Rock Band hits 3,000 tracks, Harmonix giving away 3,000 songs
20
With the release of some Yes! tracks this week, the Rock Band song catalog has reached a milestone of 3,000 songs. To celebrate this accomplishment, Harmonix is hooking up 30 Americans (sorry, international rockers) with 100 songs of their choosing each on either Xbox 360 or PS3. The mathemagicians out there have probably already figured this out but ... that's 3,000 songs total. Get it?
There are a few different ways to enter, (sorry anti-social folks): Twitter, Facebook or the Rock Band forums. Sorry, there is no option to sit at home with the lights off, shades drawn, until an envelope magically shows up on your nightstand.
The full list of rules can be found on the Source link below. If you're thinking about entering, act fast -- the entry period closes at 11:59pm ET on Thursday, July 28.

I don't really understand why you compare people without Twitter or Facebook to people who never leave their homes. I assume people who don't like Lady Gaga don't like music either?

I'm not angry about it or anything, I'm just critiquing his writing. I personally have a Facebook, so I'm not offended by what he said because it's directed to me personally. I just don't understand why he'd post such a stupid (and possibly offensive) joke.

Oh man, you figured you me out. I'm literally going to go cry myself to sleep.
What I was trying to say, and what you were too stupid to see, was that the joke was in bad taste. Would you say that only black people can not like black jokes? I guess all of those bad racist jokes are just bad to people who it directly offends.
Joystiq has an article quota and so they post these random things which they need to fill up with some kind of content. It could have been a good joke, but it wasn't. The whole article was done poorly, with a sad attempt at humor, that is the part about their user base not being able to do math and insulting people who happen to not use two particular social networking websites. I've just been pretty annoyed with the content lately, reviews, news, etc.

Because social networking sites other than Facebook or Twitter DON'T exist, of course. If you aren't apart of those two sites, you're anti-social. You are a at-home loser for not using Facebook of Twitter.
It's not nice. It's annoying. It's an uncalled-for attempt at humor. Whether or not a person should take it seriously is up to them, but if Joystiq, like any organization, likes to keep it's faithful it needs to consider the feelings of the lighthearted and serious. (yeah guys, feelings, srsly these become important in the real world)
I wasn't offended but there are people to consider. Don't start attacking the guy. Not to mention there are people that will worship sites that aren't Facebook or Twitter. (hipster-style)
That aside, just breathe and LOL at the witty article and focus on what's really important anyway...MATHEMAGICIANS.

@Raiki How is the joke offensive? Who will it offend?
"Sorry, there is no option to sit at home with the lights off, shades drawn, until an envelope magically shows up on your nightstand."
I guess I can see it offending someone who sits around at home, in the dark, who believes in magic. But then they can just cast a spell and put a curse on David Hinkle or something.

That's a terrible giveaway. Only 30 winners? How cheap can they get?

Why? That's still $6000 worth of songs.

dont you think it should have been 300 people getting 10 songs? it seems like that would have been a lot better. plus what if you dont like 300 songs. strange...

"Believe you will love it."
This should just become one of Joystiq's own personal Internet Meme.

The prize is 100 download codes redeemable for one song each according to the official rules. It'd actually be kind of annoying to win.

I could use 100+ songs. I really hope this includes the Rock Band Network store. :D Shame I am still having issues with their forums ever since they updated to RB3. Can't seem to leave a post at all.

I know I've DLed over 500 songs myself.
But I've had fun playing the series, so I can't fault myself too much...

It's barely been nine months since the 2000-song milestone. It's pretty ridiculous how quickly songs are coming out (in part due to Rock Band Network, I guess).
