Game of Thrones: Genesis screens actually have a throne

We were ready to give Cyanide's A Game of Thrones: Genesis the "Most Disingenuously Named Game of the Year" award -- until this most recent batch of screenshots appeared in our inbox. We can now confirm that, yes, it is a game which contains at least one throne.

Smart of them to release screens today when the 5th book of the series comes out.

The TV show is the best show I've ever watched.
A game could be awesome - but I'm only interested if it's an RPG!
Maybe an "Action/RPG" if strictly necessary.

The series isn't action heavy, regardless. Plus, this game is called "Game of Thrones," meaning it will likely be set in that action-lacking first book.
I'm curious how they'll wring a strategy game out of a story that features one major battle.

Best part is the brand alone with make them millions thanks to the series, too bad the game will actually be crap.
Prepare for a bland Good/Bad moral compass game.

My first thought when reading the headline was "They're making a Genesis game out of Game of Thrones?"

I really don't want to get into this series as I just now finished the 13th book in the "Wheel of Time" series (only one more book to go) and I was kind of wanting to get away from the epic fantasy novels. But if the game is good and from what everyone tells me is an awesome show; I might just have to start reading these too.

I abhor High Fantasy. With the exception of The Elder Scrolls, I have never been able to get into anything that even remotely includes dungeons and/or dragons. Or wizards. Or elves. Or any variation of the aforementioned.
But, due to a buddy pestering the shit out of me, I watched an episode of Game of Thrones last weekend.
I spent the rest of the weekend watching the whole goddamned season one episode after another. It's unspeakably excellent, opting to maintain the viewer's interest not through clichéd genre tropes, but rather through expertly crafted plot and character development.
In fact, one sub-plot in particular had me initially rolling my eyes so hard they damn near fell out of my head (Daenerys and the Dothraki). However, through top-notch storytelling, the narrative thread ended up being the most compelling aspect of the show by the season's finale (and that final shot???)
I can't recommend Game of Thrones enough, especially to those who, like me, couldn't care less about the genre.
Oh, and Tyrion Lannister is King Shit of F*ck Mountain.

For those that don't know, this game has no affiliation with the HBO show. The game has been in development since before HBO announced there would be a GoT show. The developers licensed the rights to the book from the author. And its not a RPG it is an RTS.

Great book, if you like long slow books with too many characters. I called it quits after 300 pages into the first book because nothing happened.

It's amazing that someone could argue that the Song of Ice and Fire series is "too boring" and "nothing happens." I mean, it's just so blatant that you really have no idea what you're talking about. It's like someone saying Lord of the Rings sucks because it doesn't have any battles, or Chronicles of Narnia sucks because it isn't Christian enough.

If you had stuck around for the first 3 books... nah, not that much happens then either. I think more happens in the first half of Dune than in this entire series.
I get it, the Imp loves prostitutes and brothels. I don't need to be reminded of that fact every time he says anything.

Haha, what? Almost every one of his chapters ends with him going "Oh, look there's a brothel! I love brothels because they're full of prostitutes. Did I forget to mention how much I love prostitutes or did you not pick up on that from the fact that every metaphor I use is either to related to whores or something about being a dwarf?"

shows how much you know, for the second book he stuck with only one prostitute and only talked of her. If youre gonna talk shit about a book at least know wtf youre talking about. Also he was engaged in two battles, pretty sure there are no brothels on a battlefield.

Great book, and I have never been a fan of High Fantasy. I take my time and read 50 or so pages a day and have found it to be incredibly involving and well-written. I tried Wheel of Time ten years ago and found myself disinterested. Maybe I will go back after I finish this series. As far as the series on HBO goes, it sounds like it has way more sex than anything the first book has had, although those elements are present.
An RTS sounds interesting, but an RPG more like Phantasy Star III or IV would seem to be a better choice.
