboys) don't know Metroid Prime 3 corruption ran in 60 FPS on Wii

First there was an awesome console called the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
After that, a company founded by the Stamper brothers called Rareware started making games for it.
They gave us the Donkey Kong Country games, and with the launch of Nintendo's N64 they set new standards for a console based shooting game with the revolutionary Goldeneye which was later topped by the even better Perfect Dark, while giving us Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini and the Banjo-Kazooie games.
Out of all the games I played, Rare's games are the most memorable to me.
Then things started going down the drain.. Microsoft buys Rare and approximately 75% of the original development team resigned and went to different development companies.
Rare released a sequel to Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie, but those games weren't received well and they haven't made any memorable games since then. Gamers are left with nothing more than nostalgic memories of an era where games weren't only made because people got a high salary, but actually made them with passion..

Now there's Retro Studios trying to bring it back.
They have already proven to be a really steady company and I was so happy when Nintendo revealed Donkey Kong Country Returns.
The game isn't as good as Rare used to make them, but I'm sure practice makes perfect. Give us better music and water areas, do away with the motion controls and add classic controller support. And please.. no more blowing! You do that and you have a perfect game, and you have me sold too.
